There were some good things about this salon, so I'll start there. The parking, even on a Sunday, was plentiful. They offered me a freshly-brewed coffee right away, and it was tru...

LOVELY COLOUR... 5/16/2007

Hello, allow me to begin with the fact that I am new in town from London, England and was at a loss for all my new location needs such as a Dry Cleaners, Car Wash, Nail Salon and of course a Hair Studio. A friend told me to look into citysearch...where I found all of the above, including Sit Still which has over 50 reviews and less than 10% of them are negative (which by the way were all answered by the studio) which put me at ease about trying out a new colourist at their studio on Main St. Well thankfully all their (positive at least) reviews were true...I got a lovely set of baby blonde highlights and a precision haircut that out shines (some pun intended) a lot of the haircuts I have had done in Europe! The studio is down to earth and priced fairly. I received a great head massage/treatment with my service and even a lovely cup of tea, which along with a great Hair Colour Studio can be difficult to find in this town but not any more!\r Thankfully yours,\r Eve. Pros: They are really skilled in Colour along with Cuts! more

Bob listens to what you want 5/3/2007

I've been going to Bob for years, and I'm picky....my mom is a hairstylist, so I know what a good stylist should be, and Bob is it. First he talks to you about what you want and what you're looking for, and, most importantly, he LISTENS to you. A lot of stylists just end up doing what they want despite what you say, but Bob really tries to work with you to make you look your best and also to give you what you asked for. I just tried color with him for the first time and he was great at that too. I've gotten many compliments on the highlights he put in my hair. Bob is so good even my mom approves when she sees my hair! Thanks Bob! Pros: Great stylists, fun friendly unpretentious atmosphere more

Great customer service & stylist 4/30/2007

Christy is the best. I went in for a partial highlight and after going home, decided it was too blonde for me. I gave her a call then next morning and she was was very warm and welcoming, and offered to squeeze me in that day to apply a toner to make the highlights more subtle. It worked. Now my hair looks awesome. Very natural and shiny. She gave me a great cut too boot. I highly recommend her, especially if you have dark hair and want to go lighter. Go see Christy! Pros: awesome service and great value more

thank you kazumi! 4/24/2007

i moved to los angeles a few years ago and it's always hard finding someone you can trust w/ your hair. after trying different salons and after many bad haircuts, i had the fortune of finding kazumi. i haven't gone to anyone else since. she cuts my hair w/ great precision and style. i trust her completely w/ my hair as she's always ahead of the trends and most importantly... you can always tell a good haircut by the way it grows out. if you're looking for a good stylist you can depend on... ask for kazumi!! Pros: kazumi more

bad parking and bad service 4/21/2007

i used to go to Mel at sit still and she cut my hair really well. once my appt was at 6PM i came and could not find parking and the garage close by was full. i called Mel and said that i cannot find parking and i will be 5-10 min late. she told me that i must reschedule. this place has good haircuts but has bad service and parking. Pros: not bad haircuts Cons: bad service and parking more

Kazumi is the best! 4/19/2007

Kazumi is nice and charming hair stylist ever! I really felt comfortable with her to cut my long hair. more

A Great Experience All Around 3/30/2007

Let me tell you about a great experience I had at Sit Still ""One Great Salon"". Last week, while searching for a new salon, because frankly, my old stylist had began to take me for granted, I came accross this very page about Sit Still and decided to take advantage of their special ($44 haircut & $65 partial highlights). I have to say, this is the best choice I have made in years! The stylist was great, the shop rocks, and you cant beat the price with a stick! Do yourself a favor and get a color and cut at Sit Still ""One Great Salon"". more

