Good, not spectacular 8/18/2007

Heard good about this restaurant and decided to check it out with my husband. It was nice in appearance, but not really romantic. Nothing was really bad at all. It was just average to us. The food was ok, but not really unique or different from the norm. Menu was typical tacos, enchiladas, and a bland salsa w/chips to start out with. Great Mexican food - you won't regret eating here! 7/7/2007

I first discovered Ruiz Mexican restaurant about 10 years ago just by accident. Now I can't go anywhere else for Mexican food because I know they are not going to measure up. My husband and I took a trip down old Route 66 through Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. I thought maybe their Mexican food would at least somewhat as good as Ruiz -- no way!! I'm too spoiled by the delicious Chimicangas at Ruiz. Plus their tasty cheese covered beans and fluffy Mexican rice with meat topping are to die for! Now I refuse to go anywhere else for Mexican! If you want a great Mexican meal at a great price and plenty to eat you won't be disappointed with Ruiz!! Pros: Convenient and great parking Cons: Can't think of any more

IN APRIL 1967 I WAS HOME ON LEAVE, MY GIRL FRIEND AND I HAD OUR FIRST DINNER AT RUIZ. WE MARRIED IN 1969 AFTER I RETURNED HOME FROM VIET NAM. WE LOOK FORWARD TO FRIDAY EVENINGS TO HAVE DINNER TOGETHER AND WE NOW HAVE BEEN ENJOYING THE WONDERFUL MEXICAN FOOD AT RUIZ RESTAURANT FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS! Best Authentic Mexican Food in North County - PERIOD! 7/3/2007

We just moved into St. Louis about two years ago and have enjoyed good Mexican food in other places we've lived. However, we had a hard time finding a good authentic Mexican restaurant here in North County. One night, while looking for a place to eat that would be economic with the kids, we saw that kids eat free on Tuesdays. We figured we'd give it a shot. That fateful night completely changed our dining outlook in St. Louis. Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere, Great Value! Cons: None at all! more

This is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Everyone should try Ruiz at least once. Then you won't be able to stay away. And everyone is soooo friendly. The food is fabulous and the servise is great. more

Best REAL Mexican !! 7/2/2007

Okay, this is my first time writing a review, but I just had to write one about Ruiz. It's the best REAL Mexican I have ever had. Me, my family and friends have been going there for so many years, I can't remember the first time I went. It is usually a weekly adventure for us. And there are so many new things all the time on the menu. It's hard to pick something out to eat because I have never had anything bad there.... and there are SO MANY GREAT CHOICES (not to mention the GREAT MARGARITAS!). They even have stuff for picky eaters or little kids. So, it makes for an enjoyable time and everyone is always happy when they come to Ruiz. If you have not tried it, I would HIGHLY suggest giving it a try. I love Mexican and have tried many places, but i always end up back at Ruiz !! more

The best Mexican food in town. Authentic, and delicious. 7/1/2007

Ruiz is by far the best mexican resteraunt I have found. The menu is packed with so many choices and varieties , that after visiting Ruiz for many years, I still havent tried all of them yet. All of the employees are friendly and make me feel at home each time I visit. And as a plus, they have many incentives and offers that keep myself, and my family coming back again and again. They also make the perfect marguerita! The chips and salsa are really great! I have never had a bad experience here. There are other places in town, but Ruiz is the only one I frequent. If you havent tried them yet, please do. I am picky about places to eat, but I believe that you wont be disappointed. Ruiz is a great place to eat! Pros: Great food and service Cons: Hard to find driveway entrance, needs lighting. more

RUIZ is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6/30/2007

Well here we we are trying to convince this town where to get the BEST Mixican food EVER! If you have not been there yet, you owe it to youself to give them a try. Once you experience it, you will go back. We have been regulars now for over 30 years. We have tried other Mexican places and no one comes close to RUIZ! We have our favorite servers in Rocio & Juan. They have MANY of their own personal regulars that visit there weekly also. Hector is another one of our favorites. He has come up through the years with the great training from Rachael & Rocio. We want to also thank Rachael for her wonderful personality, and taking GREAT care of us over the years. A personal thanks to Doug (Rachael's Dad) for ALL the wonderful food from the kitchen. We enjoyed a special meal on Fathers Day in part to Doug's expertise in cooking and coming up with new items. Thank You. Pros: All positve!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Best Mexican food by far 6/29/2007

We moved to Florissant in 1976. It took us about a month to find Ruiz's. Since that day we have enjoyed the food and the service has been supereb. We have witnessed the changing of the guard several times and each time it has gotten a little better, I hate to point out 1 or 2 favorite servers because over the last thirty plus years there have been a lot of them. The competition for Mecican dining has really increased the past 5 or 10 years but Ruiz always come out on top. Our son now lives in Kansas City and whenever he comes back to town the entire family seems to end up at Ruiz. We also have a grandson living in Brooklyn NY and Ruiz's is always on his adgenda whenever he comes to town. We are now talking 3 generations. Keep up the good work. Food Fantastic, Service Outstanding! 6/29/2007

Our family loves Ruiz! It is a wonderful place to bring the kids for a night of fun Mexican food that is served by one of the many great staff members who love to have fun and provide great service too. It is also a place my husband and I go for a romantic dinner for two in a booth. The margaritas are the best in St. Louis and the Salsa and chips provided at no charge are the best in town. We love to go to Ruiz with friends. We have never had a bad meal and the variety on the menu is great. Thanks to all the great servers and cooks who make Ruiz our favorite restaurant! Best Mexican Food and Margritas anywhere!! 6/28/2007

Ruiz is the best of the best! That is why they deserve the rating of #1 Mexican Restaurant! I love Mexican food and have tried all of the other Mexican restaurants in St. Louis and across the river in Illinois. No one compares to the authentic Mexican cuisine that Ruiz offers. There has not been one item on their menu that I have not cared for. Everything is very tasty. My personal favorite is the Beef Enchilada?s. My husband?s is the Enchilada Poblanas. We, (my husband and I) have been coming to Ruiz for 28 years now. We are an every Friday night customer. Sometimes we frequent them more than once a week. Everyone knows us by name and treats us like family. Denise is ?our? waitress and she always puts a smile on our face. Rachel (the manager) goes out of her way to insure that all patrons are treated well and goes out of her way to make sure that that happens. The Cadillac Margaritas are to die for. Thanks Kevin!! Best Mexican Taste, Value, and Service 6/27/2007

Take a bottomless bowl of crispy chips and home-made salsa, add a huge plate of tender tamales or crunchy beef-filled tacos, wash it down with a delicious salty-rimmed margarita, and you've got a Mexican meal fit for a king (or a family of 5, as we do!). The portions are large, the prices can't be beat (as in, we bring the whole family and still leave with money in our pockets), the servers are friendly (and know us by name now!) and the owners bend over backwards for the community and their customers, with coupons galore, fund-raisers and an overall welcoming atmosphere, not to mention the flowers that decorate the front patios are just beautiful! We're not only loyal customers, but we feel like family when we walk in the door. Florissant is lucky to have Ruiz! Pros: Taste, value, service more
