Long Layers...done well!!! 2/21/2011

Had a nice consultation with Chrissy before the cut. Really felt listened to and walked out with bangs that blended in to my long hair maybe better than ever before and long layers that were exactly what I was hoping for...light layers on top while keeping the length full...that makes sense to those of you with long hair :) more

Let me start with the website...you can make an appointment ONLINE! I love love love this!!! The salon itself...the new receptionist was very nice and the salon was welcoming and CLEAN! \r \r My consultation was more thorough than I have ever had! Chrissy and I discussed color and the cut and the overall feel I wanted. She encouraged me to look though hair books while we were doing the color to make sure that we were on the same page.\r \r Chrissy DID NOT DISAPPOINT! For the first time in more than 10 years, I left a salon feeling GREAT. I love the color and the cut. I have had more than 5 people (in one day) ask me if I had in colored contacts because the color of my hair makes my blue eyes pop now. (I went from ash blonde to a beautiful red).\r \r More than anything, Chrissy made sure that I knew how to style my hair at home, which I have never ever had a stylist do.\r \r Because I felt so great, I went for a brow wax as well and Bobbi did a great job!\r \r Be forewarned though, don't go there hungry...the vanilla/fruit scented paraffin, the chocolate cream wax and the coconut lotion made me crave a sweet treat!\r \r Though the prices are a little high on the services and product, sometimes you get what you pay for!!!! \r \r I DEFINATELY will go back.....finally found a salon!! SALON DACOTA AWESOME 2/20/2011

IT WAS AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I JUST WALKED IN THERE BY FLUKE, SINCE EVERYWHERE ELSE I TRIED HAD A LONG WAIT OR NO WALK INS. I SAW THIS SALON AND THEY TOOK ME IN RIGHT AWAY. ERICA WAS GREAT AND THE HAND WAX TREATMENT WAS A PLEASANT BONUS AND THE HAIRCUT WAS GREAT. I LOVE IT AND AM GOING BACK AS A PREMANENT CLIENT. more

Best haircut I have had in a long time! 2/19/2011

I was referred to Salon Dacota by a friend and I scheduled an appoitment with Derrick. I really liked how he took the time to talk to you about the good and bad about your hair. He really listened to what I wanted. The awesome massage during the shampoo was a great plus. I love my haircut and have received lots of compliments. Derrick did a good job showing me how to style it several different ways. I will be returning. more

Fabulous Cut and Style 2/18/2011

Ok so I called and requested Erica (AWESOME) for a cut at 10:30 am, appt set for 1:30, called back to see if there was an earlier appt, she finished with a clietn early and could get me in . . .sweet. Great experience from start to finish 2/17/2011

I was recommended Salon Dacota by a complete stranger, read the reviews online then made an appointment. Because I have fine, thin hair and have had more than my share of disasters with different hair stylists, I was a little apprehensive about my first appointment, but there was no need to be. From the friendly smile at reception, right through having my hair shampooed, cut, colored and styled, I felt welcome and at ease. My stylist was Trish, and she gave me time to discuss the problems my particular hair gives me, talked through the different color and style options, then worked quickly and expertly until, by the time she had finished, I had one of the best haircuts I've had in my life. Trish explained how to style my own hair, explained the various products she used and made recommendations to keep my hair looking its best. Add to that the feeling of being pampered, with the complimentary paraffin wax dipping for the hands, a gentle scalp massage and a relaxed atmosphere, and I can only recommend Salon Dacota. Suffice to say that I will be back! more

Great haircut 2/16/2011

This was my first visit to the salon and I chose Derrick as my stylist because of his rave reviews online. I can see why they raved. He took time to ask me what I did for a living, how much time I could spend on my hair, and what kind of look I was going for. When he was cutting my hair, his techniques were some that I have never seen before, and I have been to very renowned salons before. I emphasized to him that I wanted volume, and by the end I had volume that I thought was impossible for me to have. He also took a ton of time to teach me how to style my hair, and to explain the products. This was by far the most experienced hair stylist I've ever seen, and the most educational experience. He even offered for me to call him with questions if I was confused about how to style my hair. Derrick is very impressive! more

Great Style 2/9/2011

I was able to get in to see a terrific stylist, Erica, the day after I called. I had been going to another salon for 12 years and was in need of a change. I explained my life style and my need for no frills, just something carefree and easy. Erica did exactly that! Love my new cut!! In addition, the staff was very warm and receptive. Will definitely go back. more

Love, Love, Love...... 2/8/2011

I have been to 3 (yes 3!) salons in the past two months and have been very unhappy. None of the stylists wouldn't or couldn't do what I asked. Then...I found Salon Dacota and Derrick. My prayers were answered. Derrick is absolutely wonderful and actually finished my sentences when I was telling him about my past experiences. I am very picky about my hair and I know what I want. I explained this to Derrick, and with his input, ended up with the hairstyle (cut and color) that I wanted. \r \r If you are like me and care about your hair, trust me and make an appointment right away with Derrick. He is AMAZING!! I also want to stress to you that everyone in the salon was beyond nice and made me feel very welcome. The salon itself is comfortable and inviting. I can't wait to go back!!! more

