Wonderful seafood! 2/16/2003

As in the Palisade tradition, the seafood is delicious, especially the king crab legs on a cedar plank! The service is courteous and prompt, not anything particular. Pros: Seafood Cons: No view more

Please! 1/2/2003

This restaurant was so hyped that I went there with such an expectation and oh boy, was I disappointed. I should've known - I learned that this restaurant has the same chef as Palisades. The ambience was just a big corporate fancy restaurant befitting its location in Bellevue downtown. Although food was ok, it lacked any charm or uniqueness - no wonder when the kitchen offers 18 main dishes (!!) and about equal number of appetizers - can anyone make so many dishes in perfection in one night? This is just a corporate replica of that tourist trap known as Palisades for poor suburbinites who don't have other options. Pros: location Cons: food, cost more

Over-priced food in nice environment 12/31/2002

I went to Sea Star under a recommendation of a friend. The ""tower"" appetizer was pretty good. The entrees were mediocre at best. I ordered ahi tuna, and it was basically seven to eight pieces of sashimi-size seared tuna with well decorated soy source and vasabi and a very small portion of vegetable. My friend ordered a salad with fresh fruit dish, and it was green vegetable with tangy dressing with pebble-size tropical fruits. We think they use the same sauce in the dessert we ordered. Basically, we think the food are over-priced. You have to find street parking or pay for valet. The services were much better than the food. more

Fab-U-lous 12/31/2002

Simply the best. My entree (Tiliapia) was cooked to perfection. The fish melted in my mouth like Fois Gras. more

Love Seastar 12/18/2002

Seastar is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is fantastic and the surroundings are wonderfully comfortable. more

You Gotta Love This Place! 12/12/2002

Not only did I have my best meal ever...Sirloin Steak with grilled pickled onion, portabellas and blue cheese. But I got to see one of my favorite baseball players ""Edgar Martinez"" was enjoying a meal in the lounge with I presume his wife! Cool! My better half, a veggie throughly enjoyed herself as well. The sushi chef made her a vegetarian roll, and her dinner, a enormous portabella mushroom on creamed spinach, she was delighted. Great wine selection with at least 20 bottles priced under $30. We had a great time, we'll be back! Pros: Cool People, Food, Wine Cons: Can't think of any! more

OK, small sushi selection, overpriced 11/6/2002

I would go back for the ambiance, but be prepared to pay more than you normally would for just about everything. The sushi selection is pretty small, and again, its overpriced. Slow service. Pros: good sushi, ambience Cons: overpriced, slow service, sushi selection small more

Uneven at best 10/18/2002

We recently visited for the 3rd time and once again found the food uneven at best. So this time we decided to rate it. The signature crab cakes were delightful, hot and served within a minute of the order! The main courses were slapped together & one close to inedible. The good: grilled halibut was fine; the bad: the grilled salmon was dry and served on a bed of cold rice accompanied by broccoli that hadn't been cooked. Couldn't cut it. Worse the restaurant seemed filled with people parading around to no end, some carrying camera gear. The chef was out front chatting when we arrived and was still there when we left. He might better attend to the food. Pros: good wines, good service, plenty of room Cons: chef distracted, supernumeraries, parades more

Paradise on the Eastside! 10/10/2002

WOW! We had dinner at Seastar Friday June 7th. It was incredible....Fresh sushi for an appetizer, plus yummy scallops Great size portions. Maytag blue cheese salad was so big we shared! and the Halibut was the best I've ever eaten. This is a wonderful Classy but casual reswtaurant and I found the staff to be friendly well trained, proffesional, knowledgable and proud of the restaurant We will go back again and again.....P.S. The best wine list I've seen in Bellevue. Pros: good parking, great wine list Cons: too much food more

Very Impressed 9/26/2002

I can't say anything bad about Seastar. The service was really standout. The food was spectacular, from the appetizers (oysters, calamari, crab cakes), to entrees (parmasean encrusted halibut), to desserts (peach napolean). more

great design 9/23/2002

I dined at Seastar awhile back, and had high expectations for the restaurant and its food. My dish was the Alder Smoked Salmon, which I was very impressed with. The decor was very elegant, but left me with a cold feeling. Maybe it was the lack of people in the restaurant (which could have warmed up the place a bit?!?). I will definitely be back to give it another try, but am not going with such high of expectations. more

Finally good seafood in Bellevue 9/10/2002

I work at a hotel. It used to be whenever a guest wanted to go out for seafood, the only option that we had was to send them to Kirkland. Since Seastar has opened, we have sent many guest there. They always came back raving about it. When I finally got the opportunity to try it out myself, I was delighted. Everything about this restaurant is spectacular...the food, the service, the atmosphere. Pros: service, food, atmosphere more

Absolutely Fabulous 8/28/2002

WOW!!...the Eastside has needed a 1st Class restaurant for years and now Chef John Howie has provided one in spades...Fantastic seafood, gorgeous steaks, an incredible selection of delicacies at the rawbar and a winelist to die for put together by sommelier Eric Liedholm...add to that a nouveau NW atmosphere and exquisite service (ask for Victor or Aka when you make your reservations)...the resulting sum is definitely worth experiencing repeatedly...I have been there five times since their March opening and will continue to introduce friends and family to this absolutely fabulous dining experience... more

seastar is a definite 10* 8/24/2002

I've dined at Seastar restaurant many times now and it is definitely one of Seattle's best new restaurants. The service is as good as it gets and the food is fabulous! If you haven't already been in to see for yourself then it's time to check it out. Pros: service, food, ambience more

great seafood! 8/24/2002

great place! i love palisades, so i was sure i would love this place...the scallops were great, the seared ahi was fresh and melted in your mouth like butter..the drinks were strong...although it seemed like the place was made for the snobby caucasian folk with money...but it was good. i recommend it, but only as a special occasion place! more

Never falls short 8/16/2002

I am a frequent visitor to Sea Star and have to say I have never been disappointed. The service is always top-notch, surroundings that embrace anything from jeans to jewels, and food that is consistently fabulous from my favorite Caeser salad to Smoked Scallop Penne ending with - of course - the White Chocolate Banana Cream pie or Molten Chocolate cake. Thanks for coming to the Eastside! Pros: Food, People, Location more

Fab again! 8/13/2002

I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. We ate in the bar and had a fabulous\r cocktail and several of the appetizers. All were yummy! Thanks John Howie for a great Eastside restaurant! Pros: Easy parking, great food and service more

It's a Star, Sea You There 8/12/2002

This restaurant has great tasting food. The menu changes periodically and service is great. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and a good place for a nice family dinner. Sea Star's a good place to go with your friends or for business. Pros: delicious, good appearance, price reasonable Cons: parking, bigger menu more

For the Eastside, i, t's the ONLY place! 8/12/2002

Honestly, for those up-n-comers, as well as those who are just relaxing...can't think of a better place to be than Seastar. Staff is friendly and helpful, and while they can sometimes get a bit busy, they don't forget you're there! On top of all that, they have great food...you can get sushi (and other raw faire), as well as other fantastic food (including selections for meaties and veggies). And to complement it all, there is some of the greatest wine selections you can find in all of the greater Seattle area...along with a staff who knows their wine and, even better, what to pair it with...and they'll do it with both cheap and expensive picks! Top notch! Style...all the way! Try it...you won't be disappointed. And best of all, try out the Happy Hour...with very good specials on sushi and drinks. more

Fantastic! 8/7/2002

This restaurant is incredible! The seafood is fresh and cooked in a way that enhances the flavor - not cover it up. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great place to eat. Pros: Fresh, Incredible atmosphere, Wonderful sushi! more
