The food at Ruiz is wonderful and the service is very warm and friendly. I am always greeted with a smile and treated like family when I go to eat there. To me, this makes Ruiz stand out even more from the competition. They make you feel like they are happy that you are there. Then, on top of that the food is to die for! Best Mexican Food Ever! 11/20/2010

I never liked Mexican food until my mother insisted I try Ruiz. Now I am hooked. I tell everyone I know to try it. It is my favorite! Anytime I'm asked where I want to go for dinner I say RUIZ!!!! My mom's been going since she was a little girl, and I will keep the tradition going. Anything beef is amazing!! I prefer the cheesy beef burritos! more

THE BEST 11/6/2010

I am treated like one of the family at Ruiz. They know my name, my kids names and my grandkids names. We have so made so many fun memories there. Ruiz has been in Florissant since forever. Its nice to have a welcoming place to go to and enjoy the best mexican food, and I have tried many of the others. Try their beef enchiladas, or enchiladas poblan and you will believe me!!! more

Best Mexican Restaurant in ST.Louis 10/26/2010

Eating at Ruiz is like eating at you Mexican Grandmothers House. The best of the best.I grew up at Ruiz,all i can say is it seems to keep getting better and better with time.The more i try new items the more i find i love Mexican food, I give two thumbs up. The original margarita are to DIE FOR. I recomend all to try this restaurant, at least once, you'll be BACK...... Ant Mo.. more

Mexican food like you like it! 10/26/2010

We found you nearly 28 years ago. We so wanted good mexican food like we had in New Mexico. And - WE FOUND YOU. It was great! I am still coming and enjoying nachos, enchiladas, tostitos, etc., etc. Never get tired of it. And, I am so addicted to the Guacomala Ruiz. more

St. Louis best mexican resturant 10/26/2010

Ruiz is excellent in decor and food. The chile colorado dishs are incredible. I have been going since 1980. It has been a fixture in north st. louis county for years. My daughter loves the chicken tacos and my wife thinks they have the best Taco salad she has ever eaten. We eat there at least once a week more

I HAVE BEEN COMING TO RUIZ SINCE 1976. IT IS THE ONLY MEXICAN RESTAURANT I TRULY LOVE. UNFORTUNATELY, WE MOVED FROM BRIDGETON TO O'FALLON MO AND IT IS QUITE A DISTANCE TO COME TO. BUT, WHEN I WANT RUIZ, I HAVE TO STOP WHAT I'M DOING AND COME TO FLORISSANT. I DON'T CARE FOR THE LOCATION IN WRIGHT CITY. WHEN THE ST PETERS LOCATION ON JUNGERMAN ROAD OPENED, I STILL CAME TO FLORISSANT BECAUSE IT WAS SUPERIOR. I CAN STILL REMEMBER WHEN RACHEL WAS A LITTLE GIRL. MY FAVORITE WAITER IS JUAN. HE IS THE BEST!!!!! MY FAVORITES: BEEF ENCHILADAS AND STEAK TAMPIQUENA. THE ONLY THING I TRULY MISS IS THE SAMPLER (BEAN DIP, GUACOMOLE RUIZ AND CHEESE DIP). AT LEAST GET THE OLD CHEESE DIP BACK. So refreshing 12/20/2009

It is so refreshing to come back to a place over and over again for over 30 years and have the same great food every time! I think one of the most important qualities any business can have is consistency and this place has it in the bag. I have never had a bad meal here-only wonderful experiences that me and my family have enjoyed time and time again. Glad I tried it out! 1/28/2009

After moving to St. Louis from Arizona I was in desperate need of a good mexican restaurant. Since my move here I have tried many mexican restaurants in the area and after being disappointed so many times I am relieved to say that I have finally found what I am looking for. I went there last Friday after looking it up on this site, and even though it was very busy I received very good and friendly service, got my food quickly and it was delicious. I have to say that I have lived in New Mexico and Arizona and this food rivals any of the best mexican restaurants I have found in those areas. Thank you Citysearch! more

My all time favorite for Mexican food!! 1/27/2009

Ruiz is my favorite Mexican restaurant without a doubt. I love their margaritas (gotta try the cadillacs! they'll get you feelin good!) and the empanadas and the fajitas are my favorites. The service is always wonderful and we are always treated like family when we go there--Rocio and Juan are our favorite servers. We vacation in Mexico often and I always joke with my husband that I cannot wait to get back to Florissant and get some good mexican food! more

Go to Pueblo Nuevo instead 9/15/2008

Hoestly, this restaurent embodies all that is wrong with many mexican restaurants in missouri. It is the typical slop on a plate that most people have come to think is actual mexican food in this area. However, in this case, not only was the food bad, but the service was also slow, the restaurant was dirty and the food had no flavor. Too often, people go to an ""ethnic"" restaurant and beleive they are actually getting food representative from that particular country, but in most cases, these restaurants have adapted what they call ""mexican"" or ""chinese"", etc. to be what it is we americans want and it isn't anywhere close to being authentic. When I was a kid in school, our Spanish class field trip was to Ruiz'. Everytime I eat somewhere with someone who assures me he's turning me on to the best Mexican restaurant in town, I find myself thinking, ""It's not bad, but Ruiz' is much better!"" I LOVE Ruiz. I have been going to Ruiz all my life, my parents practically LIVE there! They have great service, food, and atmosphere. The wait staff are all people who know you and greet you like you are family. Pros: Service, Location, Food, ambience, New Remodeling Cons: NONE! more

Simply terrible. 1/16/2008

To be brief: The entire experience was a total disaster. Upon entering, the wait staff was standing around chatting about their lives, and no greeting. When we were finally seated the waiter was extremely terse for no apparent reason and forgot our menus. Our chili con queso never came before our entrees. Our entrees were stone cold in the center, and had to be sent back - something we rarely do. After requesting the queso again, it finally came after our entrees were finished, but it was stone cold and solid. We asked for it to be reheated, but it never reappeard again the entire meal except on the bill! The waiter (a veteran there) just was oblivious to all the problems and didn't care nor apologize. Very strange. We will NEVER eat there again. Pros: festive atmosphere Cons: horrible service, mediocre food more

Best Mexican Place 10/28/2007

My husband and I have been going to Ruiz for about 15 years now and we love it. The have the best chips and salsa. We also love the margaritas too. Not too sweet and not to sour. The service in the bar area is better than in the dining room. The servers are always so nice too. The parking lot is well lit and easy to park. We eat out a lot and this is one of our favorite places to eat. Pros: Parking, Food, Drinks, Service,good for a party of six or eight more
