I had been researching everywhere to find the perfect makeup artist for my sister's wedding. We wanted to find a makeup artist who we felt comfortable with, who really knew their stuff, and was just very reliable. I find the NYC makeup artist scene to be very intimidating. The artists I spoke with were just kind of rude an into themselves! And I could not BELIEVE what they had the nerve to charge. I mean it's shocking! Anyway, I found out about Shara online and then was directed to her reviews and called. She was completely different. She was completely professional and happy to talk about anything. My sister went for her trial and loved it. I feel so lucky to have found such a gem and would tell anyone looking for a makeup artist to call her. Pros: LOVE THIS GIRL! Cons: not a single one more

I decided to treat myself to a makeup lesson, because I have no idea what to do with my makeup, and was not about to trust a department store with my face. My cousin once told me she was hired to be a makeup artist at Bloomingdales without any experience. So, that was number one for me. To go to someone who really knows their stuff! I spoke to Shara over the phone who sounded so friendly and showed up for my lesson. She went through my entire makeup case and we did a major cleaning. That alone was worth it! Then, Shara went step by step starting by giving me an awesome eyebrow shape. We did foundation, eyes, lips, and cheeks. I wish I could have video taped it. This girl is good! I went to three, YES THREE, bridal trials and was driving myself crazy to find a makeup artists here in NYC that did amazing makeup. I took a leap of faith and made a bridal trial last week with Shara. Before my appoitment, I felt so dissapointed that I hadn't found my match, but hoped that Shara would be great. And she was!!!! She was an absolute 10. A magician who knew her way around making my face the prettiest I have ever looked. I am so happy to have found her and I wish I could spread the work to all of NYC's brides that Shara is NO JOKE!!!! Pros: A perfect 10! Gorgeous makeup. Happy personality. Great addition to my wedding day. Cons: My fiance thinks I can look like that all the time :) more

Like some other reviewers, this will be my first review! I use this site a lot to find NYC gems, but never felt like I wanted to write a review. It's funny, because I actually joked at my lesson that I may write a review and HERE I AM! Anyhow, I booked a makeup lesson and it made my month. I was feeling really icky and was in need of a major makeup boost. I brought my makeup case (it was really quite pathetic) to show Shara. She never judged, laughed, or made me feel silly..and believe me, I was really something to poke fun of. But, Shara was highly patient, never talked down to me, a master teacher, a wonderful artist, and an all around good person. Very nice to meet someone in this city so down to earth in this profession. I took some advice and went to Sephora to ""build my makeup case"" and got some really beautiful things. Thankfully Shara offers this makeup shopping, because I really had no clue what to get. At least now, I know I spent money on things that I will actually use. I don't feel like a makeup wiz after one hour, but I certainly have the right tools, the right colors, and some good knowledge how to go about my makeup. Shara also knows about skin and I was very glad to get some advice, because this NYC polution is killing me. I will most definitely go back again after I practice what she taught me. I was in desperate need of makeup help. I was hopeless! Then, I saw all these glowing reviews (not one bad things said really) and called to make an appoitment. The thing i really liked when I called is that i left a message and Shara herself got back to me the same day. There were no annoying, bratty receptionists making my appoitment. I came to understand that this is Shara's small business and she likes to be very hands on. She told me to bring my makeup case and I was so mortified, because mine had like a couple Maybelline and Loreal things..nothing great. When I arrived, she never once made me feel silly. Even when I giggled, because she made me copy her beautiful work on the other side of my face, she never laughed at me. She was so patient and told me which was to point the brush and how not to feel foolish. I am so glad there is someone out there who takes their job so seriously. She is so talented and understanding and took her time. I never felt rushed or nervous. After our lesson, I left with notes to help me remember what we did. I went to Sephora with Shara and purchased products to start my beauty kit. Oh yeah!! i am talking..nars and makeup for ever...I am so excited to start my beauty routine! And just in time for the spring..now! Now, I just need to sleep more, go to the gym, and drink water! haha..oh well, one step at a time! I have never written a review before, but after meeting with and having a bridal trial with Shara, I feel compelled to do so. I had a few bridal trials before her and I cannot recommend her enough! Shara is very professional and super sweet. She really takes her time with you and gives you her honest and professional opinion. She is an overall great artist, with reasonable prices and much better quality thatn most others in this profession. It is refreshing to meet someone who has a sunny disposition and sincere attitude in this business! She used false individual lashes in my trial that looked great, natural and just enough to enhance but still gorgeous, and offered make up and skin care tips as well. All of my friends adored her work when they saw the pictures! I only decided to use someone else because they do both hair and makeup for the big day, but other than that, I would DEFINITELY go back to Shara again with no heisitation! I went on NYC citysearch, because I am from California and I needed to find a NYC makeup artist to help me look amazing for a party I was going to last week. Although my husband was coming with me and I wanted him to love my look, I hadn't seen an ex of mine for 4 years and I wanted to look STUNNING. I made an appointment with Shara after reading these glowing reviews and prayed it would be great. When I went to her studio, I just had the feeling I got lucky and was in the right hands! She is beautiful and sweet and so welcoming! We chatted and then about 30 minutes later, I was done. When my husband picked me up, he really couldn't keep his hands off me (and I have been married for 10 years!). After makeup, I went to go get a blowout and every complimented my makeup and lashed. I felt like Shara's agent, because I kept handing out her cards. I should get commision! But, anyway, the party was amazing to say the least and I am so sad to don't live in NYC to see Shara all the time. Pros: I felt beautiful, my husband couldn't keep his hands to himself all night! Cons: I don't live in NYC and can't get makeup with Shara all the tim! more

