Fresh ingredients, big portions worth their prices and efforts of going to Sanchez16th. Good vibe for dinning experience, a place where you can enjoy twilight sky with a few of wa...

I'm not sure why this place has an average rating of 5 stars. It's maybe 3 stars at best. The brunch is definitely better than the dinner, but it's still pretty bland. I've been h...

Great Find! 10/7/2004

Our dinner group looks for the hidden treasures of San Francisco; Tangerine ranks right up there! The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable; good place for friends or a date. The appetizers were all tasty and served at the perfect temp. (the salmon potato cakes were the big winner) and the service was attentive and helpful. Of the six entrees we ordered, each was unique, tasty, and well prepared; fusion often goes too far, but the flavors here were well balanced and complimentary. Decent wine list and soju cocktails. When we got the bill, we were almost shocked at how affordable it was; per couple it was half to a third of what we usually pay at the popular places. Highly recommend. Pros: Food, Atomoshpere, Affordable more

Will definitely return 7/22/2004

I was pleasantly surprised with Tangerine. I recently went with my family, so we were able to try lots of different dishes. The appetizers are very yummy!! The duck spring rolls and the corn fritters were my favorite. The soft shell crab was ok and the crispy wonton with ahi stacks were also ok. I had the lamb chops for dinner - EXCELLENT!! I loved it and everyone said it was the best entree. The seafood gumbo was good, but like the other reviewer said, lacks flavor if you ask for medium. The chicken breast with berry sauce was also good. The desserts were ok - nothing too exciting. They have a lot of specials throughout the week, so I will def. be back - esp on Wed when you get a free glass of Copola wine with your entree. Pros: good food, romantic, good service more

great discovery 5/1/2004

We found this restaurant while we were walking around Castro and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered an assortment of appetizers (which were more interesting that the entrees) for our meal and were delighted by the freshness and the flavors of the dishes. The duck spring rolls and the potato fritters with smoked salmon were the definite winners. Being NYC native and a neophyte to California cuisine, Tangerine is a great introduction. Pros: delicious food, nice setting, great service more

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant and had a great time while there! My partner and I have decided that this is our restaurant! The atmosphere is very romantic, the food was excellent - light but plentiful. You have to try the ice cream buns! The service was really great - they gave us the right space during our dinner but were also very attentive to our needs. I have recommended this restaurant to all our friends. Go! Pros: Service, Food, Ice Cream Buns! more

The food and service are wonderful 4/2/2004

I've tried this restaurant about two months ago, because they are affiliated with iDine (where you get 10 miles for every $1 you spend). They have really surprised me. The food was incredible. The smoked salmon potatoe cakes with fennel and cream sauce are delicate and combine the flavors so well. I also recommend the chicken pancakes with penut sauce and the ceasar salad that is the best in San Francisco. Actually, the apetizers are so good that you may not even get to the rest of your dinner. The service is also very attentive, but not intrusive, so you can carry on with conversation. Pros: Food, food, food, Service, Quiet neighborhood more

Nice place 1/28/2004

If you are looking for a cute romantic setting with a different flavor, Tangerine is a good choice. The food is good and the choices are a toothsome taste of Asian fusion. The ""Druken Duck"" was yummy and the desserts were deliciously sweet. How can you go wrong with a place that is right next door to the great Joseph Schmidts? By the way, the pleasant service was a big plus. This place seems to be getting more popular each week, especially for brunch. P.S. try this place before Tangerine becomes really popular! Pros: Beautiful decor+food, great service, interesting food Cons: not too cheap, some small portions more
