The Acorn 11/11/2003

This is a wonderfully romantic dining restaraunt. There are several different areas to choose for seating and there are two different bars to choose from. Pros: Fabulous service, Desserts are fantasti, Wonderful Ambience more

Ambitious menu, Weak food 10/27/2003

When I read the menu at the Acorn, I had very high hopes. Every dish sounds very complex and delicious. Unfortunately, they were not at all able to pull it off. With four people each getting different appetizers and main courses, we all agreed that the food distinctly lacked flavor. The only good dish that we tried was the Korean Beef Roll appetizer. Given that it is so expensive, I would certainly not recommend going there until they work out the problems. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Bad Food, Expensive more

LOVE IT!! 8/7/2003

After my visit to the Acorn, I proclaim this to be THE BEST restaurant in the city. The decor is so warm and inviting and really creates a mood that beckons you to stay and escape. The food is marvelous (especially the halibut and the stuffed chicken)!! But, you have to save room for dessert because the Bananas Foster Cheesecake can't be beaten!!! Just an Overall Friendly and Memorable place that I look forward to visiting again SOON!! Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Ambience more

good food, steep bill 6/24/2003

The Halibut was impressive, as was the roasted chicken. If price is no concern, enjoy some appetizers, but otherwise your money is better spent elsewhere. Pros: food, ambiance Cons: prices more

Great Even Late 4/18/2003

I had dinner at The Acorn last evening and arrived right when the regular menu was changing to the Late-Night service. I was welcomed and taken to an enchanting table in the dining room. I have eaten regular dinner there before and thought that it was exceptional. I have to say that the quesadilla and the proscuitto sandwich were both great offerings (at a great price) and the staff appeared glad that we were there instead of an imposition (like many late-night places in town). It was quite refreshing to be able to go to a place that carries out what the name stands for (learned this as well) ...The Acorn=Hospitality!! Thanks SOO Much!! Pros: welcoming, upbeat, delicious more

Great new hot spot 4/17/2003

I have been to the Acorn 4 times and each time there is always a smiling face at the door, the food is great and the service is prompt....what more do you want? Keep up the good work! Pros: Friendly staff, Good food more

Boundry Wannabe 4/12/2003

This place seems to be trying very hard to be something they will never be. Fancy decor, high prices, and an upstairs patio aren't enough to make up for the lack of quality service and real value. What's the use of a reservation when you still have to wait? Save your money and go to the Boundry or Sunset Grill. The Acorn will be falling off the tree soon enough. Pros: fancy decor Cons: Attitudes more

Break out your Pocketbook 3/19/2003

If you go to the Acorn make sure to break out your pocketbook, and don't think you are going to get your meal anytime soon, it might be cold, and please don't ask to substitute greens for brussels-sprouts, we don't want to insult the chef. I say, if I am spending $90 for me and my husband to eat dinner, and I want the steak, I should be able to get the greens. But no, I got the brussels-sprouts, and they were cold and just as bad tasting as I remembered as a child. The bar crowd and the restaurant were way to close together, I couldn't hear my self think. I say next time, we eat at the Tin Angel or Granite Falls. more

good not great 3/6/2003

needs a little improvement on the front door and service bar...took a while to get served downstairs, food was good, needs a litlle more energy downstairs more

Great Place 2/10/2003

A group of four of us went to The Acorn and all loved it. The ambience is great, a very stylish and hip feel about the place. Each of us tried different things on the menu and enjoyed them all. Our waiter was attentive, but not annoyingly so. The evening was very enjoyable, and I definitely plan on returning and recommending it to others. more

All Star Food, All Star Service 2/9/2003

I'd be willing to bet that by summertime getting a reservation at The Acorn will take plenty of lead time, the place is just that awesome. The service is second to none, from the friendly hostesses to the knowledgable servers to the awesome bartenders. If you dine out in Nashville regularly, you'll probably recognize some of the best staff around has been assembled here. The bartenders were fun and friendly and made the short wait for our table enjoyable. He also made great dirty martinis. The food is delicious with the Salmon being my favorite so far. The upstairs dining room and bar are a blast and it looks like they have a second floor outdoor patio ready to open when the weather gets warmer. This place is here to stay. Pros: Service, Food, Bartenders Cons: Can be hard to find more

Kudos Acorn 2/6/2003

We had dinner at Acorn this evening and I must admit that I was so pleasantly surprised by our experience. The energy was electric from the moment that we entered the door as we were greeted by a lovely bevy of smiling faces. We were promptly seated and then satiated by the decor and overall care given by our server. The food was exquisite from the recommendations to the presentations. My favorite was the mahi (an evening feature) that has left me longing to come back to try regular items. The wine list is extensive enough for a diverse selection, but in no way stuffy. This is the place that Nashville can finally be proud of!! Kudos Acorn!! Pros: friendly, beautiful, unique more

Service is not Key to Acorn 1/29/2003

This place may do better in a place where a high value is NOT placed on service - may I suggest NYC? It appears that the staff and management work very hard to ruin a good menu and wonderful ambience. Pros: Creative Menu, Ambience Cons: Staff attentiveness, Staff attitude, lack of managment more

""A"" is for Acorn 1/27/2003

Great new addition to the Nashville restaurant scene. A cozy setting with groovy lounge tunes and modern art helps make The Acorn a cool, but romantic place to dine. The food is exceptionally well prepared, the wine list is moderately priced, and the servers are attentive but not overbearing. The only drawback is the location. If you aren't familiar with the West End area, its kind of hard to find. This place will be a hit once they get better signage. Pros: cool decor, great food, big bar upstairs Cons: tough to find more
