South Paw Pet Grooming

I'm really surprised over all the bad reviews for this place. If you're considering going here, don't listen to them. I was apprehensive about bringing my cat here based on the negative reviews but three other groomers had recommended South Paw for grooming a cat. I decided to try them and I'm glad I did. I have brought my cat here several times and every time they have done an awesome job. The staff are super friendly and remember me even though I only go there every 8 months or so. They always cut my cat exactly how I want (lion cut) and she looks absolutely adorable when she leaves there. If you're considering going here, definitely go! more

We were so happy with the care that we received at SouthPaw. We went with no recommendations after being super frustrated with a big box pet store's issues with our dog. Our dog has anxiety over being taken to a vet or groomer, and SouthPaw handles him wonderfully. It may take them awhile, which I think is in part to how long it takes to calm the dog down so they can cut, but he always looks wonderful when we leave. I would totally (and have) recommended this place to many of our friends. Speaking of, our dog needs to get in for an appt ASAP! :) more

I don't want to get into the details...but I was disgusted with this place. I brought my dog in to get groomed and got a call hours after AT WORK being told that I was neglectful to my dog. My dogs are my fur kids and have serious medical issues which THE OWNER was aware of. After I began yelling at her for saying such a thing,she began arguing back. As a pet RESCUER, I could see her concern. However, it was talked about while dropping her off and she went about it the wrong way. My mother in law left work to go get my baby girl from this MONSTER. I literally thought I was imagining this. I have told at least 10 long time customers that will not step foot back in there. I received my baby back half shaved, which was much better then leaving her there. Until I got her back I was so worried to leave her there. She has severe allergies and I didn't want them giving her something she was allergic too, since their listening skills aren't very well! I have to say...I find it funny that they feel the need to come on here and defend themselves. If you're so ""good"", I do not believe it would be necessary. more

I've been going to Roxy since 1996. She loves animals. She can get even the most terified dog calmed down to cut its nails without the use of drugs. As a pup my dog went to a groomer in IGH that cut her nails so short they bled and she did not use any quickstop on them. That ruined her for other groomers until I found Roxy. My dog loves her and her alone when it comes to nails & grooming. more

I am a new dog owner and never thought about finding a groomer for my dog until a friend of mine recommended Roxy at South Paw Grooming. I was very impressed with the service and her skills! My dog looked great and the service was outstanding! I would definitely go back! The only con for me is that South Paw is not very close to my house. I hope that one day they open a shop near me! Pros: Great service & skills Cons: Not very close to home but still worth the drive! more

I have been taking my dogs to Roxy for grooming for the last 5+ years. I have dogs with special needs and wouldn't trust anyone else to groom them. I have been a witness to the interaction between Roxy and her doggie and cat clients and can attest to the gentleness and patience she bestows on each of them. They are each recognized and treated as little individuals and they respond positively and trustingly. It is obvious that South Paw Grooming expects only the best from their staff and Roxy is a shining example. :-) Pros: Professional grooming with TLC Cons: None that I am aware of. more

I have went here for 2 1/2 years and now they have people working there that don't know what they are doing. My dog can't even get up and walk. He is in extreme pain from this so called groomer ( Bethany) who said opps I shaved him to close. And they lie about whom owns the place. They offered us free grooming for the vet bill, are you kidding me he probably will need more vet attention. He has only eaten 2 times in 5 days ... I have filed a complaint with the B B Bureaus and am stilling waiting for the so called owner whom pretends she is just the manager to even call us. Small claims court is where this will end up. I have pictures and a vet to back this up. I am making a complaint at the city also. I advise anyone whom this has also happen to to email me, file a B B B complaint and call the city of SSP about this business ASAP. Cons: no experience and lack of respect for customers more

