Do your own research! 2/8/2015

As a sometimes working actor, always auditioning actor, and sometimes working waiter, I have to pick what classes I take carefully. I am not in class all the time because I am busy. Every year, during hiatus, I take a class. Last year, it was The Acting Corps. I did my homework before I went. I saw all the reviews online, mostly good, so this got my attention, Then I asked around on Facebook, and a couple people I knew had been there, more good thing. Then I went down and talked to them, nice place. And lastly I talked to people on their way out of class, also good. So I singed up. The moral of the story is that you should do your own leg work and don't take my word for it. You don't know me. But you should do your leg work on The Acting Corps, you will find what I found, that it is worth it. more

This was the best class I've ever taken for acting 2/1/2015

This was the best class I've ever taken for acting. The best part is that really got me ready to take on acting as a career, not just testing the waters, or a greenhorn. They gave me the tools to find an agent, thought even before that, my new skill set helped me get roles without one. I plan to keep taking classes at The Acting corps for a long time to come. more

Knowlege is a life changing power 1/24/2015

I began training at the Acting Corps about six months ago and the knowledge and skill I have acquired during this time has changed my life. It's great that they have supplemented a scene study class with technique classes, and "the actors instrument" class opened up and centered itself immensely. None of this would have been possible without my hard work, and their great instruction. Words just can't do justice to her breadth of understanding they have to the craft of acting. more

Place for the serious actor 1/16/2015

This is a place for the serious actor. I will tell you, they know what they teach. At The Acting Corps, you will get intense training, honesty, love and support. This program is set up to teach both technique and scene work, and doing the two together is a great way to learn them. The faculty are impressive. You will learn the craft and live it. Hard come to life as you delve into the scene work and the world of Meisner. more

Madly Pleased 1/11/2015

I was introduced to The Acting Corps a couple months ago and my life and career have been irrevocably and joyfully changed! To say that I'm madly pleased is an understatement. In my professional and personal opinion, The Acting Corps offers the finest quality of training available to aspiring and veteran talent. The training we have received, and in general the way we have been treated have been unmatched by any other place I have been. more

I finally made it happen! 1/4/2015

I would love to work only as an actor, but it isn't happening yet, so I have a job. A job at night. And I audition in the day. So I couldn't take the five day a week Boot Camp program, until I heard that it was being offered three days a week for six weeks rather then five days a week for four weeks. I don't know if they offer them all the time, but it allowed me to take the classes, which I had heard about from so many people, and I loved them. Well worth the time and money. Learned more then a few things. Hopefully soon I can quite the evening job and just act! more

For actors looking to build their technique 12/28/2014

The Acting Corps offers great training for actors looking to build their technique. I did the 2 Boot Camp programs. It's an intensive program based in the Meisner technique that caters to professionals and aspiring-professionals alike. The teachers are great, the program is well-rounded and relevant. more

Rodrick Bates 12/22/2014

Rodrick Bates came to Hollywood in 2012. He wanted to be a famous movies star, and he has a lot of misconceptions. After about a year of making a fool of himself, Rodrick found his way to The Acting Corps. In working with the teachers and his classmates, Rodrick realized that his priorities were all wrong and he found his love for acting. The fame would be a bonus, but Rodrick is now doing lots on independent projects, which he is booking by using the things he learned at The Acting Corps. I am Rodrick Bates. more

Reality Star 12/14/2014

I was on a reality show, not a big one, but it did bring me some fame. I had never really done much acting before, and while there was some acting/embellishing on the show, I know it wasn't the same thing. So this was my fifteen minutes of fame. I didn't want it to end, so I quickly signed up for the Boot Camp at The Acting Corps. It was hard. It was very hard. But I came out of it knowing a lot more, and I think I have a chance to extend my fifteen minutes. more

Prepared for Success 12/7/2014

This business is not for everyone, and looking back on things I can truly appreciate the honestly and the commitment of the teachers at The Acting Corps. It prepared me better than anything I could imagine for the reality of the business and the process of not only becoming an serious actor, but a strong actor as well. I'd like to say thank you to all the teachers at The Acting Corps for making me a better actor and giving me the confidence to put myself out there and succeed in this very competitive business. more

nurturing environment 12/1/2014

I felt at home as soon as I walked through the door. A palpable energy. People were there to learn and most everyone left their ego at the door. A safe place to make mistakes and learn from them. Great teachers. Good balance between scene work and technique. Leaned much. Peace out. more