Great Cut and Color! 1/26/2011

I just moved here a couple of months ago and needed a good place to go to get my hair done. In the past I was always somewhat happy with my cut and color at other places. Im always nervous about my color. After reading the reviews on here I decided to try Derrick at Salon Dacota. He talked to me about what I wanted exactly and how he was going to fix my hair. He also showed me how I can do the same style he did at home. I was a 100 percent happy with the cut and color and I already booked another appointment. Its really refreshing to find a great hairdresser and hair salon!! :) more

Haircut, color, and style = Dead on! 1/24/2011

I was going to the same stylist for several months and never 100% happy. There was a specific style and cut I wanted. My hair looked OK, but was not how I wanted. One cut and color left me feeling as if I had wasted my money. I had to get this fixed. Frustrated, I began to look at other salons. I researched online and discovered Salon Dacota. Impressed with their website, I quickly gave them a phone call. I simply asked if the stylists there could accommodate the alternative/punk style I wanted and they could! I booked an appointment right away. I was a little nervous to try someone new, but the reviews on Salon Dacota did not disappoint! The salon had a great atmosphere and the entire staff was so pleasant! Derrick was a great listener. He took the time to work with me and he gave me the EXACT style and color I wanted! It was such a great feeling! Plus, they included a complimentary paraffin wax dipping for the hands with the purchase of a hair color! Awesome! I look forward to going back! more

Great Find!!! 1/22/2011

I am new to the area and had an appointment with another salon, but happened to walk into Salon Dacota and they were extremely friendly and accommodating. Valla gave me an amazing cut and color, was friendly and professional. I consider myself lucky to have found such a great salon so easily!!!! Already made a return appointment and am looking forward to what Valla will transform my hair into next time!!!! more

A relaxing and positive experience. 1/20/2011

I was looking for a salon and new stylist closer to home and found them at Salon Dacota with Trisha. I felt welcomed immediately when I walked in the door. Trisha talked with me about what I was looking for in my cut and took time when cutting and styling my hair. I really enjoyed the hot paraffin on my hands in this cold dry weather. That was a wonderful bonus! I plan to continue to have Trisha cut and style my hair. I enjoyed the conversation and was very happy with my cut and style. I recommend Salon Dacota to others. more

""A head above the rest"" 1/7/2011

I needed a change and have been trying out a few of the local area hair solons. I've found the one! Salon Dacota is comfortable, relaxing and I was made to feel at home. Derrick spent time talking to me about my hair related expectations and he didn't disappoint me. He explained the blow drying technique and the products that he used. He did a wonderful job! By the way, he gives the best shampoo massage! He also added a complementary hot paraffin treatment for my hands while he cut & styled my hair. I love my new haircut. My next appointment will be with Derrick at Salon Dacota! more

I'm new to town and needed to find a new hair salon. Erica was available for my last minute appointment before New Year's Eve. She listened to what I wanted and I felt like she truly understood my hair. I was very happy with the cut, color and facial waxing. She explained the products but didn't push them on me. I plan to visit this salon again! more

great place for hair 1/1/2011

I have not been satified with my hair for a while, so I decided to look for a good place online. I found Salon Dacota, which turned out to be a good decision. Erica not only listened to what I wanted, but also gave some good suggestions. At the end, she even gave me a brochure which listed the product she used for my hair. Definitely I will go back there! more

From bad hair day to wow in one visit! 12/23/2010

Read excellent reviews about Salon Dacota when I was looking around for a new salon online and they didn't disappoint! Made an appointment with Chrissy on a really bad hair day and she worked wonders with my cut and style. Best of all she really listened to the amount of time I want to put into working with my hair each morning and offered me some new products to help with the dryness. I walked out of there feeling gorgeous and with a 25% discount on my first visit I didn't feel guilty about splurging on the products as well. Can't wait to go back for color! more

Erica is a miracle worker 12/17/2010

This was my second time going to Salon Dacota. I originally found them on City Search while trying to find the best salon but still well priced salon in the West County area. I went in for the first time last spring with an odd request, I needed all of my dreads cut off while saving as much hair as I could. After reading many reviews I decided to work with Erica, so I scheduled my appointment online and left a note in the comment section explaining my situation. I got a phone call about half an hour later from the salon wanting to discuss the best way to cut off dreads. I had had my dreads for 2 1/2 years so they were sturdy and not really willing to come out easily. Erica ended up clearing her day for me and spent 4 1/2 hours cutting the dreads off, combing out as much as she could so we could keep some length, and conditioning my hair at least 20 times! She did a fantastic job! I was very nervous going into the hair cut that I would come out looking like a boy because no one would have the time or effort it would take to make it look good, but Erica and anyone else at salon dacota who was avaliable found a way to work with and give me a great girly hair cut. So of course when I came back from traveling abroad and my hair had lots of split ends I quickly and easily set up another appointment with Erica for a quick trim. Again she did a wonderful job and we had some good laughs about how this appointment was much easier than my last one. I'm so grateful for all of the patience and love Erica showed me both times I have gone to Salon Dacota! I have told everyone I know about how great their service was and I will continue to go to Erica with all of my hair needs. more
