OMG I'm soooo happy!!! I am pleased to say that my experience in finding my 1st apartment with Rapid Realty was an awesome one! My Rapid agent made the whole process easier than I...

Worst

KEEP YOUR WORD!!! If you say that your going to give deposit to landlord in good faith, do it! Don't pocket the money....Apartment hunting process went well until that point and I...

Efficient, Efficient, Efficient! 2/22/2008

I just got an apartment (it's official! Keys in hand!) from Rapid Realty. What a whirlwind! This place was awesome, everything moved REALLY quickly - I saw a place, left a deposit, and moved in 2 days later. I hardly had time to pack up my stuff! There is pressure to leave a deposit and make your move on a place because that's the business - I have missed out on getting some pretty sweet apartments in the past because I wanted to mull it over before deciding on whether or not to put money down on it (and then they were rented out from under me). The quicker you can move on getting a place, the quicker these people will move FOR you. If you need to move, like, NOW, I recommend this place. Pros: Super quick! more

Excellent Service, Great with Landlords 2/21/2008

I say ""great with Landlords"" because I am one - however, I was on the other end about a year ago, when I rented a commercial space from Rapid (they've got a good variety of commercial spaces, FYI). As far as that process is concerned, it went smoothly (took a while, since commercial rental involves lawyers, and even more paperwork than apartment rentals), they found a space that suited my needs, and it was actually well below market value (of course, I didn't mention this when I signed my leases!).\r \r Because I'd had such a positive experience renting from these guys, I decided to let them rent out the vacant units in my building. They've filled two of my apartments, and all of my new tenants are great. They were really thorough in their screening, and got me all of the paperwork (actually, more than I'd even requested, which was great) within a couple days. They weren't pushy, and let me look over the tenant paperwork completely before giving them the ""okay"". I refer everyone to this company, from my own tenants to other Landlords. They are a youthful company, but I think that gives them a kind of advantage - they are driven, and have a lot more energy than other brokers I've attempted to work with in the past. more

Huge Inventory, Friendly Service 2/21/2008

I contacted Rapid after looking at their website, and I went to the office already having several places in mind that I wanted to check out. Well, one of those apartments (actually, my favorite) had been rented already, which was disappointing, but Neil showed me places that were even better - and one of them was actually under my budget. I was surprised at how many spaces they had that suited my needs, every experience I've had with brokers in the past have been pretty limited - they'd show me 2 apartments, and I was basically expected to chose the lesser of 2 evils. Pros: tons of apartments, great neighborhood knowlege, great price ranges Cons: one place I was interested in already rented more

Worked FAST (Rapidly, ha-ha) to find me an apartment 2/20/2008

Last week, my world almost stopped spinning when my neighbor - my direct neighbor - had a fire in his apartment. Nobody knew how it happened, but my apartment became basically unlivable pretty much overnight. All of my stuff was ruined, too, which is besides the point, but I will say this: People, GET RENTER'S INSURANCE. \r \r Anyway, after running into about a million of their ads on craigslist, I buckled down and decided to work with Rapid. I was trying to find a place without a broker, but it was just taking too long. I am happy to report that I got a new apartment in 2 days. I won't have to couch-surf anymore, due to the dilligence of this company. Marta called me probably 30 times the day after I put my application in, keeping me updated and telling me what I would need to do next. She was extremely helpful, and understood how dire my circumstances were. Thanks guys, for not letting me go homeless in February. I will definitely look to you guys next time I move (and hopefully I will be able to look at a more leisurely pace!). Pros: worked quickly, were very customer-service oriented Cons: had both broker fee and no fee places, but i liked the broker fee apt.s more! more

feel so bad 2/20/2008

My apartment right now is cool, but I was ready to find something different. I had called this girl Jeselle from craigslist, and she took me to see like 5-6 apartments. The reason I felt so bad is because she spent so much time with me and had other clients on the phone yelling at her for being late. She handled both them and myself very professionally and remained calm and patient with all of it. I found out later that she had set up the other client with another agent which found them a place after all the anxiety. I, however apologized for taking up her time without having intentions for finding a place but so see what would be better than my place now. We had such a great time though, I refer every friend and co-worker I know that is looking for a place and so far she has helped all of them. We still keep in touch to this day. I recommend anyone who needs an apartment to call Jeselle. If she is busy, she can hook you up with one of her coworkers at Rapid Realty. And they have sooooooo many apartments, how can you not find the right one? more