I went to Shara last weekend with my makeup case (it had like 4 products in it..no joke!) and really needed a makeover! I wanted to know my colors, how to do natural makeup, and also what products to buy. Shara was with me for over an hour and was so patient. Great makeup artist and teacher. And now, I just need to practice. I really feel a lot better about the whole beauty thing :) Pros: Great teacher and artist. Cons: nothing bad to say more

Hello all who reads this. I'm Laurie and I am a makeup junkie. Problem arrives when the makeup junkie has no idea how to apply makeup. While searching for a good lesson, I came across Shara's profile and read some reviews about her lessons. I called expecting to be paying an arm and a leg (this is the Upper East Side) and what I got was completely different. I spoke with Shara and found her to be charming and accomodating. I made my appoitment for the end of the week. I learned so much in that hour. We not only discussed application, but we also talked about the right colors for me. I went home and realized I had been working with the opposite colors for my tone. Some colors made me look older and not bright looking at all. I called Shara and asked her for a personal shopping session. She met me at Sephora and opened my eyes to the exact colors I needed to be working with. For all that money I had spent on useless makeup, this totally makes sense to me. I told her she needed to solely have a business for lesson and personal makeup shopping! She is that good at it. I am recommending all my friends to go and see her. It was a treat that I will gain from every day. For years, I always wanted to know why makeup artists applied my makeup to look so beautiful and then when I got home with the same products I bought, it looked not so good. I mean, this was a mission. To learn to do my makeup. My mistake was, I would always go to Sephora. I realize now that the girls are more trained on each brand of makeup, and less trained on the actual application. I have to admit that I have great skin. I don't need a ton of foundation. I wanted to learn how to do a smokey eye. Enough of the plain jain. When I called Shara, I wanted an appoitments ASAP. Even thought she was very busy, she tried to offer me every available time, which I love. It means she really is interested in helping people and she is a go getter. I sat with her for one hour and she showed me how to apply my makeup step by step. Then, she typed up exactly what I learned and what products would suit me best. The cool thing was that she wasn't trying to sell me on any one brand. She just happends to know what is best for all brands. After we were finished, she accompanied me to the Sephora accross the street and she showed me what I needed in order to complete the look we figured out. Now, I know my winter colors and all the tools I need to make me look the best. I have always been into looking my best and now I am fully armed! Pros: Great makeup lesson, got everything I needed. Very knowledgable. Extremely Patient and good natured. Cons: Now I know all my winter colors, I may need to go back in the summer when I am tan! more

I just felt like I wanted to write a little something about the makeup services I had this past weekend. I went to a wedding this past New Years Eve and I was a bridesmaid. I loved the fact that Shara, the makeup artist, showed at the hotel we were getting ready at early and completely prepared. She had 7 people to do and she was pleasant, professional, and accomodating. Each person was completely happy. We all had different thoughts on how we wanted to look and she gave everyone a great look. She really felt like part of our family. I hope everyone who is having a wedding considers having Shara do the makeup. She is just so talented and I am so glad the bride picked her so we all got to have amazing pictures. All night long we were all getting compliments on our beautiful makeup and it was all thanks to Shara. Pros: Great job! more