Expand your world 11/23/2014

If you want to learn how to act authentically in films and television and to bring honest emotion to the text, I recommend you check out The Acting Corps. If you are willing to put in the work you are going to get a lot out the program. By the end of Boot Camp 1, you'll world will be expanded. I recently finished their Boot Camp 2 program and I've grown so much as an actor and a human over that time. I learned how to connect with my scene partner in a true and honest way, so that every word and moment between us is packed with meaning. more

I finally did it 11/16/2014

I was always interested in acting but never actually took a class or knew where to start. I finally decided to to pull the trigger and take a class. Living in LA, I know a few actors, so I asked one of my friends where I should go,and he pointed me to the Acting Corps. I looked at their website and met with them, and signed up. I enrolled in the introduction to Meisner Class, or "Boot Camp" as they call it. I fell in love with acting and The Acting Corps. If you're serious about taking an acting class and want to give it a real try, I highly recommend the Acting Corps. more

Love it 11/9/2014

I found The Acting Corps online while searching for an acting school to myself in shape. Their website to be informative, serious, and unpretentious. In this place I found what I was looking for. Halfway into their Boot Camp I, which among other things is an intro to Meisner, I was hooked. I finished Boot Camp 1 and went straight into Boot Camp 2 one week later. The training you get here will give you tools you will constantly use in your professional acting life. They train you not only to be a good actor, but to be a serious, disciplined, and resourceful one. You come out of their program being able to handle real jobs and being a great asset to any project you become involved with. more

Learn by doing 11/2/2014

This review is for the Boot Camp I acting program at The Acting Corps. Overall, I enjoyed my classes and got so much from it. A large part of how much you will get out of it is dependent on your dedication to putting in the work. If you don't want to work at acting every day, this isn't the place for you. One of the themes of the program, or at least, what you should come out of the classes with is how to "be in the moment." Meisner stuff, which I had never done before this. I thought this was useful and interesting in terms of how one would go about a scene and still be fresh even though you know what is coming next, and having done the scene again and again as is the case in film. One last thing, I loved that I worked in every class. Maybe this makes me a selfish actor, but I hate when I just sit there and watch. I don't think I'm selfish, I just learn my doing, not watching. I hope to take Boot Camp II in the future. more

A Positive Review 10/24/2014

I agree 100% with everything, most of the people on this site are saying, all the good ones, which is the vast majority. I have "graduated" (they don't call it that) into the Advanced program and find it wonderful. If you stick with it, the results are life changing. Frankly, they can be even if the first Boot Camp if you're like I was. Going in, my I had issues with portraying actions and emotions that I didn't feel very comfortable with, but working with great teachers in a safe space in which to work has been amazing. Truth of the moment, then I can let it go. When someone, including me, misses the mark, they calls him/her/me out on it, but not in a way that is shaming or humiliating. There are always examples, suggestions and/or constructive criticism. more

A Must-Take Class 10/19/2014

I like to take different classes, sometimes for a month, sometimes for a year. There are only a few classes that I have come across that has a major shift or impact on my life, and the Meisner Technique teachings I've learned here at the Acting Corps is one of them. If you want to learn to act really well, come to this school. The program is fast paces and challenging, so it can be frustrating to some at first, but before you know it, you understand it. It really is like working out at the gym, building muscle and getting stronger every day. I know that I am a stronger actor and better adjusted person by going through their Boot Camp programs. more

Like a second home! 10/13/2014

I'm starting to think of The Acting Corps as my second home. Between class and running scenes with my scene partners, and going out with friends after class, it's such a big and important part of my life. The teachers know what they're doing and have a passion that shows in the time, effort and dedication they put into every class. Each actor works and is able to challenge themselves artistically in every class in order to grow and as actor and build self-confidence too. more

I love this place! 10/4/2014

Full disclosure: yes, The Acting Corps does encourage people to write reviews, but the content of this review and the rating are my own. And I didn't have to do it. With that out of the way, I'll say that I love this place! Such a good vibe, and such great teachers. I can't even express how much I learned, or maybe I just don't want to because it would show how clueless I was before I came to the Acting Corps. Loved the Meisner. Loved the cold reading. Loved everything. There was not one day that I felt I did not talk a lesion away. more

This one, I like 9/26/2014

I like the idea of Meisner, so I started to attend a more tradition Meisner school last year, and I did not have the patience for it. I know, pureists will not like my comments, but I felt it was just to slow to get going, and I could not take it. Then I heard about the Acting Corps, which has a program that throws you right into it and speeds up many of the early phases. I decided to check them out, and I loved it! I don't claim to be a master at Meisner, I've only been at it for three months, but I have learned so much as my acting is improved a lot. I do still have a friend in the program I dropped out of, and guess what? I have so far ahead of him at this point! more