I have been going to south paw grooming for almost 2 years, I used to have a very nice groomer who was very patient with my dogs needs and was ALWAYS happy when I walked in with my dog, I guess she left in January, they would not tell me where she went to so I decided to have someone else groom my dog. Each time I went there they were rude to me and I NEVER got the same haircut . The last time I was there, the new girl named stephanie cut my dog severly, I had to take him to the vet to get stiches!! When I called I talked to the girl who groomed him and she denied cutting my dog, I talked to the owner Roxy and she refused to pay my vet bill or give any discount on grooming, and she also was very rude,anything would have helped!! I miss the girl that used to be there and I see why she left!! They should at LEAST be curtous enough to tell people where their groomer went. I will never go back there and I told my friends to find somewhere else to go Pros: close Cons: everything more

I never fill out these reviews but after reading the negative ones here I had to! I have been a loyal customer for years and have had only the best experiences at south paw. I am sure that these wonderful caregivers make an occasional mistake but never without doing their very best to please the customer and treat the pets with care. My poodle is elderly and Roxy always makes a special appt for her at the end of the day when it is quiet to minimize her stress. I don't know what I would do without her, and all of the groomers there, you can tell they are real animal lovers! Pros: THEY ARE GREAT! Cons: n/a more

The staff at South Paw has always done a great job with my Newfoundland. They have not only given him fantastic hair cuts, but also great advice for me pertaining to his overall well being and care. He is a high maintenance breed and I appreciate their feedback when I have questions. My dog has very few health issues or problems and I believe that is partly due to South Paw's advice. Thanks! I RARELY write a complaint, but this was too much today. We have had 2 prior great experiences with this salon; not today. We took our cat in for a lion cut, the same cut as previous appts. She came home a total mess around the neck and chest area. It's not like we can just let it ""grow out""....it takes WEEKS! We have NEVER had to tell them how to cut her or worry about it. I called and asked if the groomer was new and Stephanie responsed, ""Ma'am you are being very rude, but yes, she has cut a few cats! I can offer you a 10% discount!"" Whooopppeee, that's $4! It was OBVIOUS the new person had only cut a few lion cuts before! So sad that we will never go back there, thanks to the one person who actually cut her correctly is no longer at this salon. I brought my 7 month yorkie in for his first hair cut. I wasn't sure what I wanted other than that I didn't want him shaved. She went over options with me which I appreciated. We had talked it over and agreed between an inch to inch and a half. She started saying it would would be an inch all over. I then said I don't want it all one layer on the face. I want a yorkie puppy cut with the circular puppy face cut. When I left I thought she understood what I was talking about. Apparently not. After telling her multiple times I don't want his hair super short and shaved well that's what I got. When I picked him up 3 in a half hours later he was basically shaved. His face looked hideous. It wasn't circular nor looked like a yorkie puppy cut whatsoever. It was triangular. It was so short there's no way I can even put a top not on his head anymore. His body was basically shaved. She said she didn't use the clippers because he didn't like it so she scissor cut him. Well she sure got close with those scissors because it looked like his was shaved almost to the skin. If you are having a hard time finding a groomer you can stop searching now! They really are just fantasic here. I had a very hard time finding someone to groom my cat; she got me an appointment right away, went over all my options when I got there, and took extra good care of my cat ( who really does not care for the whole being groomed thing ). I really cannot say enough good things. Just try it. Pros: They know their animals! more

We had tried many groomers in the area, and Roxy was the first one who was actually concerned about our old dog's skin condition. We had a Bichon with skin allergies. After his first grooming with Roxy, he did not experience the terrible scratching that he had after he had been to other groomers. She then tried a few different shampoos and always asked how he had reacted to each one, zeroing in one the best one for him. I was very impressed and have finally found a long term groomer for my babies. Benny is my 8 year old cavalier kc spaniel and Joon is my 5 year old havanese. I have been to many groomers in this area for the past 8 years and Roxy, the owner, is the BEST by far. My babies came home clean, happy and very nicely trimmed. The cost was well worth it, average for the area I would say. The shop is super cute and clean too and it smelled good, not like wet dogs and flea shampoo. Roxy even had some great ideas about helping me train my dogs. She knows a lot about animals and it was obvious that she loves them too. I already have my next appointment scheduled. Highly recommended!! Pros: clean shop, great job, nice to my pets. Cons: none that I can think of. more
