OMG, what an awful company! I had warranty issues with AC ( nothing but trouble since the day the AC was installed, they were hired by my gen contractor not me ) and they showed up at the wrong time of day during the recent heatwave, and promptly left when no one was home. When I complained they offered to come out again the next day, but I requested they waive the service fee, since they had screwed up the times. They said no, and i reminded them that I would not be recommending them to anyone else. They said well, we don't want your business anyway, and hung up! But I have a warranty! They're supposed to do the work, period. Tried to file a complaint with the state online, but with our ""pro-business"" governor, in between 2500 dollar helicopter trips to his son's little league game, has actually made it more difficult to complain about corrupt businesses. Apparently the ""corruption fighter"" isn't interested in corporate crime. Stay away from this company. They are really bad. And the utility co. told me the whole AC system was installed wrong in any case. Sheesh. more

Incompetent and Dishonest 2/14/2011

We've had a very negative experience with Ryan plumbing. We were having a problem with our hot water heater, so we scheduled an appointment with Ryan. The plumber they sent seemed completely unable to diagnose the problem himself; he spent most of the time on the phone with the manufacturer of our hot water heater. Eventually he told us that we needed a new draft inducer, which was under warranty. He ordered the part from the manufacturer; apparently it was under warranty so it would be shipped overnight free of charge. We waited several days and it didn't show up. It then took several calls to Ryan to try and get a tracking number, which they were unable to provide. We eventually called the manufacturer of our hot water heater who said that the part was shipped but was eventually returned because it was ordered without an apartment number. So, the plumber ordered the part to the wrong address. We told the manufacturer the correct address and we eventually got the part; the plumber from Ryan came back and installed it at a cost of $200. We immediatley discovered that the original issue wasn't fixed at all; the same exact symptom was there (the hot water heater runs all the time). We called Ryan again, and they sent back the same plumber, who again was unable to diagnose the problem himself and sat on the phone with the manufacturer. He then came to the conclusion that we needed a new small gas valve, which is another part under warranty that will cost $236 to install. So, this is over two weeks into our dealing with Ryan, and our hot water heater is still not working, and they are now trying to get another $236 out of us, after we spent the first $200 for a problem that they did not fix. Keep in mind this is a two year old hot water heater in a brand new apartment. On the phone with Ryan, the person in the office just said, ""if that's what the plumber told you, then that's what is needed to fix your hot water heater. we can have him explain it to you if you prefer."" I said, ""No thanks."" It's redundant to say that we will not be doing business with, or recommending, Ryan plumbing under any circumstances. more

BAD! 2/14/2011

They charged for coming out which is OK.. Gave me a couple things that could fix the problem but weren't sure if they would actually work. Gave me high price quotes for everything but were not sure it would actually work.. The replacement of the unit quote was over 2x the reasonable amount from other companies. The guy according to the woman on the phone was one of there best guys. I would hate to see the worst guy. more

Bad experience & OVER PRICED 1/7/2011

BEWARE! Lets just say I would give Ryan Heating Cooling (Union, NJ) less than one star if it was possible. It took four trips, by 2 uneducated ""Plumbers,"" to finally fix my problem. Oh, they also destroyed my carpet and told me they are not responsible for the damage. They tried to convince me to sign up for a yearly contract with has limited warranty, um NO thank you!! more

They are not trustworthy 5/1/2010

They charge for the estimate when they came. The receptionist said that it was for free. When they gave us the list of the components that need to be changed for our A/ C system, we foolishly signed up for the annual contract to get reduced price. It turned out that other company came here and told us that those components Ryan's representative told us, do not need to be changed. We fixed our A/C system at the fraction of price with other company. I am not kind of person to write a review. However, when the annual contract was up for renewal, they gave us really HARD time to cancel. When I pointed out all the things they did wrong and told them that I was going to report to Better Business Bureau, they changed their attitude. They told me that it was just miscommunication. This is Not trustworthy company. I regretted that I even called this company. more
