If memory serves me, for over a year now my lady and I have been looking as fresh as friday night thanks to Kazumi's genius. If you are looking for anything else, don't! Trained in Japan and seasoned in the US, Kazumi brings a unique interpretation of modern hair style to every cut she gives. Best hair color i've had in years!!! 2/27/2009

I live in the area and have passed by sit still several times... My hairstylist that I have been going to for years has gone on maternity leave so I decided to give Sit Still a chance. A girl there named Mandee gave me the best hair color I have ever had! She did a full highlight on me to help my grey hair to not be so noticeable. My hair has never looked better. The color looks very natural and the cut is much more sophisticated! When I left the salon I felt ten years younger. It's amazing how something like changing your hair color and style can change your whole appearance. I highly recommend Mandee she really knows what she is doing and has a keen eye for color... If you're new to the area and want to know a true local, Alan is your ticket. I've been to sit still before and love the staff, but the other day they put me in his chair for the usual cut. I'm pretty low maintenence so i like to have a good chat... I learned a handful about the history of venice and met a genuinely great guy. Cheers! more

Worst Customer Service from Owner of this Salon 2/24/2009

I am incredibly disappointed with the way the owner talked to me & the way he handled my situation. All so unnecessary. I was repeatedly made to feel as though I had done something wrong. How about they actually follow through on the things they say & the emails they send instead of making the customer feel as though they have done something wrong? I hope the stylists that work at this salon are aware of how their customers are being treated. This owner made me feel so uncomfortable & so not welcomed there that I will never go back to this salon. I get my hair done approximately every three months so that adds up to thousands of dollars over the years for the salon that I go to. How this owner could be so incredibly rude to me & twice say to me that I'm acting like he is on ?something? is beyond being unprofessional to me. What kind of person talks about being on ""something"" to a customer? \r If you read this, Merielle, & are willing to work outside of this salon, I would love to have you continue to do my hair. But I will never, ever step foot in this salon again. There are too many great salons in LA to put up with being treated the way I was treated. I will never give the owner of this salon another penny. I truly have never been treated so rudely by anyone. Best Hair Salon on the West Side 2/17/2009

I decided to give this salon a try being that it is so convenient to my yoga studio...and Tommy was fabulous!!! He not only is a sweetheart but he did a great job with highligts and my cut! I don't think I have liked one of my haircuts so much since moving to LA 5 years ago!!! Definetely worth it!! Also my sister had her hair done by Marielle and she was incredible as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Excellent salon Cons: parking more

I have been going to Tommy at Sit Still for about a year now and have had the same great experience each time I have come in. I get a cut and highlights so I am there for 2 or more hours each time and have never witnessed or experienced any unprofessionalism or poor customer service. It is such a labor weeding through Citysearch to find a salon, especially in LA, and I can sympathize with someone new to town looking for a good salon or stylist. I've been going to sit Still for the last 5 or 6 years since I moved from Europe. I love my girl Jo there who has always perfectly taken care of me. A few months ago - yeah, after a breakup - I needed something different and she did the best job and found the perfect color for me. So red, it's really red. And she did such a great job to get it all even and every time I go back I get the same perfect color again!\r The atmosphere is at the salon is very relaxed and you can feel the Venice vibe.\r Thumbs up for the Sit Still Team and Jo!! Pros: Local and great service Cons: except that it always costs money - and you get addicted, can't think of any more

Best haircut and color in town!! 2/11/2009

A friend recommended that I go to Jo for a haircut. Being new in town from London, I didn't know what to expect from an L.A. hairstylist. Lucky for me I popped into Sit Still! I love Jo's style she is so professional and cut my hair with true expertise. I feel really pampered while I'm in her chair. I've been going to her for a year now, and this past month I had her handle my color and style for my wedding. FANTASTIC! All eyes were definitely on me! Jo at Sit Still Rocks! 2/11/2009

Jo has been doing my hair for years...I have African-American hair, that refuses to be tamed and it's very hard to find stylists that know how to cut it properly. She not only cuts it perfect...taking off just enough so it doesn't shrink up making me look like a boy, but she knows how to shape it properly. She has taken me from brunette to platinum blonde (best dye job EVER) and back, short to long, and I am ALWAYS happy with the results. I HIGHLY recommend you check her out...Especially if you want to change your style but don't know what you want to do with it...She's got the skills & intuition to handle the job in a 5 star manner every time! more

