Best

I've always loved this place. They have a great wine list and the food is always wonderful. This always makes for a great date night.

Worst

You will leave smelling like you have been to a dance club. The salads were very good. The filet was so over salted it was dried out and left kept me up all night with dehydra...

Racial discrimination 9/28/2006

I was having a romantic dinner there with my husband and overheard a manager telling a server that the Mexicans (I am assuming this was referring to the bussers) were running late so they needed to bus tables til they got there. I was very shocked that people are so ignorant especially in a classy environment such as this restaurant. This type of racial discrimination should not be permitted and I will never go there again. Pros: great food Cons: discriminating comments from upper management more

Best Quality Steak in town and definately best service! 9/21/2006

The beef is to die for. You can cut it with a fork. Excellent service to boot! It's a bit pricey, but it's worth the quality! You get what you pay for here! The choc cake to die for. A must have. more

Go somewhere else 9/3/2006

Yes, the food is good, but only if you are lucky enough to be seated. This restaurant does not take reservations. They have what they say is ""call ahead seating"" which is nothing but a waiting list. We put our name on the call head list, and still waited an hour. The hostess either forgot we were there or never put our name on the list. Food is good, but for the price go somewhere you can make reservations and not have to wait. Waiting an hour for expensive food is insane. Go to Ruths Chris, Flemings, Kobe, anywhere. Pros: Atmosphere, decor Cons: No reservations, price, poor management more

Best Steak I've ever had 7/8/2006

I had the pleasure of dinning at the river while on buisness. The usual recomendations from my hotels are predictably touristy, but not the Stoney River. It was perfect! From the comfortable environment to the knowledgeable service to the unbelievable food I was in heaven. You have got to give them a try while in Nashville. Pros: Fod, Service, Atmosphere more

Wonderful 2/23/2006

I have been here twice, the last time on Valentines day & both times were wonderful. The service is impeccable!! The steaks were wonderful and cooked exactly as requested. The steaks are definitely worth the price. I would recommend this to everyone. After our last visit we even received a card in the mail thanking us for coming to the restaurant! Come here for a great steak, you will not be disappointed!!! Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Food more

Middle Tennessee's best steak 7/12/2005

My wife and I enjoyed Stoney River in Atlanta on many occassions while living there and were thrilled that the restaurant opened in Cool Springs after we had moved here. We were not disappointed. Wonderful portions of great tasting steaks and seafood, a salad dressing to kill for and a staff that is second to none in Nashville. Bravo! Pros: Portions, Service, Ambiance Cons: Busy more

Stoney River - 2 thumbs up 5/31/2004

The high menu prices was a bit of a turn off at first, but once our food started arriving, it was most definately worth it. We have been during busy and ""not so busy"" times and the service was excellent every time. Parking hasn't been a big issue, especially if you don't mine walking from the next parking lot. However, when it is busy, it is busy. For a change, eat at the ""first come, first server"" seating in front of the kitchen. It is a bit noisy, but watching the preparation is entertaining, and you get to see other items on the menu. more

Outstanding Experience!! 1/2/2004

My Wife and I dined at Stoney River for my birthday; I was extremely impressed. The food was incredible, especially the Filet Oscar! The host staff is young, but very courteous. The service was outstanding. Our server took the time to not only deliver outstanding service, but to walk my wife and I through the wine list, including a sample tasting, for a perfect selection. SIMPLY INCREDIBLE! Pros: service, food, value Cons: long waits more

Exquisite 12/19/2003

Reservations required. Expensive but worth every drop of wine and bite of steak. This place rocks!! Wait staff are tops. Atmosphere perfect especially for romantics. Food is perfect...portion, temp, appealing. Dessert is a must, if you can find room! Our visit was a special occasion for just us two and we spent about $150 but we got the best service and food for our $$ and were very happy w/ the experience. If you're looking for easy parking, spacious seating, warm atmosphere, great wait staff and delicious steaks, you gotta go to Stoney River Steakhouse for sure!! Pros: Excellent, Outstanding, Highly satisfying more

aloof, disorganized 8/29/2003

The first visit was exceptional in every regard. Great wine list, good food and exceptional service. Our 2nd visit left us feeling car-jacked. Our party of 6 was seated at a ""buffer"" table on stools near the fireplace. We were told it was smoking. The manager told us to put out our cigarettes, removing the ashtray and the smokes within it. After a long time we had to ask for a server. Server was great and should train the cooperate minded management about people skills. Five members in our party are in the food & beverage industry and the buzz was bad all around. I can't describe it but the manager's personality (or lack of there-in) tainted the whole environment and left us ""chilly"" even though it was not cold in the restaurant. Pros: Good food, Seated quickly, Wine List Cons: Negative atmosphere, Rude management, Disorganized more

