Shelli Van Lines Moving And Storage

I am a believer that everyoe deserves a chance, but this company does not. I was ripped off badly. I was quoted $65 an hour which was suppose to include almost everthing. It took the movers about three hours to pack, it took us an hour and 30 mins to get to the storage area, it took them 3 hours( granted they could not use certain routes). When they got there, they gave us a total of $1490 due before we could get our belongings. Thye changred us for tolsl when was suppose to be included, they changed for ""long run"" $150.00. There were a lot of hidden charges that we unfortunately had to pay otherwise we would not have had our belongings. I wish I had heeded the reviews that I had read, but as mentioned before I believed that everyone deserved a chance. I am so sick to my stomach, but there is nothing I can right now. When I called on Saturday, someone by the name od Sheila posed as part owner. When I called to Monday the 9th, there was no one there by that name. Its a scam guys, please do not be cheated like I was. My second step is Business of Better Bureau, then court. They have to be stopped. more

Worst experience ever... Every negative comment is accurate... horrible experience, got robbed for twice as much as I was quoted AND they just left my stuff in the parking lot of my condo, so my boyfriend & I had to move everything on our own in the dark. I wasted an hour and a half on the phone w/ the woman in the office who was useless and continued to just put us on hold (without telling us she was doing it)... and of course they charged me for that time. If I didn't pay what they asked, they offered to ""store my stuff until I had the money, then pay an additional $500 fee to have the delivery rescheduled""... NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! And if you've used them and want to take action, I will be filing for a full refund... please feel free to reach out to me at shellivanlinescam at gmail. Although I'd love to put this place out of business so no one has to deal w/ an experience like this, all I can do is go after what I paid, but I would love to see others get their (practically stolen) money back as well! more

HORRIBLE!!!!! Do not use this company, CROOKS!! Quoted me a quote of 65 and hour yeah right!! PACKING MATERIAL over 800.00 they worked for 5 hours and charged me for 8!!! SCUM!!!! I contacted Shelli Van Lines on November 22nd in regards to my move. They assured me that everything will be taking care of and that they will provide a stress free move. I had nothing to worry about. They gave me a rate of $65 an hour which i was ok with. I stated many times that i need to move on Monday November 28 or no later than November 29th. They said they can do Monday November 28th. This was great because i am off Monday and Tuesday. I received an email from Melissa to confirm my move. It said November 29th Tuesday in the amount of 65.00 for a 3 men crew. I was ok with that i thought they found an opening for Tuesday. THIS IS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL DISGUSTING COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY LIFE. I HAD SCHEDULED AN APT FOR 8AM AND THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. WHEN I CALLED THEM THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD GOTTEN DENIED BY THE BUILDING I WAS MOVING INTO FOR THEIR INSURANCE (LIES). WHEN WE FINALLY GOT THE INSURANCE DEBACLE HANDLED(OR SO I THOUGHT)THEY SAID THEY WERE SENDING A TRUCK AND IT WOULD BE HERE SOON. I LATER CAME TO REALIZE THEY NEVER CLARIFIED ANYTHING ABOUT THE INSURANCE WITH MY BUILDING AND THEY ALSO NEVER SHOWED UP. I'M CONSIDERING THIS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE AFTER READING ALL THE COMMENTS ABOUT PEOPLE WHO GOT SCAMMED BY THEM. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! The ABSOLUTE WORST business transaction ever!!!! Moved 1 room of furniture from NJ to Queens. Original quote of $75 an hour, no extras (that is what we were told)!!! Told us not even to tip the guys. Prior to leaving or driveway, we informed them that the NY City Marathon was being run today, the response was ok. They left our driveway and within an hour, the driver (Josh) called and said that they could get across the bridge because it was closed for the marathon DUHHHH!! They said they would have to add 11/2 additional hours for travel. Then it gets worse....When we called the office for assistance, the woman who answered the phone was rude and yelled stating that it was not their responsibility for knowing what the travel obstacles were. REALLY!!!!! The finally figured out a way around and got there more than a hour later. When they got to our new place, the price tripled!!! They revealed that there was a 5 hr min of work time, not including travel. The charged for 5 rolls of tape, boxes and blankets that were completely unneeded!!!! It went from a few hundred to nearly a thousand dollars. They said we received a confirmation e-mail concerning all of the charges, NOPE!!!!! They would not let us see the contract, the reason being that other customers have taken the contract and either ran away with it or destroyed it, REALLY!!!??? They expected payment before they moved a box into the new place and even expected us to be thankful for not paying a fee for their travel time back to the office after unloading. How can you even do that??? I found these BOZO's through a search engine, STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!! more

