I came here with 3 guys and they all loved it. The chef is extremely attentive to both the textures and the flavors of everything from the water (punched up with peach syrup) to the omelettes. I had the shiitake mushroom omelette and it was perfectly fluffy and eggy. Belgian waffles with ginger/cocunut sauce also stood out. The service was polite, yet attentive. I went with a group of five other people, expecting your typical pan-asian restaurant. Was delighted with our attentive server, big portions, really nice food presentation, and tasty starters and mains. And on top of all of that, it's a really good value. After reading the reviews for Tangerine last night we decided to try it. It was as good as all the previous people had stated. Their staff was short last night but they still managd to offer fantastic service. The presentation of everuthing from start to finish was fantastic. The portions were well worth the minimal cost and everything we had from the salad to the salmon was great. This is an affordable night out that offers great food. I didn't know this place existed until a few months ago. After finding them out on this site, and reading all the very positive user reviews, I decided to check it out. What a special place this is!!! I'm a food snob, and very particular when it comes to Pacific Rim cuisine. These guys have managed to get it right! Both dishes (lamb, duck) were very flavorful, with the right amount of spices and herbs. Just a wonderful dining experience. Try the emeral jewel for a cocktail w/ dinner. more

I've dined here a few times now and can quiet honestly say, it's become one of my top 5 retaurants in SF. The dishes are very flavorful, and they add just the right amount of spice. If you haven't had their Drunken Duck, I strongly suggest you try it. It's that good. I haven;t had brunch here yet, but i hear it's excellent. This place is a gem. more

Tangerine has become my restaurant of choice for dinner parties with friends, new and old. I have personally eaten there for some time now. On each of my visits the food has been so luscious, the service so warm and friendly and the atmosphere so pleasant I had to make sure my family and friends knew about it. I have had several group events at Tangerine. Each brought accolades from the attendees about the wonderful Pacific Rim dishes, their presentation, the surroundings and the fine service we received. I grew up in San Francisco and have seen many restaurants come and go. I am certain Tangerine will be one of those that will be with us for a long, long time. I very highly recommend a visit to Tangerine. more

Upscale with Down Low prices and now lunch. 2/27/2005

I've been a Tangerine fan practically since they opened. I was there for their well known brunch last Sunday when Fab, the tall, tall server told me they are now open for lunch during the week. I took a look at the lunch menu which includes Pannini sandwiches, pastas, salads and more and dcided this was definately going to be one of my frequent lunch stops. If you are looking for a great place to eat lunch, brunch or dinner at very reasonable prices try this place. Oh, and say hi to Fab for me. Our party were pleasantly surprised with the food and ambiance of this neighborhood restaurant find. An entire three course meal with drinks and tips amounted to a little over $40 per person. We were especially impressed with several appetizers such as the crispy wonton Ahi tuna stacks and crispy soft-shelled crab. Meanwhile, the New Zealand lamb chops and creative baked duck with coffee sauce was also extremely good. We look forward to returning in the future. Our dinner group looks for the hidden treasures of San Francisco; Tangerine ranks right up there! The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable; good place for friends or a date. The appetizers were all tasty and served at the perfect temp. (the salmon potato cakes were the big winner) and the service was attentive and helpful. Of the six entrees we ordered, each was unique, tasty, and well prepared; fusion often goes too far, but the flavors here were well balanced and complimentary. Decent wine list and soju cocktails. When we got the bill, we were almost shocked at how affordable it was; per couple it was half to a third of what we usually pay at the popular places. Highly recommend.
