Best

There is usually a long wait, but it is well worth it. Simple as that.

Worst

For those of you who are loyal and have read only positive reviews, I would have had one to give you a month ago. The staff and the service have tumbled terribly downhill; it is n...

Best Pet Care! 1/10/2009

Shively is a wonderful clinic with talented and compassionate vets.\r \r To those of you blaming Shively because you were too stupid to take your pet to an actual 24 hour emergency clinic when they need it, congratulations, you murdered your pet all by your self. You disgust me. Pros: Great vets and care. Cons: Long waits. more

SHIVELY IS HEARTLESS 12/14/2008

Yeah, they may offer great service... but i wouldn't know. I needed after hours care and they wouldn't provide it for me because I was not an established client . . .THANKS FOR NOTHING! more

BEST VET IN TOWN 11/14/2008

I just want to say Shivley is the best around. Dr Joyce is excellent and has been taking care of my one year old cat Oliver. The wait is long at times, but well worth it. They will also work payment plans out as well. What vet would do that. They truly care about the animal and not the money. They refer to your pet as your baby. Pros: how my cat was treated Cons: long wait more

You Get My 5 Stars 11/13/2008

Shively Animal is a 2-3rd generational family owned care facility whose Dr.s are some of the top in the city. We have used them after trying others - I would rather wait 2 hours for them. My pets love the vet techs and all the tech are very caring with them. The care is awesome, the prices don't rob you and I've never heard anything but respectful communication between Dr. and Techs including the front desk. My pets will always go to Shively. Sometimes doing things the old way(no computers)is not as bad as people think. It is one way they are able to keep cost down. Thank you Dr. Joyce for being so wonderful! more

Shivley gives great service but some of the doctors are absoulutley horribl 11/8/2008

I used to work at Shively animal clinic and it was great to see animals getting the care they needed when they accutuallty recieved it. Unfortunetly it was usually a non stop unorgainized mess. They don't have computers which could be very beneficial after looking for a chart for a day because of a mis-file. They do everything old school to cut costs not to provide the most up to date care. They are open 365 days a year and all the doctors are dedicated to their jobs but regarding customer service they suck. All of the staff is rude and hateful because their boss Dr. Mary Jane Fuchs is hateful to them. She calls clients and staff things like stupid and much worst. That was is why I don't work there anymore. The atmosphere is too negative and when u have a sick pet u need caring people there not overworked zombies who have little experience and often make mistakes. more

Best veterinary clinic around 10/20/2008

I live in Radcliff, over an hour away from the clinic. I have 7 animals, 4 cats and 3 dogs. All of my animals recieve treatment from this amazing clinic. Yes, there is a long long wait, but if you catch them around lunch, its usually not as busy. They treat your animals like they are children and even refer to them as ""babies'. They're prices are EXTREMELY low and it is well worth the drive and the wait. Two of my pets have horrible allergies and I drive 2 hours round trip because they are the only people I trust with my pets. I highly recommend them. Pros: Low prices, friendly, clean, helpful... etc Cons: Long wait... but worth it more

Best Vet I Have Seen in 30 Years 10/16/2008

They are great. Take time with you and your pet. I don't understand the one negative review. It does not sound like them at all. Any day you go there the waiting room is crowded because people are willing to wait for someone who really cares about their pet. Simple as that. I drive 60 miles round trip to see them. more

Great doc's-terrible service 10/8/2008

First and foremost, the doctors and the care at this facility are the best to be had in Louisville, however this office is completely stuck in the dark ages. Refusing to make appointments creates a chaotic atmosphere in a waiting room full of irritable clients. Wait times have often reached 3 hours or more just to have your pet seen. The lack of computers in this workplace significantly slows down the process of admitting, seeing, and charging patients, and i've noticed on more than one occassion that my handwritten record has been inaccurate...however, the prices and the dr's are so good I'll probably keep going back in emergencies. I have a normal vet for everyday occurrances, because some days the wait just isnt worth it. more

Great 9/28/2008

These guys are great and very reasonable. Hands down just a great vet:) My dog Charlie doesn't mind at all going to the vet. more

One vet I see 9/24/2008

I've tried other vets and find that the best care comes from the experience of the Shively Animal Clinic doctors. The wait is worth it. The cost is very economical because they do everything on volume. They are just phenomenal! They actually love animals; it's not just a job. Two generations of my family have been going to this place and I've recommended it to all who ask. more

NOT GOOD MORAL'S OR PET CARE 9/7/2008

They don't care about your pet or pet care.. They have no morals and they care about the money before anything else.. I will never go there again and never never recommend them to anyone.. Also i believe to save their own butt's they like to blame the owner of the pet's when something tragic happens and not man up for what they did.. Very bad business practices... more

BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES 9/6/2008

A POOR SICK DOG DIED FROM RECIEVING NO TREATMENT AT ALL AND WANTS TO BLAME THE OWNER WHO WAS SEEKING TREATMENT FOR VERY LOVED AND WONDERFUL COMPANION BUT THE END RESULTS IS SHE IS DEAD NOW.... Pros: TERRIABLE Cons: TERRIABLE more

Very Caring People 7/4/2008

They are great. We found a wild baby bunny that was injured , i called them after hours on a holiday and they told me to bring it in that night. The lady who was working was so sweet and asked me what happened and took the bunny from me. They are a Kentucky certified wildlife rehab, and they are wonderful. We have used them in the past for our African Pigmy Hedgehogs. Dr. Fuchs performed surgery several times on them including removing an eye which had become infected. The hedgehog lived many happy years after that. They were always kind and caring when the hogs got sick and I would take them in there. The wait is bad, but if you have exotics or any other animal it is worth the wait. more

Shively Animal Clinic and Hosp 6/1/2008

My wife is sold on em!...they must be doing something right, cause the place is ALWAYS busy. They worked out a payment plan for our golden retriever that was treated and kept there for an extended period. more

Love These Vets 5/7/2008

I lived in Louisville for 10 years. I only trust my pets with the wonderful doctors at Shively Animal Clinic. When I moved to Lebanon, Ky., I still would take that 60-70 mile drive just to take my pets to them. If they were people doctors, I'd only take my kids to them. Never have I seen such true love of animals from any other place. Every doctor there, as well as every member of the staff, keeps me in awe. more

Great Animal Clinic 2/18/2008

Shively Animal Clinic is an amazing place to go if your pets need treatment or even if they just need their nails trimmed. They treat the animals like their own and they tell you every detail of what is going on. The staff is friendly and the service is great. They also have some amazing prices you won't find anywhere else. Because of this, I think the wait is well worth it. Pros: Excellent Service and Prices Cons: Long Wait more

Tender loving care! 2/18/2008

The best vet we've had in a long time! 12/6/2007

Shively animal clinic was recommended to us by a friend last week when our 10 year old dalmatian was having back spasms. The clinic is open 7 days a week and doesn't charge emergency fees (during normal hours)-even on the weekends! Sure, the wait was long but it was well worth it. Everyone that works there is so nice--from the vets to the receptionist! The vet we saw listened to us and really took the time to examine our dog even though it was towards the end of the day and they were very busy. It was good to have a vet that gave us honest information and didn't recommend a countless tests or surgeries (we've heard it all). She gave our dog some medication and two days later she was running around like a pup. We treat our dog like our child and felt like these are the type of vets that understand that--they even called the next day to see how she was doing! We won't take our dog anywhere else...this is the best place we've ever taken our dog! Not to mention, their prices are ridiculously low! Pros: Prices, great vets and staff, excellent hours of operation Cons: the wait (but it's worth it) more
