Events at the Acorn!!! 6/29/2010

When we got engaged almost a year ago, my fiance mentioned the birthday party we went to at The Acorn, which was fabulous. I emailed Julie right away, and couldn't believe she told us first that there was no reservation fee! After a short conversation about basic options with her I booked her for our wedding reception! Pros: delicious, efficient, helpful, reliable, personable more

Don't Waste Your Time 6/28/2010

We only saw four entree's. No really, that was it! All started around $30. The place was empty. I do mean there was no one there and they asked us if we had a reservation. The screened in out door patio was covered in plastic. We left and went to a nice place down the road called Amerigo. Acorn has got to be the biggest joke I've ever seen. Don't waste your time! Pros: I didn't find any Cons: Very Small Menu more

Amazing Atmosphere, Fabulous Food 12/17/2009

My friend recommended the Acorn for our anniversary. We were seated on the patio which offers the great vibes of city, yet manages to balance an intimate dining experience. The service staff and manager were so friendly, it felt like we were welcomed into their own home. They made our night extra special.. and I haven't even got to the food yet. Each course was amazing. I loved the Halibut and my husband is still talking about the Lamb, something he would usually never order out, but glad he did. I can't stop talking about what a great night we had. All Around, from the ambiance, to people to the food, hands down the ""Best Dinner Experience in Nashville"" Pros: Loved the Patio, Super Friendly People more

Best dining in the City 12/16/2009

Being a native Nashvillian and knowing this city, The Acorn is my favorite restaurant. When you first pull up to the front of the charming building you get a sense of a lovely, welcoming, glow. This feeling only intensifies as your greeted by one of the polite but laid back host or hostesses. Then of course, there is the food! We usually start with the perfectly cooked calamari and the locally famous acorn squash stuffed ravioli. Next to the Acorn caesar and the heirloom tomato salad. Now comes the conflict...the pork tenderloin, lamb shank, chorizo and potato crusted halibut, or my staple wonderful cut of filet cooked medium rare? Tough decision! However, accompanied by a fantastic pinot from the Acorn's unique wine list, I soon settle into remembering that whatever entree I get at the Acorn is always a treat. Then there is the deserts! Thnk I'm running out of room so let me close by saying...The Acorn is a Nashville Establishment, locally owned, that I am very proud to frequent, and have never been disapointed when I leave.... Pros: wonderful ambiance, truly fine food, superb service more

Very Disappointing 9/14/2009

The building had a terrible smell, Allowed smoking at the next table, food was very overcooked, tables were much to small for 4 diners, couldn't fit all of the glasses, silverware dinner plates and bread plates on the table at the same time. I think it needs a complete overhaul. Cons: Terrible dining experience more

The diamond in the rough 5/26/2009

The service staff is wonderful, and very knowledgeable both in etiquette and the menu. The General manger Robin was fantastic. Most of the food on the menu may not sound too good, but it is in fact some of the best food my wife and I have ever eaten. The drinks were priced well and good selection. The atmosphere was very intimate and relaxing. The noise level was a bit loud but we had a wedding party going on at the time. Prices are very reasonable for the product and service you receive. Not only will we return, but if they had a membership, we would be first on the list! Pros: Food, Service, Drinks, Price, Atmosphere Cons: Noise more

Had To Come to Nashville for THE BEST Halibut!! 5/13/2009

We dined at The Acorn last night and we agreed it had to rank as one of the Top 10 meals we've ever had...and we're in our 60's! Since it wasn't crowded (a Tuesay night), we decided to first have a drink at their warm, intimate bar where Steve was more than accommodating...and makes an excellent Mohito. After just 15 minutes, we felt like we had known him for years...and he new the menu inside & out. The bluecheese w/ pepper & berry jam and toast points appetizer we had at the bar was simply incredible. Pros: Delicious & Creative Menu; Cozy Atmosphere; Excellent Servic Cons: Dining Room Could Use Some Decorative Green Plants more

Wonderful staff, fabulous food! 4/11/2009

Our experience at the Acorn was superb - we were nervously planning a banquet for 75 college athletes and their parents after a championship meet in Nashville. The Acorn was recommended to us, but we live out of town and had never eaten there. But from the first phone call we made to inquire, the staff was delightful and attentive to every need. Julie Rahimi bent over backwards to assist us in planning a wonderful event. Robin and staff handled every detail the night of the banquet. The food was delicious (not the usual case at large sports banquets in our experience), tailored to our event, and portions so plentiful that even after feeding a ravenous men's swim team, Robin offered to allow visiting alums to eat as well. We highly recommend the Acorn and plan to return whenever we visit Nashville. Pros: Service with a personal touch Cons: We wished we live close enough to eat here regularly more

wonderful staff 2/25/2009

I have visited Acorn several times in the past year. I have never been disappointed. Their staff always treat me like a special guest. If you go try the halibut and finish off the meal with the chocolate roulade...like eating a chocolate cloud!!! more

The Worst Meal in... well... forever! 2/8/2009

I visit Nashville twice a month and eat out at every meal while I'm there. I went to Acorn recently (2/7/09) and it was absolutely terrible. The room was too loud, lights were at a strange level and the hostess walked by us about, 100-200 times during the short gross meal. more

flawless every time 7/31/2008

By the second time we came here, the hostess knew us -- not only did she recognize us when we arrived at the restaurant, but she recognized my name and voice over the phone when I called for the reservation. Such attention to detail is a highlight at the Acorn, where the staff goes out of its way to make your experience flawless. Pros: bar, wine list, menu offerings, vegetarian options, desserts, wait staff and hosts more

BEST service, hands down -- AND amazing food! 7/27/2008

In celebration of my husband's graduation from law school, we decided to make reservations for our whole family to have dinner at The Acorn -- a place we had heard was wonderful, but didn't know much about. The day of our dinner reservation, I received a call from Nathan, the manager at the restaurant, asking if we were celebrating any special occasion. I told him we were, in fact, celebrating, and he chatted with me for a good 15 minutes, just getting to know who would be attending dinner, where we might like to sit, what kind of atmosphere we were looking for, etc. I was extremely impressed by his friendliness, but still wasn't prepared for the fantastic experience we were soon to have. When we arrived with our large group, we were greeted by Nathan, who ushered us to a big table on the first floor and assured us that we would be treated like ""VIP's"" for the night -- he was right! We were given a champagne toast, a chef's tasting, and wine pairings -- all with congratulations from the wait staff and management. In addition, the food was cooked to perfection and the flavors were exquisite. We ended up staying and talking until everyone else in the restaurant had left! Our parents were greatly impressed, we all had a fabulous time, and our families STILL talk about what a great dinner we had at The Acorn! My husband and I have since gone back again for his birthday and had the same wonderful experience. So, if you haven't tried The Acorn yet, GO! Go now! :) Pros: Everything! Cons: Nothing -- everything was perfect! more