Fantastic haricuts and comfortable salon 3/28/2007

I first went to Sit Still Salon about six months ago, after moving out here from the east coast. I was given an appointment the day I called with Traci, and I count my lucky stars every time I look at my hair! \r I'm not very imaginative when it comes to hair or makeup, and really need professionals to help me figure out what to do. Traci is amazingly skilled at listening to what I like (which I'm not always able to express very clearly), figuring out what fits my lifestyle, and then making suggestions that result in a beautiful style that's versatile and easy to maintain. I developed a problem with split ends a few months after moving out here (it's much less humid than where I used to live) and I decided that I needed to air-dry my wavy hair most of the time, instead of blowing it straight. I can still blow-dry my hair straight and look polished when i want to, but it also looks fabulous just air-dryed and natural (which is how I usually wear it now). My dear husband, who usually hates any kind of change, has loved every haircut I've gotten from Traci (and that's saying a lot, because until I moved out here I'd been seeing a hairdresser who's a friend of my ours). After my most recent cut, my husband said (and I quote) ""You're hair is really perfect - I don't think it's even possible to have a better cut"". Wow! I've also been able to keep growing out my hair, which used to start looking lank and drab a few inches shorter than it is now. As far as the salon itself goes, it'is funky and comfortable and everyone I've met there has been very friendly and down-to-earth. I also love the ""Celtic Cream"" and the Hairaholic shine spray (each of which I think you can only get at the salon). On my most recent trip, Traci also gave me a deep conditioning treatment that made my hair feel as soft as it did when I was a child - yea! All in all a fabulous place. Pros: Friendly, down-to-earth, great haircuts more

Great Salon, nice area. 3/13/2007

Japanese Stylist named ""Kazumi"" she always makes me happy. she is friendly and very professinal. and of course she knows what she is doing. I want to ""Sit still"" more than one hour there.\r hip and casual atmosphire and easy parking, close to the beach. you can enjoy all day in that area if you want to. she'd make my day! Pros: easy parking, reasonable prices. Cons: none. more

Love it Every Time! 3/13/2007

Thanks to Kazumi I love going to Sit Still. I love the fact that I can go to someone who gets it. Without saying much she knows right away what looks good and what doesn't. Yet she's always trying to change things up which I love. Whether it's through hair coloring or cutting she always seems to make it look unique and different which is important to me since I'm an artist. Normally, I have short hair however my last haircut I decided to grow it long and because of the way she cut it I haven't had to go get a haircut for the longest time and as a result my hair has grown out beautifully. Thank you Kazumi for always doing a great job! Also, if you like getting compliments on your hair then she's the one to see. more

Helped me and my green hair out... 3/11/2007

I was very wishy washy with what exactly I wanted from color when I went in to see Mandee, and ended up with a brighter blonde then I actually wanted. Without hesitation, Zac (? I think that's the owner's name...) told Mandee to put a toner in it, which subsequently turned my hair a lovely shade of green. Not green as in ""shamrock"" green, more as in ""hardly noticable unless under certain lights ""green. I probably would have walked out with that, but Zac was definitely not satisfied, and he took over and, after some magic waves of his genius hair styling wand (ie some reworking with shampoo and a different color), my hair came out to the beautiful color I didn't even know I wanted. It's the best color I've had in years.\r You guys rock- I much recommend this place. Mandee and Zac were awesome, but I've heard everyone is...\r I'll definitely be going back. Pros: Staff are all lovely, and they all get their own little cubby houses. And I love Irish accents. Cons: None, as far as I could tell. more

Jo Gave Me My Omphh Back!!!! 2/24/2007

The lady who had been cutting my hair for the last few years has vanished and I don't know where to find her. Finding someone new to cut my curly/wavy hair is always an anxiety provoking experience. I've had more than my share of truly horrible cuts in my life and many more just mediocre ones. I'm 51 and I want to look stylish, but not like a middle aged woman trying to look like a twenty something and I don't want to spend more than five minutes styling it in the morning. I know that's a lot to ask for in a haircut and from a cutter, but that's what I want. and generally I go away dissapointed in some aspect. I found myself looking in Citysearch this week for recomendations in my area and saw a few rave reviews for Jo at Sit Still. I found it comforting that the owner and stylist's respond to negative reviews and offer to fix the problems, I don't see that done very often and it showed me that they feel that they offer superior service. Anyway I called booked an appointment for this morning and went in armed with pictures and hope. Jo was wonderful, she sat me down, talked to me (FYI shes also a delight to talk to, very friendly and warm), looked at my pictures and went to work. In just 30 minutes I went from looking dowdy to WOW!!!! My hair looks just fabulous; really cute and with just the right amount of spunkiness to keep me from looking like the old foggie I am. I'm absolutely in awe of the wonderful job she did. I will be back and recommend Jo and Sit Still to anyone looking for a great haircut. Pros: The best cut I have had in years! Nice place without the usual ear blasting music in most salons Cons: The entrance to the metered parking is hard to find at first. more

