Pet Lovers Beware!! 7/28/2009

This place presents itself as a premier emergency care facility, but really it is just a regular vet's office with longer office hours and under-trained and inexperienced vets servicing pets with health concerns beyond WGAH's expertise. They exterminated the love of my life's favorite pet by knee-jerking the wrong treatment and then not taking appropriate emergency action until it was too late except to have the poor dog suffer for another couple days. Then they compound the error by insisting that we pay for the pleasure of their killing of her best friend and advise that an autopsy is unnecessary and redundant to their findings. I have worked for a (ethical and professional) vet who said that not only would he have done a complete autopsy at no charge, but that he would have remitted all charges upon the killing of a healthy, happy two-year old beautiful dog. If you want to take your pet to a vet factory for regular checkups, WGAH may be fine, but if you want emergency care for a member of your family, go to Kirkwood Animal Hospital or any of the number of specialist vets who will keep emergency office hours. Please, for Lucy's sake! Pros: Long hours open Cons: Inefficient, marginally competent, uncaring more

Dr. Weltig is a genius when it comes to reptiles 7/15/2008

We took our lizards to see Dr. Weltig and both he and his assistant helped us so much! I haven't met a vet that knows as much as him! And the assistant handled our lizards with the ease of a pro! They spent a lot of time talking to us to get an idea of our set up at home. They suggested a few changes in their environment and the doctor suggested that I run tests on my lizard that my old vet never suggested. We couldn't be happier! For top quality reptile care, you gotta see Dr. Weltig! Pros: Dr. Weltig is a genius with exotics more

Our family vet 7/8/2008

We started taking our first lab here when she was a puppy. now our family has grown to three labs. We have two black, one chocolate. They go here every year for their annual exam and shots. They see one primary vet and have seen 2 others there when seh was out of town. We have liked all the vets we have seen. \r This vet seems to really care abotu our dogs and even convinced us to try something to help thier hips - and it did! We give our dogs cosequin every day and they get around so much better.\r We have always recommended this vet to our friends and family and now I recommend it to you! Pros: Caring, price, hours, more

OPEN ON THE FORTH OF JULY!! 7/4/2008

OPEN ON THE 4TH OF JULY!! Thanks guys, you were a life saver! I don't know what my family would have done without you. Today our beloved pug Otis threw up all over the kitchen. Our vet was closed and we went to Webster groves animal hospital. They saw us without an appointment and gave Otis some medicine and he is so much better now! We will switch all our four legged babies over to you. You won our trust! Pros: OPEN ON THE FORTH OF JULY!!!! Cons: no more

Great Vet 7/2/2008

We started taking our little LuLu to Webster Groves Animal Hospital 13 years ago. At that time she was a little puppy. They have seen her through her old age and we are so grateful for all the care you have given her! We will never forget that late night a few years ago when we had to rush her in for an emergency - you guys were there and helped her pull through! \r Now our family has grown to include two new kittens. They sure keep LuLu busy! We will bring our two new additions in to see you soon - we can't wait for them to meet their vet! Pros: Caring, Late hours, Good Prices Cons: none that i can think of more

Great vets, front desk not so good 6/20/2008

I have taken my cats here for thirty years, starting back when Dr. Love was in a little house made over into a vet's office. The care we have received when seeing the doctors has been top notch.\r \r The office staff leaves a lot to be desired. They don't pick up the phone until it has rung many times. Then you are placed on hold so long you think you've been forgotten. Once when I showed up and signed in for the apt., the receptionist came over and got someone else, but crossed off my name from the list. It was thirty minutes before I found out that they thought my cat and I had already been seen. \r \r Getting an appoinment with my preferred doctor takes a minimum of three weeks. It is very frustrating. Pros: Like the veterinarians Cons: Hate interacting with the office staff more

Top notch veterinary hospital!! 6/19/2008

My family and I started taking our puppy to Webster Groves Animal Hospital a few years ago based on numerous recommendations from family and friends. We have had nothing but a pleasant experience there!!\r \r To my family they offered a much better option than the emergency clinic in St. Louis. We had to take our cat in there 5 years ago and it was a horrible experience! Not only did our cat die but the bill was outrageous and the staff very uncaring. Not so at Webster Groves Animal Hospital! Their pries are very fair and the staff has always taken such good care of our babies!\r \r They have vaccination packages that we get every year - a basic one for our young Sparky dog and one that includes bloodwok for our older Sady dog. The vet always does a good exam and lets us know if there is anything wrong that we were unaware of. The vet also answers all of our questions (which we write out ahead of time so this can last awhile).\r \r Keep up the good work - my family always recommends you!!\r Pros: Caring, Hours, price more

