I used this company 2 years ago when they were out of New Jersey. Now they are a ""different"" company based out of Queens. Let me just say, this has turned into literally the WORST company to work with during your move. The ""people"" in the office are the RUDEST and ineffective resource. Someone on the phone at the office had me on speaker and was laughing at me with her co-workers when I was upset and calling about being quoted $375 (for 3 men, 1 truck at $75 an hour with a minimum of 5 hours) and then told something different. I get it, I assumed that there would be SOME additional costs in the fine print; you have to charge me for some materials, OK with me. You have to go up 2 flights of stairs, OK, I'll pay you a few extra bucks. But after you've packed up and broken down ALL of my furniture and then show me a piece of paper with a total bill of $1,850 dollars. I AM GOING TO HAVE AN ISSUE. That is over 3x the quoted price. Needless to say, I called the office upset.\r This company charges you $500 for tape, saran wrap, and blankets used to wrap large furniture. Then they charged me for ""long hall"" at $100 per mover (total of $300) to move my furniture 50 ft away from my door to their parked truck. Then they hit traffic before EVEN GETTING to my house and charged me 3 hours travel time. Then, I was also charged $100 PER worker for EACH flight of stairs. They charged us for 7 hours work time because he ""assumed"" it would be longer than the 5 hour minimum (even though it only took him 2 hours to break down all the furniture). \r Needless to say, I spent at least an HOUR back and forth on the phone explaining I wouldn't be able to pay. Then the woman on the phone threatened to take our furniture into storage in New Jersey and hold it there for $50 a day until we pay in full and pick it up ourselves. \r IT WAS RIDICULOUS. Eventually we got the price down to $1,000. But it did not go without some tears, a broken leg on my amour, a broken fire alarm, 2 thrown out box springs, and ONLY 1 assembled piece of furniture. \r Oh and did I mention, I had to provide the tools because they left the office without them. \r I WOULD NOT recommend this company to ANYONE. more

I moved a one bedroom apartment two days ago and my personal experience was marvelous! I was quoted 75 dollars per hour and that is what i payed for. They helped me packed and they put everything very careful in the truck. I was told by the office not to tip the workers but i couldn't help my self. Keep up the Good work Shelli Van Lines! more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The quoted price of $310.00 was jacked up with crazy add ons for materials and supplies. The whole job took only one hour and ten minutes but they billed me for seven hours after being assured the job should not take more than 3 hours. There were two small steps to eneter the door of the house and they charged $150 (3 men @ $50 ea even though only two men actually went into the house I was basicly movein a sofar and a small dersser plus 10 boxes two and a half miles and it cost me $1011.00. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE PRETTY VOICE OF THE GIRL ON THE PHONE WHEN GETTING A QUOTE. Trust me they will tell you she is not working when you call to confrim the quote. THIS COMPANY IS NOT A REPUTABLE OUTFIT more

Worse experience ever. They repeatedly lied about the pricing up front and jacked up the price after they arrived at the destination and had secured signatures and our items. Their quote was $400 less than the next best offer but they ended up costing us over $1000 more. We even got police involved but once you sign on the dotted line with this company you're a victim. DO NOT USE SHELLY VANLINES! more

DO NOT EVER EVER USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! Thanks to all the people who took the time to write about their horrifying experiences with this moving company I was saved from being a victim, so thank you. I booked this company and then stumbled upon all of the bad reviews and exactly what was told to me on the phone by the ""nice girl"" was told to everyone else it appears. more

WORST moving company EVER!\r They quoted us at $75 an hr and after 3 hrs of packing their truck they came to my husband with a total bill of $1,245 And threatened to take all of our belongings to there storage if we didn’t pay, I had to leave work and create a HUGE scene in the middle of the street before they finally released our belongings and left everything in the driveway on a rainy day. In the end we rented a uhaul truck for $36 and did everything ourselves. They are the a bunch of rude people who I’m sure aren’t even here legally! And I'm pretty sure any good reviews on here are most likely employees of the company or fake people all together! more

We were very pleased with our move. They visited our house and provided us with a written quote which was firm. Our goods were well packed and wrapped, as needed, and everything arrived in good condition except for a damaged grill which Shelli van lines reimbursed me for. Mike and Kyle were a great driving team and effectively managed the loading and unloading steps and accessible either by email or phone to answer questions we had about the move.\r more

Movers of this company are highly skilled. They are not amateurs. They know how to manage a tough move within the deadline and budget. I used them for an office move and they did a great job for me. I was not at all hoping to have a perfect move because of the horrible stories that I heard from others. But fortunately I was lucky enough to have them for the move. I am very impressed with their price as well. This is a very good company. I am recommending them more

SCAM Horrible robing me in day light SCAM Don’t ever deal with them They advertise on thing then they charge 400% more other ways they take my furniture and sale it They WILL not unload MY BLONGS unless I pay first Extra charge like $300 for a long walk AS they call it 20 feet from my apartment to the street Minimum 5 hours my moving was only 3 hours more

WORSE SCAM EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5/15/2012

Worse company ever!!! I was given a quote of $65 and hour with 4 guys and a truck. No other charges...well what a lie!!! They showed up an hour early even though I confirmed a 9AM start twice the day earlier!!! When the ""forman"" gave me the papers to sign he told me COD or a cashiers check. That was NEVER mentioned in my conversation with the ""very sweet woman"" yeah right!!!! I told the forman that I could not pay cash and his response was to not worry, they will honor our agreement. I told him to call the office before I signed and was told the office wasn't open until 10AM. Again I was told not to worry. Because I was doing this move on my own I signed and off they went loading furniture. My first concern should have been the excessive amount of packing tape being used. I was literally walking around the apartment picking up empty rolls!!! Mind you I had taped EVERY box that I packed. second concern....if it wasn't in a box (this includes lamps etc) then you would have to purchase a box (prices start at $20!!!). I ended up putting all my lamps, a christmas stable etc. in my own car!!! \r \r So we are all packed up and when we get to my new apartment I get a bill for $1,415!!!! Cash ONLY!!! I told the forman to call the office about using a card as he said that would not be a problem and now his entire demeanor changes. I have to call the office and remember that sweet woman??? Well she turned into Attila the Hun!!! I would never say you could pay with a credit card....We don't even have a machine to swipe the card with!!!! OK so now you know you have been scammed because that's not what the foreman said!!!\r \r THEY SAT IN THEIR TRUCK for 1 and 1/2 hours while my family worked at getting the $1,415!!! In fact they charged me for 7 hours packing time and 2 hours driving time. They showed up at 8 AM and were leaving by 2PM...obviously don't add very well.\r \r Packing tape???Charged me $3.50 a roll and used 20 yes 20 rolls. They charged $25 to box my TV. Best one...$300 because of the steps!!! They knew I lived in and was moving to a 2nd floor apartment but never included that in the quote.\r \r These people are theives!!! Run when you hear this company name...Biggest scammers in the industry and they ARE NOT BBB. more
