This is why monopoly sucks. 3/29/2012

I bought three Kawasaki Supersports Ninjas within a year period for myself and family members. Everytime I made the purchase, I gave Smith's a try just because its the only dealer in Tuscaloosa area other than one used bike dealer. Sales reps aren't horrible but quoted OTD price were $700 to $2000 in difference depends on the MSRP of the actual bikes that I purchased. I ended up going to Birmingham for all three purchases. They don't even match the prices, never calls you back.\r The REAL PROBLEM is their Servide Dep. I usually do all maint. on bikes myself but this one time, I was really busy so took one bike to have 1st service done. I made the appointment over the phone and when I showed up on the day couple days later, a little teenage looking guy came out and told me our mechanics are off today but I can have it done. I asked him, if he was mechanic then he said he was but he moved up and now he's answering calls. haha I asked again how old he was and he said 18 or 19. I d more

Very Pleased with Smiths 2/29/2012

I had a great experience using Smith's Sport Cycles and would recommend it to others. I bought a 2011 Yamaha Stryker from them and the sales person(Jared Strong) was helpful with any info that I needed and helped me to make the best decision for me. I had a very good experience with the office person as well (Richard), who was very helpful with all the information I needed as far as financing and parts information. Overall I was very pleased with the experience and would recomend anyone with metric bike needs to this company. more

I had a good experience at smiths sport cycle, I went with my brother to pick up his bike that had some service done and bought a four wheeler while I was there, they gave me the lowest price around and were very nice. more

Unhappy Customer 6/25/2010

Smith's has Poor Poor costumer service. I called the service department and was greeted with "HELLO!" and I said "is this the service department?", and he said "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" with a very demanding voice. \r \r I understand that he is probably a mechanic that does not give a sh#* about customer service, but Smith's need to understand that I don't deal with A-Holes when I don't have to, so I will take my business elsewhere. more

whats all the fuss? 2/12/2010

I'm not exactly sure if you got said persons on the wrong day or what happened, but I have had nothing but good things come from Smith's. The people that I've spoken with aren't experts on specific models such as what you would find at a (pick your brand) place. However they do have a wealth of general knowledge about the things that are sold there. As far as the persons in the service department are as nice as can be I would trust any of there mechanics to work on my things. With this being said I do most of my mechanic work myself though because I dont have the kind of money to pay someone else to do it. What I am amazed at is why people would take a motorcycle or atv or whatever to be worked on outside of a major rebuild of the motor or something extremely complicated. Work on it yourself because that's part of the fun of owning a machine. That is learning the intricacies of it and all. On top of it all I'm a firm believer in supporting your local shop even if it does mean paying a more

Avoid Smiths at all cost!!!!!! 1/17/2010

After hearing nothing but horror stories and being warned to stay away from smiths I decided to see for myself and not pre judge them. I went in looking for 3 four wheelers for my family and spoke to a salesman who seemed bothered that he had to get up from his desk. When he gave me the price of the fist one it was $1000.00 higher than the same one from another dealer quote. I was told they would not even try to get close to the price and not to expect service if i bought elsewhere! The bad reputation around Tuscaloosa is true! Go out of your way to avoid smiths sport cycles! more

Smith's is possibly the WORST shop in the state 12/14/2009

If you can avoid going to Smith's please do at all costs. The lack of knowledge and poor customer service and lack of basic people skills leaves me dumbfounded. I have a k7 gixxer600 and was told a Michelin PP rear tire would cost upwards of $370. I got the tire elsewhere for 160 shipped to my house and mounted for another 30, saving me roughly $180. I could have bought two tires for the price of one from Smith's. I also had a sales guy attempt to sell me NON synthetic oil and tell me that after running a full synthetic in my bike for 15k miles it would be "no problem" because "synthetics aren't that much better than non-synthetics anyway". How these people stay in business amazes me and I'm always appalled at their lack of knowledge of the products they sell IN their store. Their prices are outrageous and the customer service is non-existent. If you need something for your Suzuki product please contact Big 1 in Birmingham or Action Motorsports in Clanton, Al. Absolutely DO NOT waste y more

Lets set the record straight 12/10/2009

As a mechanic I can tell you that you will get what you pay for at Smith's. Also their labor rate if much lower than the surounding dealers. Too bad all the customers who have been here and had excellent service don't seem to post anything. more

Smith's Sport Cycles Inc is where I will keep shopping 12/10/2009

I bought my 09 KLR650 here, love the bike and like the whole bunch at Smith's. I have always went there for parts, this was my first bike purchase there, and won't be my last. Got a great price on my bike, and got the financing I needed. more

Smith's Sport Cycles Inc is a great place to shop 12/10/2009

Good honest people. Great selection in inventory. They take great care of their customers. I have read the other reviews and can only imagine the situations to cause such negative posts. Like they say you only hear from mmost people when they are mad. more

Smith's Sport Cycles in tuscaloosa 9/28/2009

I bought a seadoo and a rhino at the same time last year and the sales staff and service has been great, the seadoo had a some service done and was ready when they said it would be and the rhino had to have some kind of factory modification recall for safety it too was also ready when they said it would be. So far everything has been good dealing with smith's and there have been no problems. I wanted to put bigger tires and wheels on the rhino and the service man said that isnt a good idea because it will put too much strain on the rhino internals and break or prematurely wear out axels or other parts so i can understand that and appreciate the tips. more

If I had only read the reviews first 7/8/2009

I only wish that I had read the reviews first. While on vacation we took my sons Yamaha 50 in to have the internal governor removed and to have it tuned up. (oil changed, etc..) I was told that it would only take 2-3 days which worked well with our schedule to return home. Although they were able to remove the speed control the tune up was a totally different story. When we got the once great running ATV home (3 weeks later!!! so much for the 3 day promise) it would no longer start. After calling them and explaining the issue to a man (Willie) that was beyond RUDE!!! We took it back for them to look at only to find that the spark plug was faulted out. Which seems odd because it was "new" supposedly or at least I was charged for a new one. Over a month later the ATV still has major problems! It still will not start more than 90% of the time and if we are lucky enough to get it started, will not run for long. I find it hard to believe that someone with the worst customer service skills t more

No customer service skills 7/25/2008

After purchasing numerous atv's from Smith's Sport Cycles, we had an accident on a Rhino and had to leave it to get fixed. It stayed well over a month and not once did anyone call to let us know anything. I called a few times to check on the progress and someone (who I later found out was the owner) was VERY rude. We finally went to pick up the ATV and was told that they did the estimate wrong so the Insurance check was also wrong. After knowing this, nothing was done about it so we couldn't pick it up until we brought them a new check. I talked with 'Mrs. Smith' and she was very rude and absolutely NO help. When you pay that much for something, its hard to leave it somewhere for a month, especially if they're not going to help you out in any way. We will DEFINATELY be buying ATV's from somewhere else! more

Horrible 5/19/2008

I purchased a yamaha C3 scooter from the company about a year ago. When a go in for stuff to change the oil, or with cranking problems, because the brand new $2,000 scooter won't start, they are always rude. I have to ask multiple people the same question, because no one has the answer or seems willing to help me find the answer. I met one guy who seemed nice and helpful, out of maybe 8 people I encountered, but he didn't seem to know anything about scooters. Would recommend using someone else, or at least seeking service from other people. They couldn't give me advice to change my oil, so I called a yamaha dealer in columbus, Mississippi, and they told me how to do it perfectly. more

Good supply of motorcycle, atv, and watercraft. Great parts department with a large inventory of supplies. Responsive sales staff with you in mind. Do not expect the red carpet if you purchase from another dealer and ask about service work. more