Great prices for great hair! 1/29/2007

I love this hair salon. It was so nice to find a hip, down to earth hair salon with reasonable prices and great hairstylists. I love that it doesn't feel like a fashion show when I walk in. I've always been happy with my hair cut/ color. Jo is wonderful but I've also had other stylists. All great. I don't have to wait weeks for an appt and they're always willing to squeeze me. I was very sad to not work close by anymore but I'll still make the drive just so Jo can do my hair. Pros: Prices, atmosphere, staff. Cons: Parking can sometimes be a drag...bring your quarters. more

Great Salon! 1/11/2007

I moved here from New York City, and was less than happy with the first couple of stylists I found. Then I discovered ""Sit Still"" and found Laura, who listened to what I wanted and knew exactly where I was coming from. She didn't urge me to cut my long hair short or add lowlights - she did exactly what I asked.... and I love the results. I recently returned to her, and a month later my hair looks like I just stepped out of the salon! She managed to make me blonder AND keep it natural-looking and healthy, which is quite a feat! Plus, everyone is so pleasant... the prices are excellent... the vibe is relaxed... I never have to wait nor do I feel like my stylist is rushing or squeezing me in between other clients. I now tell everyone I know about Laura and ""Sit Still""... I'm so very happy. Pros: Service, pleasant staff, ambiance, value, results Cons: none that I can name more

Always love my color & cuts!! 1/7/2007

I just noticed that an anonymous person took the time to write some untruths about my dear hairstylist Lorraine. I have been a loyal customer of Lorraine for 6 years and have always been very happy with my color and cuts! She is professional, very talented and an overall good person! I have and will continue to recommend everyone I know to her! Thanks for taking such great care of me Lorraine! \r \r \r Amy\r Pros: Great color more

Wonderful Stylist! 1/4/2007

I just moved to Los Angeles from Miami. I went on city search to find a new stylist., I read all the reviews and Mandee was highly recommended. I went in to have a appointment with her. Being that I am in the industry my hair had to be matched exactly to my head shots. She did an amazing job. She matched the color perfectly and the cut was amazing. I highly recommend Mandee. She did exactly what I wanted and met my every need. It is extremely hard to find a new stylist when you move to a new city, it only took me one time to find Mandee. more

Hugely overpriced and price gouging 1/1/2007

I went to Lorraine on the advice of a friend for cut and highlights, and as pleasant as she is, I was sent reeling with the final cost for a small trim and partial highlights of $280!!! The job she did was average, but I reasoned that perhaps this was just becuase she had a lot of extra work to do on my color, so I (stupidly) went back a second time 6 weeks later - this time she did a very strange ""partial"" color for the highlights as an inbetween color which looked very ordinary, and the cost this time just for highlights was $200. I don't recommend this place at all for color. Cons: price, skill in highlighting more

Great highlights and root touch up 12/8/2006

I went to Patti to touch up my roots and add a couple highlights and she gave me exactly what I wanted and more!! My hair is much more vibrant than before and she was very gentle with my fine hair. Love the salon, very reasonable pricing, friendly staff!! more

Traci Gives Best Cut and Color Ever 12/4/2006

Hey...\r I walked in to the shop a little bit nerevous about letting a new person cut my hair. I met a young lady named Traci, I don't recall her last name. She asked me some great questions about my lifestyle and how I felt most comfortable. Then she gave me a few suggestions. Well I must say that it was my best cut and color ever. I have gone back to her several times and would highly recommed her. Thansk Traci for making me look my best. Tom T. Pros: Great fun saloon, Traci great stylist Cons: Parking is Santa Monica more