I am a real customer and do not work for a competitor, as Adam, the sales rep, said most complaints are from. Job No: R518777 on 10/1/11. One word...Extortion. 1 of the 3 men didn't lift a finger. They retaped and reboxed most items, and charged a whopping $254 for it. I was only made aware of 2 boxes needed for lamps, which I authorized. They overcharged me and suggested instead of getting a refund I just tip the movers even more money than I already had. And I couldn't dispute anything at the time because they make you sign a form saying they won't unload until you prepay. I wrote a complaint with the BBB. I'll let you know how it turns out. more

They are rude, slow and will over charge you! Notice that all the positive reviews are done on the same days, the company left them. Call them and ask about the negative reviews and they will yell at you. You are a sucker if you go with this company, listen to the reviews!!! more

This company gave me a estimate of my move when these lazy useless movers where done it was over double the price, and forget getting your deposit back, so to make your bill higher the deposit is their's. My home did not sell so I asked them to return my stuff to the same address in Ct. and please do not send this rude,driver who did not know anything about moving except to destroy as much as he could, well guess who came on the delivery, yes useless and after he claimed he wa done leaving my TV for me to assemble among other items. All he wanted was give me the money and sign the papers and said everything was there. When I checked, 4 lamps, computer chair, air conditioner hose for inside conditioner, 4 pillows, shelves from my TV compartment, well you get the idea. I called the office where all you get is a big runaround and I was told we fould your stuff we will deliver when we can, it is four days now and they are talking next week and I suppose I will see that useless, rude driver, I hope not. I MOVED FROM JERSEY CITY TO HOBOKEN LAST WEEK WITH SHELLI VANLINES HAD A WONDERFUL MOVE WITH THEM THEY WERE FAST HONEST AND PUNTUAL!!! VERY COURTIOUS AND CARING DEFANITLY WOULD RECCOMED THEM TO ANYONE !!!! more

I got my quote form them and was a bit leery at first since some companies try to stiff you.But this company didn't.The amount they charged was very good for what I was moving, compared with what other companies I've looked at before this were asking. \r On the day of my move they showed up and I didn't have to tell them much.I showed them what needed to be moved out of my apartment and what goes into the new house and they did it.Then they guys even offered to help me move some of the stuff that was left from my packing.Such a nice staff, they answered all my questions and even removed my things carefully from my apartment.When I got to the new place they were there waiting with my stuff, on time and everything.It was a bit weight lifted off my shoulders, knowing my stuff had gotten there ok.They even waited while I checked my breakable things.\r They are excellent at what they do and provide really good service. If you're like me and don't want your stuff broken.Use them! more

They moved my stuff really quicky.I had everything wrapped up and ready to go.They showed up right when they said they would and I told them wat I needed them to be careful with, since I ha d breakable stuff, and they were very careful.All of my stuff arrived to my new apartment on time and unbroken.I was so happy I chose this place to help me move my things to my new place!! This was by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. They provided a quote that ended up being $1000 different from what I paid. Many of my items arrived broken and my couches showed up with rat droppings inside them. I paid for additional insurance on these items and still have not received payment for anything (4 1/2 months later). Before receiving my broken items, I had to pay using a credit card that ended up being stolen shortly after they hand wrote my AMEX number on a piece of paper because their credit card machine was broken. While I cannot prove they racked up the $1200 in fraudulent charges, when I approached their sorry excuse for a manager about this he openly called my situation funny. In addition to being broken everything arrived days late leaving me and my wife in an empty apartment with nothing. When I finally got the call that my items would be arriving I was told I had to pay a fee to transfer my items into a smaller truck to fit on my street. This was one of many charges that were forced upon me and not mentioned in our contract. Overall, they are RUDE, CLASSLESS AND IRRESPONSIBLE THIEVES. Their company is a joke. Please do yourself a favor and avoid them at all costs. I honestly wouldn't use them again if they offered me a free move. more