Patti persuaded me to lose a has-been hairstyle, and I've never looked back. She gave me a cut that's better looking than any I ever had, and a fabulous color job as well. From fun to pretty, Audrey is the westside's a superstar! 1/22/2009

Finally, I've been meaning to post a review for months....I'm a fairly new client (6 months) but I have gone twice- the first time I did a long layers ""pretty"" cut and the second was a fun shorter loose cut with bangs. Both cuts were amazing, I got showered with compliments after both cuts and the compliments kept rolling in several months later. She cuts so well that rather than going every 6-8 weeks, I can go once every 10-12 weeks--which says a lot coming from me (I used to lifeless hair!). Audrey is incredible. She's fun, real, and is passionate about her work. Almost forgot, she does a stand up job on color- I got some highlights last time and they looked subtle, natural (I didn't know this was possible) yet brightened me up. The color, too, was low maintenance since she listened to what I wanted (a lot of other stylists in the past do what they want....which makes me not want to return). Audrey was phenomenal and had a great personality to boot! My roommate goes to her as well and has been more than satisfied with her hair. Pros: Nice vibe, music, beachy, reasonable prices, happy staff, not stuffy Cons: I have ample products from my first visit & really didn't need more- Audrey asked & I was asked again by the receptionist (honest mistake, I'm sure?!). more

perfect bangs... every time. 1/20/2009

Tommy at Sit Still has been doing my hair for a year now. I've got long hair and blunt bangs that I'm picky about the length of. He does a wonderful job. He listens, he's precise, and he genuinely cares about sending me out the door looking good. I also get a real genuine hug when he first sees me, and one when I'm on my way out the door... which makes me feel as good as I look. Once he even came in on his day off to do my hair for a special occasion! Parking isn't bad if you leave a few extra minutes to look on the side streets, and it's a great street to get lunch, or shop, or get a mani/pedi. more

Mandee at Sit Still gave me the Best Haircut experience I have ever had 12/22/2008

Mandee at Sit Still Salon gave me the greatest haircut experience I have ever had. To put this in context, I am a pain in the butt to cut hair for. I come in with a very clear vision for what I want, lots of pictures, and tremendously high expectations. Mandee exceeded my expectations and this is why --- 1.To give context, I am growing out a Pixie cut. I was at defcon three, (i.e. 4 or 5 inch long hair of varying lengths all over my head.) What did I want for my first grown out hair cut? An amazing bob: chin length with bangs. Something striking, versatile, complimentary to my face shape and structure. What did I get? Exactly what I asked for and so much more. Mandee worked in a ton of strategic, delicate texturizing which makes my cut incredibly versatile. I can do at least 5 different styles with my hair from curly to strait, messy to structured, and each style looks great. ---- 2. Color: To give context, my hair was light coppery brown. What did I want - cool as a cucumber ashy/minky dark color. And no red no red no red. Did we achieve this color the first round? Nope. Did we achieve it with the second round? Hell yes. ---- 3. And that is another reason why Mandee rocks. She doesn't stop until you hair is right. So the first color didn?t work. Within five minutes she was mixing up a new batch of color. ---- 4. Mandee?s passion for what she does is what made this experience exciting for me, yes, exciting. She spent about 3 hours on my hair, and folks, she got in the zone. She was actaully, enjoying herself. (gasp!) ---- 6. It has been 9 days since I got my haircut and the color is intact and the cut continues to evolve beautifully. ---- 7. The kicker....did I mention this was the first time I had ever had my hair cut with Mandee? ----\r \r What more can one possibly want from a haircut experience. She cared as much about my hair looking amazing as I do/did, and you cannot put a price on that. more

Best colorist in Venice 12/14/2008

Colorist who ask too many questions unnerve me, so I was relieved when Jo took control from the start. She recommended a perminant dye that would add intense shine to my dull brown mane. I'd barely nodded approval before she began mixing up a rich espresso hue that she applied from my roots to my ends. In only 30 minutes, the foils came off, and my hair looked softer and healthier that ever before- no question about it! If your looking for a great colorist in Venice you need to go to Sit Still.