Smoky River 6/29/2003

You will leave smelling like you have been to a dance club. The salads were very good. The filet was so over salted it was dried out and left kept me up all night with dehydration. The swordfish was completely smothered with seasonings more suitable for sausage or pork. Had no idea what I was eating under the encrusting. Why would you treat alleged fine cuts of meat this way? Mushrooms were fair, green beans were good, mashed sweet potatoes could have easily passed as coming from the Kroger Deli. The crème brulee was bordering inedible. Tasted like jello and cinnamon. Atmosphere - tacky fab 70ish sandstones. The booth seating was very hard on your lower back. Chock full of typical steakhouse rednecks. Didn't see any tank tops but did see plenty of Bermuda shorts and luau shirts. Decent prices save this place from being a complete waste. more

So amazing, worth the wait 6/25/2003

I went on a Saturday night, about 8:30, and there was a little over an hour wait. For those who don't like to wait, be smart and call ahead! I did and made reservations for 8:30 and they assured me, no matter what the wait, I would be seated by 9:00, and I was. The food was amazing, and definitely worth the price. A 10oz. Filet and 16oz. New York Strip with two sweet tea's totalled $60 after tip. Much much better than Ruth's Chris and the baked potato was wonderful. I'm definitely going back Pros: Hot rolls, great steak, Romantic Setting, food, employees Cons: impatient people -, good enough to wait more

A Great Place 6/4/2003

I have eaten at Stoney River 3 times now and never once have I had a bad meal or experience. This place can definitely compete with Morton's, Flemings, and The Palm. It has a really neat atmosphere and is priced lower than the rest of the steakhouses out there. This restaurant definitely comes recommended and when I have family in town, I'm always sure to take them there. Pros: Food, Service, Reservations more

Great for 2 or for the family 5/7/2003

We have been there several times and I have yet to have anything I didn't like. The crab dip and bisque are great for starters, the steaks are tender and cooked as ordered. But for me the fish items are the best, horseradish encrusted grouper and seamse trout are the two best. Dessert is excellant, and even the rolls are sweet enough that they could pass for a dessert. My Wife and I have gone there for special days, and we have taken family and friends for an early dinner. My little girl is 5 and she loves the little steak she gets. They only have reservations for groups of 7 or more, but you can do call ahead setting a few days in advance. Pros: Great Food, Great Selections, Very helpful Staff Cons: A bit pricey, Long waits on weekend more

Neat Atmosphere OK Food 3/10/2003

My boyfriend and I tried this restaurant last weekend. For the price the wine list was adequete but not grand. For the both of us it was $57 for entrees and 2 glasses of wine. It's a bit over priced for the food you get. Large portions but a little on the heavy side. I had the Grouper (so/so) he had the Rowdy cowboy steak (very fatty). We prefer Montana's for price and flavor. Pros: Atmosphere, wait staff, timely Cons: Fattening, over priced more

Sure musta got better . . . . 2/14/2003

The steak was excellent; tender, flavorful and perfectly cooked. If it was seasoned in the least, I couldn't detect it. As good a steak as I can ever remember eating. The ambience is boy's-clubbish and cozy; leather-upholstered and dimly lit. The wine list was too trendy for my taste. Too many Merlots, not enough Bordeauxs and not a single Chateau Neuf. Our waiter was a bit inexperienced for a resturant of this caliber. He wasn't bad, just unseasoned (perhaps better suited to Longhorn's than to Jimmy Kelly's). But he was eager and I'm sure he'll age as graciously as the steaks. Pros: steaks Steaks STEAKS, atmosphere Cons: young-ish staff more

Prestigious/pricey/Fine Food 1/30/2003

Stoney River, one of three O'Charley's concept chains ;has now found Middle Tennessee. Food is supurb, service exemplary, menu choices arguably varied, price, a little ritzy. The Lobster is delicious but pricey, the steaks are large and cooked to perfection, the deserts are divine. Atmosphere ecclectic. I highly recommend this establishment for those occassions when you are making an impression on a new friend, business associate, or just feeling expansive. Dinner for two with one cocktail $70.00 Pros: Food Preparation, Service, a Dining Experience Cons: 45 minute wait, small bar, pricey more

Mouthwatering 1/30/2003

The dinner was absolutely wonderful, service was great and it is nice to have another quality restaurant in Franklin. The Salad, Rolls, Steak and.......everything on my plate was absolutely wonderful. I am sure the dessert would have been good....but the rolls were too good to leave room. more

long wait, unorganized staff, ok food 12/30/2002

Our hour and fifteen minute wait time turned into two hours after being promised repeatedly every 5-10 minutes our table was ready. Turned out the owner gave our table away without telling the hostess. I don't think this place will be in business for very long due to the poor customer service and overpriced mediocre food. Pros: Good wait staff Cons: Overstaffed, Pompous Management, Overpriced more

Now THAT'S a good steak 12/15/2002

This new chain, owned by O'Charley's, is a definite step up from it's big brother. The decor is very Northern backwoods (think Sportsman's Lodge), the service was a little under par (but they have only been open a short while), and the prices are higher than I would have expected for this locale. BUT......... what a GREAT steak! I'm talking approaching Ruth's Chris quality, Midwestern grain fed Black Angus, done perfectly to order. The sides were great, too! A great place for a special night out. Pros: Wonderful beef, Upscale ambiece Cons: A little pricey more