Everyone So Nice, Totally Satisfied 2/19/2008

On kind of a personal note (thanks to the anonymity of the internet) - I used this company because I was going through a terrible breakup and had to move out of my (shared) apartment. So, I was kind of a mess when I went out to see apartments with my broker. I was a little weepy, and probably difficult, and none of the apartments I saw looked like home to me. The man who showed me the apartments was unbelievably nice, and SO patient, and we eventually found a really, really great place. We even found a place that accepts pets, which is amazing, because I was having nightmares about having to give away my dog.\r \r The girls who I spoke to (who I guess were the ""processors"") were also extremely friendly, they spoke to me like a friend, and managed to keep the whole process painless. My paperwork was approved quickly, and I just got keys to my new place. Keep up the good work Rapid Realty! more

Friendly, Fast-Paced Service, Got a Great Apartment from Them 2/18/2008

It hate that there are negative reviews of Rapid Realty - I actually had a really great experience with these guys (I recommended them to friends also moving from Chicago, who had a positive experience with them, too)! We were very picky (ok, we were probably a pretty big pain in the butt - but we hate moving, and want to be in a place for as long as possible, so we don't have to move every year because we settled on an apartment we didn't really like), and looked at (no joke) eleven apartments before we found one we could see ourselves in. Our broker was very patient, though, and carted us around without complaint. The closing people in the office were also great, and basically approved us on the spot (the Landlord came in the next day and we signed leases). Pros: Friendly Staff, Good Inventory, Found a great apartment Cons: Looked at a lot of apts. before we found the perfect one (but that may have been my fault!) more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE 2/7/2008

My boyfriend and I were recently looking to move from the east village to park slope. We saw that Rapid Realty handled many ""No Fee"" apartments. The fact is they take some no fee apartments that are not very nice or in poor areas and show you those, when you dislike they place they show you others that have a fee but don't bother to mention that until after you are filling out paperwork and putting a deposit down on a place. However for us that part didn't even matter- we were willing to pay a fee- but even after we put a deposit down and got cashiers checks from the bank, we found out that they didn't even take the apartment off the market and it had been showed and rented by another broker!!! The entire process was mishandled and we lost a good apartment because of it. My advice is to either go with a real broker who is going to work to help you or go directly to the landlords yourself. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND PATIENCE WITH RAPID REALTY. Cons: unapologetic waste of my time more

Young Comfortable Environment, Huge Help Finding My First Apartment! 1/23/2008

When I was looking for my first apartment, I expected to see tons of places. I wasn?t going to settle for something sub-par. I spent a good month or so shopping around online before even seeing anything. Soon enough it was time to start making a decision. So after seeing rapid realty on craigslist, some further research ensued, where I found a number of bad reviews. The only thing that didn?t deter me was the volume of apartments available online. Pros: Lots of Agents & Apartments Cons: Hard to get in touch with the correct individuals more

Sunset Park was good for me pricing and transportation wise.\r Being only 20, my credit is barely established, but the building I chose required a guarantor anyway. Not that it was an issue, but could be for others.\r About a week later, I finally got approved, and settled in. I was kind of scared that they forgot about me, but everything was taken care of in the end!! Pros: Lots of Agents & Apartments Cons: Hard to get in touch with the correct individuals more

Never again!... 1/16/2008

I got my current apartment through them and initially was terribly excited about it as well as the whole rental agency experience. everything was going well.... until we signed the lease. Once I gave my deposit rapid stopped all contact with me. I had to keep calling to find out when my move in date was, i had to wait almost an hour on the phone to find out when i could get keys to my new place, the list goes on. finally i get a hold of someone who tells me that the place is ready to move into immediately. so i move all 2 trucks full of stuff only to find out that it wouldnt be ready until another 3 weeks. but at that point it was too late as my other place was being moved into as we spoke. so now i live in one of their properties paying too much and getting much much less than the other tenants who got all brand new everything while i look for a new place. They could care less about their customers. Actually, I wish i could get a job there. Who wouldnt want a job that pays well doing nothing? more