first they will quote one and get the money for reservation, when the loading team arrives they will hike your quote by 70 to 80% for the same stuff they quoted before and will ask more money.\r second they will load the stuff in the truck and the complain it took more space and ask you for more. \r third delivery- this is the worst part. the team delivers are soo rude, filthy words (i was upset when they started using all worst words in front of my children). the driver demanded more money sincethe truck to home from door was more that 40 feet. they manager agreed not to charge for this while giving the quote but driving was yelling for money.\r \r the loading and delviery guy speaks someother language, when there is a dispute he will call his boss in NJ and they all speak that language and fool you.\r last part - many packages were damanaged, when i called their office multiple time the manager never called back. i always get the message that he is in warehouse and will return my call.\r \r I WILL NOT TRUST THIS COMPNAY EVEN IF THEY QUOTE BELOW OTHERS.\r \r ps: do not beleive the positive review below. call BBB or look for review comments in the web. the compnmay employees are posting many positive comments here ! more

after dealing with many different companies, i choose shelli at the end due to the professionalism i got with all the employees. they didnt leave and room for me to ask any questions because they explained everything in clear detail. I really appreciated the fact that they wrapped all my belongings and I DID pay for packing of mirrors and tv,s and other glass and fragile stuff, at least they were honest to let me know they needed to be packed and they told me the price, as oppose to finding this out after they showed up. i guess thats why nothing was damaged. some companies where telling me I can just put my tv and mirrors on there truck with blankets. it didnt sound right nor professional. 2000 mile move with 4 mirrors on a bumpy ride and thats ok? they did show up 2 hours early, which i would have known before hand if i had my cell phone ringer ON. they got my stuff to california in 16 days. not bad at all, figuring they have to stop in every state to check in with the department of transportation. my husband is a trucker.. just be very clear in what you need and what u want in regards to your move. believe me there are scammers out there. thank you elvin for a great move with shelli. I would like to start out by saying this was the second time i have used Shelli Vanlines to assist me in moving. I first used them last year when my job relocated me from NJ to NY. I have 3 children so doing this move on my own would have been a nightmare. They came in and yes i did pay for items they had to pack but it was well worth it to see my items protected and if i had the time i would have packed those items myself. With the move last year i only had to pay an hour extra which was reasonable since it did take them an hour longer. This year i again had to relocate due to my job however this time to Florida. I again called Shelli Vanlines. I had gotten other estimates much lower than Shelli but the other companies estimates were nowhere near comparison to my household. Shelli Vanlines was right there on the mark with how much my move would cost(of course now i had everything packed so no packing cost..lol). I would definately use Shelli Vanlines again should i ever have to move again.. God i hope not!!! Pros: professional & caring Cons: a little more expensive yet worth every penny. more

i can say i was very skeptical about hiring Shelli because of there reviews on the internet. i look up all the other companies that contacted me and not for nothing but they all seemed to share the same nature in complaints. I know you can make everyone happy and some people are just to much.. like myself and i am a woman...Now my move was from Neptune NJ to South orange Nj. I did pay more about 300 more. I had alot more than I thought i did and i need certain items to be protected by special packing. I cant belive that all these reviews are real. How can all these companies have the same complaints about them. Shelli Van lines, Nicole, explained the way the BBB works. They only had 26 complaints to the BBB in 3 years... They do over 200 moves in one month and get this for them to be such a horrible company , how have they been in business for 10 years? I also compared that to the other companies who have only been in business no more than 2 years. I wouldnt bother with Quality van Lines in Clifton NJ they were trying to get my business with out a licenses to operate. Thank you shelli Van Lines for a great move. First, their estimate tripled. Then they refused to negotiate and threatened to drive off with our belongs. After hours of negotiation and a visit from the police we unfortunately allowed them to move out stuff. It arrived late with multiple broken objects and a they stole my PS3. We filled a claim which they now refuse to pay. Steve Shelli the owner is a very rude and unpleasant person to deal with and not at all concerned about costumer satisfaction. I would not believe any review that is positive for this company. Please call the NJ BBB prior to using this company. Cons: Where to begin? Just do not use them. more

we only moved about 4 times in the last 15 years but I knew what to expect pretty much from a moving service as moving days is something that tends to stick with you. Once Sheli arrived in the morning, we filled some paper work with the driver while the other guys started to work in the living room. We had to run out as we didnt manage to make it to the bank the day before along with some other quick errands. It couldn't have been more than an hour from the time we left, when we entered the house we couldn't believed our eyes- the living room furniture was already loaded in the truck along with our formal dining room and kitchen! we were kind of stunt at first, as we werent sure if they actually wrapped everything with the blankets like the office said they would. but after a reassurance from the driver who told us to have a peek at the back of the truck, it just became obvious to us that these guys knew what they were doing.
