poor nail service 7/30/2011

went here for the first time for a walk in manicure last week. waaaayyyy over priced! it was $25 PLUS tip! (which was not accepted on credit card). The nail girl seemed to rush thru my appointment and the polish was put on really thick and uneven....maybe that's why it chipped BADLY the very next day. I get my nails done a few times a month, but i usually go to one of those korean nail places, and only pay $15, and my polish last at least a week! I think i would rather go to one of those places and pay way less, even if it means my nail lady doesnt speak any english and just talks to the other employees (probably about me) the entire time. they do a MUCH better job anywhere else. more

I hate to even give this so called business a star at all. I usually at any business am treated like they are glad to have my business, this company does not care about their customers at all! Nicole who is the owner cares less about her business or the clients who give their hard earned money for a little relaxing. Instead she does not follow through with getting back for appointments,and then when you finally get to talk to her she blames you for confirming, calls you a liar, says you are harrassing her, hangs up, and says you must talk to her husband,who is awfull,and swears at you. We had to call the police. With the economy where its at today any business should be so happy to have individuals coming in for a little R&R Not them!!!! COMPLETELY appalled 2/24/2011

My boyfriend got me a promotion package for christmas, for the Lake Zurich Ritual Salon. I was really excited so we set up all 4 appointments at once to be sure I was able to get in before the promotion package ended. ( in may) My skin care lady was amazing (jennifer) I also enjoyed my mini manicure as well as my hair cut from dana. Then...came my massage appointment...I called the day of to confirm my massage time(jan 14th) and they said that the lady is no longer there on fridays(which was the day of my apponitment)..only on Saturdays. So we reschudualed my apponitment for the week after only to get a call saying they screwed up. The lady wasnt going to be there that day. (Which amazes me because I was told there was only one Message therapist) So we rescheduled, and yet again I got another call saying I had to re schedule. At this point, I was very aggravated because I work on Saturdays and I could not keep taking off. I called and asked to talk to the owner and they told me that they would leave her a message because she wasn't in. So I told them I DIDNT want to make an appointment until I talked to the owner, Nicole. So after a week of never receiving a call I called yet again, to be told that I had to wait until she would call me. So after a month in a half of waiting I demanded to speak to SOMEONE because I had not been helped. FIANLLY after calling three times in one day I was able to speak to the owner. I began to tell my story of what had happened, and I was IMMEDIATELY cut off. She started off by telling me I was wrong. And assisted on telling me her side of the story first. Remaining calm, I listened to everything she had to say, which included scenarios of me harassing her ""employees"" and ""scaring"" them. After she had finished I explained to her that, that was COMPLETELY untrue, and that every conversation I had with the receptionist was that I was trying to find out weather or not they had talked to her or not. SO after a frustrating conversation of being hanged up on, and faultily accused, she came to the conclusion that we were ""not a good match"", and that I should be lucky that I got the service that I got for the price paid, and that she had the right to refuse me. All in all, I am COMPLETELY appalled by the way I was treated. Unsatisfied by the customer service. And shocked that a business can get away with swearing and treating customers the way I had been treated. If you care about being tossed around, and talked down too, I would not recommend this salon. more

I had to write a review after reading what aims 1234 put up here...She is clearly crazy because I have been going to the salon for years..I started going to Lake Zurich and then started going to Lincolnshire because it's closer to my house....I have to stand up for these girls because ever since i've started going there everyone has been so nice to me and stylists that don't even do my hair will come up to me and ask me how i'm doing...i've never received a bad hair experience I just think that last blogger was out to get the salon...trust me when you go in to any of their salons you'll see that blogger was out of her mind! more

the last two recent reviews are completely inaccurate. Sure, people are entitled to their own opinions but they must have caught the salon on a bad day! i've been going to ritual for a couple of years now and i have had nothing but great service. all the stylists (even receptionists) genuinely care about a client's needs. they make sure that all questions are answered and all expectations are met. the salon is very clean and comfortable. ritual also has a salon in lincolnshire. either one will make you happy. it sure has kept me coming back! more

Horrible management, no one has any idea what they are doing there!! salon needs major improvement and staff needs to look more professional. owners need to take classes on how to run a salon more

