cocktails, outdoor seating, great food 6/17/2008

My girlfriend prefers Yellow Porch, but my favorite Nashville restaurant is The Acorn. Their bartender makes fantastic, interesting cocktails while anything out of their kitchen is great. Plus, their outdoor seating can't be beat. Pros: cocktails, food, service, and outdoor dining Cons: can be a touch loud more

A Great Spot 5/15/2008

Delicious food - try the filet. Great service - everyone there seems really happy to be there. Creative menu - not too short, not too long. Inviting atmosphere - love the lighting and exposed brick. Had a drink in the big booth in the upstairs bar before dinner on the patio - tons of space, great drinks, patio is unique being on the second level. Everything was great so I decided to let people know about this great spot in Nashville. Great Job Acorn. Keep up the good work. Pros: Food, food, food. And service and atmosphere. Cons: Closed on Sundays more

Great experience 5/13/2008

I was recently in Nashville for my cousin's graduation from Vanderbilt and my family had a fantastic time at The Acorn. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and the service was excellent. Our entire group loved the atmosphere (particularly the artwork throughout the building) and we enjoyed ourselves throughout our evening there. I had an Asian-style salmon dish which was simply delicious and the rest of my family left raving about their dishes. All in all, I would highly recommend this restaurant- you're in for a wonderful experience altogether! Pros: Service, ambience, food more

Very Disappointed 5/10/2008

My family was celebrating my nephew's graduation and my sister-in-law made reservations for us at the Acorn. I was excited to experience one of Nashville's restaurants it being my first visit to this beautiful city. I'm sure I'll return to Nashville but not to the Acorn. The staff was very polite and helpful but the restaurant seemed very run down. The elevator which carried my Mother-in-law upsides to the patio broke down with her in it. The fan located over our table was broken. It was a very warm evening and a fan would have been very nice. The little lights over our section of the patio were also broken. Now onto the food, it was awful. I ordered the lamb which was overcooked and dry, and the potatoes had the consistency and taste of reconstituted potatoes flakes. The rest of us had similar issues with the food. Over cooked, tasteless, tough, cold etc. We did have children with us and there was no child menu, which was not the Acorn's fault but they provided penne pasta w/butter and cheese for $9 a plate. Little pricey for boxed pasta. It was a sticky situation, if it had not been a celebration with 15 people I would have sent my food back or just paid for my drink and left. Overall we dropped over $500 for dinner and I must say if we had been in Atlanta we could have had an incredible dinner at ""Bones"" or ""Chops"" and still had money left over for a ""Frosty Orange"" at the Varsity. Pros: The staff were very friendly> Cons: The building was run down and the food was awful. more

Amazing customer service, Megan and Candice are the TOPS!! 3/17/2008

The food was wonderful, the atmosphere was very relaxing and provided a wonderful base for any occasion. Great for birthday dinners, romantic dinner for 2, gatherings, meeting up with good friends and great conversation. You will be well taken care of, greatly respected, and will leave with a smile on your face. Pros: parking, service, food, ambience more

Wonderful food, service, and ambience for a private function 1/30/2008

Recently had a ~30 person private dinner here. Servers were fun, polite, and attentive, and the food and cocktails were delicious. The ambience and decor is a great blend between modern and cozy... it's hip but not sterile, upbeat but not too loud. all in all a top notch experience. I've never written a review on here before, but I had such a wonderful experience I wanted to give them credit/an endorsement in public. more

Consistently Great! 1/30/2008

My husband and I go out to eat several times a week since we both work and never feel like cooking when we get home. We love to try different restaurants, but if we find one we like we stick with it. The Acorn impresses us every time we go. The food is consistently great, and they have many of the same servers we have been seeing there for years. They treat us like royalty when we walk in the door. Being recognized and taken care of for going back to the same restaurant twice is not something we would expect, but it makes the experience that much better. I don't think you can go wrong with The Acorn. Pros: Consistently Great Food/Service more

new chef? not so good cuisine 11/13/2007

I have been going to the acorn since opening and the last visit was very disapointing. I used to consider the acorn as my favorite restaurant in Nashville, and apparently they have a new chef. The menu has changed completely. We ordered the lamb. The sauces for the lamb were very bland. We also a NYStrip steak that was over cooked and lacked the flavor that I used to love in their NYstrip steak. I will always enjoy the atmophere and the friendly service, yet this is experience will always stick out to me. I will try it again, yet I hope the next experience will be more enjoyable. Pros: atmosphere Cons: the new chef more

