This has been a tough year for our family and especially my parents (who live next door ) due to the passing of my Father's Brother , the passing of my Sister in June , and several health issues . What else could go wrong in 2010 ? At 3:30 pm on New Years Eve , my Brother came pounding on my door saying that the sewer line to my Parents house and he needed my wet vac to clean the floor and that he could not clear the obstruction , he went back to bail and I got on the phone . I called a service I had used some years ago in my house and was on hold for ten minutes when a woman got on the line and asked " Can you hold? " I replied yes and was left on the line for another twelve minutes . At that point I had had enough , I was going to call a plumber but at4:00pm on New Years Eve in the Boston Area ? I called Roto-Rooter and was speaking to a lady in thirty seconds ( amazing ! ) who asked the problem ,address , and arranged for a plumber to solve our problem between the hours of four t more

My husband John Theo from Peabody contacted Roto-Rooter. Our plumber from the Boston area was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly what needed to be done. The only thing that was shocking to me were that there were set prices for sinks, tubs, etc. and not an hourly rate. I believe the service was excellent, but I also believe the price was way too high for what was done and the time it took. I was impressed by the response time to the call and the time it took to complete. You have very professional plumbers. more

Roto-Rooter 12/16/2010

I had what seemed like a pretty complicated issue to me where some fixtures in my house would cause my toilet downstairs to flood, and some wouldn't. I tried taking care of the issue by myself but to no avail. I called roto-rooter to have someone come out the next day but they had someone out the same day, on time when they said they would. Service tech Ron came out and within no time he had the problem area figured out and his snake down the pipe. He was fast and very polite and personable. I would definitely suggest him, and Roto-Rooter to others. more

Needless to say, I was very frustrated after having paid a plumber to come three times to unblock the drain pipe from my washing machine with no lasting results. I thought my only option was to hire a backhoe to come in and I would have to hire someone else to replace the outdoor pipe to the tank thinking the line might have tree roots blocking the drain pipe that the plumber could not clear on those three separate occasions. In this economy, and working only part time for the last two years in a job paying a little better than minimum wage, I didn't know how I would pay for such an expensive repair. As a last effort, before going that route, I decided to give Roto-Rooter a try. Their name is well known in the Boston area so I figured they must know their stuff. They come to your house to evaluate the problem and let you know if they can fix it before charging you. And, if they can't fix the problem, there is no charge! Roto-Rooter Plumbers 12-03-2010 12/5/2010

I avoided calling Roto-Rooter because I like to support small businesses, but from now on, I will call Roto-Rooter's Boston office! On Dec 3, 2010, I had an embarrassing mess from an overflowed toilet. I got hold of one other plumber who couldn't be there for 3 hours. Roto-Rooter sent Damian within an hour. He was so good natured about the ugly job ahead. I felt like I could trust him. He asked me what other plumbing problems I had. Well, I had avoided a couple. He took care of everything. The charge was quite reasonable. What a relief! I feel like I'm not conveying enough about how grateful I am for having Damian come into a plumber's nightmare and just being so kind and helpful. Next time I need a plumber, I will definitely call this Roto-Rooter. more

First time home owner woes 12/5/2010

We are new home owners that ended up getting a series of unfortunate events after the purchase of our first home. Plumbing was one issue I was hoping wouldn't crop up but it did. Our basement bathroom shower stall started flooding with sewage and we new we were in for it if we didn't get help. We called Roto-Rooter and they came out within an hour to repair the problem. Damian was the plumber's name and he was very curtious, helpful and insightful during this time. Great Service!! 12/4/2010

My husband and I were away on vacation this past week and we had left my sister at home to take care of our puppies. One day before we were suppose to fly home she called and said that there was water in the basement and the drain was all backed up. I was in a panic! I called Roto Rooter and the woman who answered the phone was extremely helpful and assured me she would get a tech out to our house to fix the problem. Within one hour Rob came to our rescue. After multiple hours of snaking the drain he was able to clear up the problem. He even went as far to clean up the mess and vacuum the dirty water. (Above and Beyond the call of duty) Roto Rooter left me assured my sisster could stay in our house that night and take care of my puppies. I was more than satisfied with the service and although I hope I don't have any plumbing problems soon, I would definitely call Roto Rooter again in the future! Thank you more

No one wants a plugged toilet, and two plugged up commodes makes for a pretty awkward situation for the whole family, but roto-rooter did everything they promised. They came exactly on time, gave an estimate, and then fixed the problem in just a few minutes. The representative was happy to put on booties to walk on our white carpet. We received a 25% discount on the second toilet. They also offered all kinds of good advice to trying to avoid the situation--and we're going to follow it! Had a clogged kitchen sink and called for service on Sunday of the Thanksgiving weekend. They were great about even calling to keep us posted about their ETA and let us know that they were going to be running later than they had originally told us. Unclogging our sink took quite a bit longer than both he and we expected but everything got cleared up and was cleaned up in just over an hour. Great service and on a long holiday weekend too - more

Terrific job by Mike Nicoll 11/28/2010

Had a blocked pipe not allowing our bathroom sink to drain. First Roto-Rooter serviceman tried his best but couldnt unblock the pipe. He called for back up and Mike Nicoll arrived within 90 minutes. He worked diligently for around 4 hours. Still unable to unclog from within the bathroom he went up on the roof and was sucessful by plunging down the vent. Appreciate his willingness to see this job through and Roto Rooter not charging any additional fee despite what turned out to be an all day job. more

We had a blocked pipe and bathroom sink couldnt drain. Our first serviceman tried hard but couldnt unblock the pipe. He called for backup and Mike Nicoll arrived within 90 minutes. He plunged for a long time but still no luck. Unwilling to give up he went up on our roof and sucessfully cleared the pipe through a roof vent. He was pleasant and professional despite a frustratingly difficult job. Roto Rooter did not charge a dime above their original fee despite the fact that this turned out to be an all day job! We needed service the day after Thanksgiving because the main pipe for water leaving our multiple unit building was clogged and backing up into the basement. The technician came within a few hours of our call. He was very courteous and friendly. The problem ended up being a little more complicated than we thought it was and he spent two hours unclogging our pipes for us. He was very thorough and spent extra time ensuring the pipe with the major problem was completely unclogged. more

Quick & Convenient 11/15/2010

I had a clogged drain which was wreaking havoc on my apartment. I had tried everything from maximum strength draino to actually going out and purchasing a snake to do the work myself. No luck. I called Roto-Rooter on a Sunday night at 10pm to schedule a service for that night. About an hour later, I got a call back saying that their technician called out sick but they would offer me a 10% discount if they could come the next day. Fast forward to Monday night and I had an appointment window between 8pm and 10pm. Ron showed up on time and was friendly and knowledgeable. He fixed the drain in under 20 minutes and explained the whole process to me and how to avoid future clogs. Overall, the price was a bit expensive, but the service was great. I would definitely recommend them if you need service at an off hour like I did! more

Kevin showed up on a rainy Sunday night and quickly diagnosed the blocked sewer pipe in the cellar. He was able to clear the pipe in a rapid time and this removed the noxious odor and improved the drainage of the entire house.We are very grateful for his professional help and courteous manner. more

I emailed Roto-Rooter in Boston on Monday to request an appointment, which I think is a fantastic service in and of itself. Within 30 minutes I had confirmation of my appointment at my chosen date and time with instructions on what to expect from my plumber. This morning, exactly 30 minutes before my appointment time, I received a call confirming, exactly as they said they would. My plumber was here, completed the service on my extraordinarily clogged tub within 20 minutes of his arrival and was extremely professional! And that tub is no easy task!