I booked Shara last week after seeing the beautiful pictures on her website and reading these reviews. It was for my bridal trial. I was literally quoted $1000 for me to get my makeup done for my wedding and though I want to look my best, I was hoping for a bit less than 1,000 dollars! I get the feeling no matter who I am booking and trying to book for my wedding, I am getting ripped off. It's sad, but I know it's a business. I just didn't realize how big the business is! The great thing about Shara is that she didn't try and rip me off. She didn't have a time clock and was only going to work with me for X amount of time. She wasn't satisfied until I was completely happy with my application. I loved my makeup and I am so excited to have it again on my wedding day! I am a mother of two and admittingly, not a girlie girl. I don't wear a ton of makeup. I have a hard enough time making sense of my outfits and getting my hair to resemble something neat. I just don't put in the time I should to my look. I am sure a lot of women out there know my drill. I have a job and raise 2 teenage daughters. Who has time for beauty? It's hard to admit, but my husband asked the other day if I can start ""looking gorgeous"" again. He is a sweet man and he meant no harm, but he thinks I am very attractive and wanted me to put the time in. I found these reviews and called to make an appoitment for a makeup lesson. I learned so much and I feel like I actually know what I am doing. I see makeup as more of a relaxation excersize now. Shara showed me that I don't even need a lot and it takes as little as 5 minutes to look a whole lot better. And my husband really appreciates it! Haha. My daughter got married last weekend and it was absolutely beautiful. The night before her wedding (7 PM), I got the phone call no one wants to ever get. The makeup artist (will not mention a name) called to tell me she was sick and will no longer be available to do makeup for my daughter, her 5 briedesmaides, myself, and the groom's mother. I PANICKED. I mean, this was a makeup artist I signed a contract with and gave a deposit to! After about an hour of sheer panic, I went to citysearch and found Shara. I called and prayed. Shara picked up the phone and listened as I explained what had happened. She did not interupt and only wanted to see if she could help. When I told her my daughter's wedding was the next afternoon, she told me I was very lucky. She already had a wedding, but it was an evening start and was not going to be there until 3:30. She did not take advantage of my situation and discussed her normal rated with me. It was set. That morning, I had hoped she wouldn't be a flake. She showed up, 10 minutes early and set up camp. She was an organized, beautiful woman, and she was ready to work. And Stacy, the bride looked soooo grogeous. I wish I could post pictures on here. Everyone was so happy with her, and I truly believe they would have not been so happy with the other artist, had she come. I am letting everyone know about Shara. I am so glad it all worked out. I get my makeup professionally done a lot because I have a very busy social life. I go out to parties, charity functions, and other events often. I always find that there is a style in Manhattan of doing makeup. It always looks good, but plain. Maybe it's just me? But, I like to look glamorous sometimes as well. I read the reviews and contacted Shara and I was not let down. I don't think I could get bored with her makeup, because she has so many ideas and when I explained different things I like, she knew what I was saying. I hope some people don't find this ridiculous, but I'm getting married this coming March and started my makeup and hair trials in September!. I had some crazy dreams where I looked aweful and wanted to make sure that didn't happen. I want to look like myself, but I don't want a doubt in my mind that I don't look my best. I had three trials, all of whom came recommended by friends who recently got married. The artists were nice, but no one would listen to me and what I wanted. I want natural, glowy makeup and a bit smokey (light smokey) on the eye. And they all wanted to do airbrush and I don't like the look. I felt like they were ""selling"" me and I don't want to feel like I am being sold for my wedding day. I wanted someone who I felt like I could trust. I had been getting really nervous about it and then I found this ad. I called Shara to speak and told her my situation. She didn't think I was crazy at all. I like a girl without judgements! I wanted to come in ASAP and she fit me in THE NEXT DAY! And there must be some higher power working on my behalf, because I absolutely loved it. She listened to everything I said to the T. I booked her on the spot and trust her completely with my family and bridesmaides. And another great thing is, after I booked her, she gave me her email and responded to all my silly questions. The next day she sent me a photo of our trial. She has the patience of a saint! Love that girl! Pros: I finally found my makeup artist for my wedding. She is patient, talented, and reasonable! I am so happy to have read there reviews and to have called Shara. I was looking forever for a good makeup artist and I finally found her!!! And she is a sweet, young, beautiful, and talented little lady. I could have spent hours with her just chatting. Shara is GREAT! I am the mother of a Bat Mizvah aged daughter and found her through google. Then, I saw these reviews and called. SO convinient that she is right on the upper east side. The makeup was simply gorgeous and she really cares about making every little thing perfect. Which is funny because I found out she was a virgo and she certainly has the traits of wanting perfection! I recently called Shara because she had done my makeup for my best friend's wedding. I got her card and planned on calling when I needed to look great. Unfortunately, I lost that card. I had a terrible experience with a makeup studio on the upper east side. They basically airbrushed me and made me look like I was wearing a mask. But, enough about that horror. I was looking at this site, and I found Shara again! Yay! I use Shara now whenever I want to look beautiful. I have my makeup done sometimes to go to dinner and sometimes when I go to a black tie event. The best thing is, we are always on the same wavelengh. I don't like when makeup looks the same when you are going out to dinner and then to a black tie. I recommend Shara with full confidence. Pros: Great makeup, no stress Cons: none! more

I feel like we can do anything online, even find our makeup artists! I came to this site through random research and then checkout out the website. I was really impressed with what I saw and the pictures, so I booked my trial. I loved my trial makeup and thought it was so great that my digital picture was taken after and sent to me the next day.