We love The Acorn! Beautiful atmosphere, stellar service, impeccable food! 11/8/2007

This is a staple for us. We have been thrilled with the food, service, atmosphere, everything, each time we have visited. The menu is filled with something for everyone and I haven't tried a single thing there that wasn't delicious and impressive. Its affordable, friendly, and the locatoin is awesome! This is SUCH a wonderful place to visit. You will love The Acorn! Pros: The Best in town in every realm...food, location, ambiance, service, wine list, selection- impeccable. more

Most exquisite dining experience in Nashville! 10/25/2007

After dining at the Acorn several times, I did not think that the food could be topped. However, after a recent experience tasting the new chefs cuisine, my assumptions were proven wrong. The specials are mouthwatering, and the presentation is as tasty as the food itself. The excellent food is accompanied by stellar customer service. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation today! Pros: upstairs patio, parkikng, service, location, FOOD more

A Great Find! 9/24/2007

Last Saturday was our first date night out since having our baby and we wanted to try something different. The restaurant was awesome from the vibrant atomosphere to the attentive service. I had the halibut and it was cooked perfectly. My wife raved about her fish special. Our server was very personable. We had a very special evening and will definitely be back. Pros: Ambience, Great food and service more

Pushing us out the door 8/23/2007

We have been going to Acorn for about 2-3 years now. We decided to head over and have a few ""Diamond Martinis"" on the patio. The restaurant was empty it was a Saturday night. I ordered my drink and it came out-with out the diamonds (sugar rim) while we waited for our friends to arrive. They got there a few moments later and my girlfriend ordered the same thing, and again it was minus the sugar. Which isn't a huge deal but its called this for a reason. As the waitress is setting down our drink she says to us its last call. Its only 10:30. So my friends ordered another birthday drink, and she promptly -and rudely brought it back out with our ticket. This was just a little rude. The other staff inside were sitting at the bar, almost pushing us out the door with the dirty looks. Our waitress probably paced back and forth the entire time we ""downed"" our drinks. So don't go for a place for a drink on a Saturday night. They will try to pour it down your throat as your being shoved out the door. Pros: Yummy drinks Cons: Poor Service more

Good Food, Great Service 7/27/2007

I was meeting my two sisters in Nashville for a weekend away ( I live in Chattanooga). I called the day before to make a reservation and the person on the phone was friendly and extremely helpful ( she suggested the balcony for atmsphere). We arrived at the time of our reservation and there was no record of it, no biggie since we still were seated where we had requested and immediately. The hostess was a little flighty and gave us only two menus (there were three of us) and no wine list. However, our server was wonderful, playing into our festive mood and making excellent reccommendations. The food was fabulous, you must have the salad with the apples and gorgonzola ( I Licked my plate) and the seviche. My sisters had the special, and loved them. We had the chocolate dessert and great martinis as well . The vibe is great ( several bars hidden throughout, perfect for a date) and the staff seems to enjoy working there. The only downside was a faint smell from the pond, but it was gone in moments. more

An apt slogan. 7/11/2007

I took my girlfriend to The Acorn for Valentines day and it was well worth it. Although the chef had specifically prepared selections for the evening, I gave the restaurant heads up that we would need a vegetarian option and they were only too accomdating. Definintely a great experience overall. more

Fantasic, fun, friendly -- best seat in the house. 1/21/2007

I've had reservations a couple of times, but something has always come up. This past Saturday, I went with 5 friends for a birthday celebration. The staff was friendly and courteous (and very helpful when I realized I needed directions), the dinner was superb (menu was very inclusive of a variety of dishes...and very descriptive), and the environment was warm and comfortable. I couldn't have asked for a better meal or better company! I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit to Nashville so I can go again! Pros: Fast, friendly service enhanced by a divine menu and fantastic wine list Cons: Parking is a little tricky if you don't want to valet - but not terrible. more