first of all, ladies BEWARE!!! I visited this salon for the first time on a whim because I am new to the area and I have driven past it a few times, so I thought that I would give it a shot. I tried to look it up online to check out their website for prices, etc but there was no luck there, their website doesnt work....bad sign #1. I called the salon in the mid afternoon, to make an appointment. Since it is an aveda salon (which are products that i cannot live without!) I expected to have to make my appointment for later in the week, because I assumed that all the hair stylists would be busy. But to my surprise, the girl who answered the phone pretty much told me that I could come in ANY time I wanted, and made it sound as if the staff was not busy at all....well that should have been my bad sign #2...if you're an Aveda salon, and you're not busy, then youre probably not a very good salon, but i decided to go anyway. when i walked in, it seemed as if the entire staff was sitting around in and around the reception desk, gossiping away. when i got to the front desk, half of the girls scattered away while the other half just stared at me making me feel awkward and uncomfortable. Even though I hadnt had a good experience up until there, I felt that I should give the hair dresser a chance to wow me with my new cut and color! DEFINITELY dont go here unless you have ALLLL day to spend here! I get my color done EVERY month, and it never takes any more then 30-40 minutes to put the dye on my head...it took this girl OVER an HOUR AND A HALF! and the chairs are NOT comfortable enough to sit in that long! After she finished putting the dye on my head, she told me that she would be back in 30 minutes to wash my dye out, and then she disappeared. there was no one else in the salon getting their hair dyed, or cut so i sat by MYSELF awkwardly in the salon, for not 30, but 50 minutes! i think she was busy gossiping or lounging or napping in the back and forgot about me! after she shampooed my hair (that actually felt nice)...she took me back to her station for my haircut. I had originally wanted a whole new 'do but after my experience on how long it took to color my hair, i figured that this was her first day in a salon so i asked her just to trim about an inch off the ends. it took her over an hour to cut my hair, which is very thin, so it shouldnt have taken that long... the overall cut and color was mediocre at best. It was nothing special and it didnt make me feel fabulous. (after further inspection of it days later, the right side of my hair is a little longer then the left, so it wasnt and even haircut!) when i went to check out at the front desk, i discovered that i was charged WAAAYY too much. When i got into the salon i had glanced at the prices menu that stated hilights prices started at $50...yet i was charged over $80!!! not even including the jacked up hair cut! did i mention i have VERY THIN hair? When i asked the receptionist if she was serious, she just gazed at me and told me that was the price that the stylist wrote down. i was taken off gaurd so i paid, and left. after i stewed about this for a few days, i called the salon, and asked to speak to the owner, and i was told that she was busy and they took my # for her to call me back. I called 2 more times after that, because she never returned my call. It has been a few weeks since then, and i am still waiting for a call back to find out why my price was so much higher then i was expecting(when i have like NO hair) and to let the owner know that my hair cut was not even....i am STILL waiting for a call back. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL NEVER GO HERE!!!! more

I have been to the Lincolnshire location twice now. Each time I had to make a last minute appointment to get my hair done. Each time they got me in with no problems and I happened to get two different girls and each one did an exceptional job. I would absolutely recommend this salon to anyone! BEST SPA EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!! 4/26/2010

I love Ritual so much that I cant wait to return again! I have visited both locations! Their customer service is outstanding and their hair and spa treatments are exceptional! I have had all services done from head to toe. My color and cuts are beautiful, my manicures and pedicures are relaxing and did I mention the FREE hand treatment they give me with every manicure??? My facials and massages have been something I treat myself to at least once a month. I also get a head massage with every shampoo and they always put blush and lip gloss on my face upon departure! (then i get to go shopping right after and hang with my friends). Ritual has really kept up with good old fashioned customer service! You cant find that much any more. They always treat me like royalty! I would recommend either location to everyone. It is a MUST EXPERIENCE! Pros: FRIENDLY, WARM, CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE Cons: I WANT TO GO EVERY DAY TO FEEL PAMPERED!!! more

BEST SALON & SPA EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! 4/22/2010

I went into the Lincolnshire location and was greeted with the warmest smile, offered coffee, tea or water. i was then taken into this beautiful nail room where i was given an awesome hand massage with a paraffin dip (for free i might add!) my stylist came to get me and brought me to her station. after a thorough hair consultation i was brought to a shampoo area where i was given the best scalp massage and shampoo. after my haircut was complete, i was walked up to the front and my stylist put some blush on my cheeks and gloss on my lips so i could go shopping afterwards. she asked me what products i would like to try and when i told her i was all stocked up, she gave me samples of what she would recommend. The front desk helped me schedule my next appointment and even gave me a card with a discount on a service that i had not tried yet. Everyone in the salon smiled at me and in my 45 minutes there i was asked if my tea could be warmed up! The Ritual staff is beyond accomodating and friendly. I cant wait to return. The customer service at Ritual is exceptional and i would recommend the salon to everyone. I love the Aveda product line too! Pros: friendly, warm, professional and clean environment Cons: i want to go there once a week to relax!!! more

Best salon!! 4/7/2010

I wanted to try a new place that used AVEDA products. I was very nervous but decided to give them a try. The Receptionists were very nice. They offered me coffee, tea or water when I walked in the door. They let me know my stylist was running a few minutes late. Instead of letting me sit there waiting, they gave me an AWSOME hand massage and a paraffin hand treatment. When my stylist was ready for me she gave me an in depth consultation and she made sure she understood what I wanted to do. I received a great scalp massage during my shampoo and left VERY satisfied. The best part....it was all for only $40.00!!! I have been back for many other services and received the same treatment every time. Best salon ever I would recommend it to EVERYONE!!!!!! I guess they don't realize that word of mouth is the best form of advertisement...I will never recommend this salon to anyone!!!!! Best Spa EVER!!!! 2/8/2009

I bought a spa package from someone who came into our offices I just finished my card. What a great experience. The services were awesome and the stylist are friendly and very attentive to the customers. I went in for my haircut visit and added highlights. Everyone has complimented me on my hair. I will continue to use their services and I highly reccommend this spa. I also had a facial there and learned alot about how to take care of my skin. my friend convinced me to go to this salon, and i absolutely loved it there. i felt so at home and the beautician really understood exactly what I wanted my hair to look like. i would definetly recommend this salon to anyone and everyone!!