Great Animal Hospital, Caring, long hours, great prices 6/15/2008

We have used Webster Groves Animal Hospital for the last 3 years. The staff has always been busy but friendly. We always see the same doctor, but that is because we ask for him. \r Last year our cat was hospitalized for 5 days. He was taken care of like king! Every day when we would visit the techs all knew our boy cat and would offer us words of comfort. He fully recovered and is doing great! \r I have compared their prices on shots and they are very reasonable. I won't go anywhere else and recommend them to all my friends. Pros: Caring, Hours, Prices Cons: phone wait more

Outstanding! We won't trust our pets to anyone else 6/9/2008

We have been loyal clients of Webster Groves Animal Hospital for the last 15 years and couldn't be happier! I don't know of any other vet that has someone in the building 24 hours a day. Last year when our Missy got sick, she had to spend 5 days in the hospital. The staff was so concerned and compassionate - my husband and I always felt like she was in good hands. At our last vet, our pets were left alone from 4 pm on saturday until the kennel crew showed up the next morning at 9 am. Not here! I wouldn't take my pet anywhere else because when they are sick I don't want them left alone!! I called and they gave me an update every day even though I had just been there the night before!\r The prices are also great. With the price of gas I considered going elsewehere for vaccines to see if I could save any money. Everyone else's prices were so much higher! Even though I have to pass up 4 veterinarians on my way to Webster we won't go anywhere else. They have earned our trust and we tell all our friends to go there. \r Kudos!! Pros: Compassion, great prices, great hours Cons: I sometimes have to wait on the phone more

I will never go here again 4/7/2008

Staff is not friendly. They make you wait when it is not necessary. They overcharge for eveything. I think that is enough. more

Worst Animal Hospital I've Ever Been To 11/13/2007

I took my dog to WGAH because they offered a package deal on tests and shots. I told them over the phone that my dog had been nauseated for a couple of days and was throwing up. When I arrived, I had to wait for 45 minutes because one of the receptionists crossed my name off the sign-in list and didn't call my name. When I was finally seen, the vet told me that my dog would have to wait two weeks to get his shots because he was nauseated and the shots might make him feel worse. No problem. But then when I went to pay, they billed me for all the tests separately, and I ended up paying more than the package deal cost. When I questioned them on this, they told me that I didn't get the package deal because my dog couldn't get his shots that day and that I would have to come back in two weeks and pay for his shots separately. This was totally insane logic. I said, ""So right now I'm paying MORE for FEWER services? Just because my dog couldn't get his shots today, I have to be billed separately and actually pay MORE for the services I received than if he were able to get his shots today?"" They said yes, and then told me I'd have to come back in two weeks and pay $50 or $60 extra to get my dog's shots. When I complained they handed me a complaint form and said it would take a week for someone to get back to me about it. This place has a totally evil corporate vibe, and I felt like my dog and I were in a factory: ""Get 'em in. Get 'em out."" Also, the receptionists are extremely rude and disorganized. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS ANIMAL HOSPITAL. I've read many horror stories about this place. I warn anyone who cares about their pet not to go here. Pros: vet and vet tech were friendly Cons: tactless, rude, and disorganized reception staff; misleading advertising; factory feel more

Awesome Pet Hospital 8/8/2007

My husband found a dog in a city warehouse. The dog was so severly malnourished and dehydrated that he could no longer stand up. I took him to WGAH and received the best of care. The dog weighed 37 pounds and now is 53 pounds. He was treated for heartworms and neutered at WGAH. All through his recovery I was kept informed as to why treatments were needed and I was told upfront of the associated costs. The veterinarians I saw each took time to explain bloodwork results, heartworms and basic obedience tips. The staff came to know my dog and the genuine care provided saved his life and gave me a healthy, loving and happy new companion. I simply will not go anywhere else. Pros: Hours, Veterinarians, Thorough Explanations of Treatments and Costs Cons: Busy Phone Lines, Stressed Receptionists more

Webster Groves Animal Hospital 3/28/2007

I don't want to totally discredit this institution, but this is the only animal hospital, where you bring a sick animal, and no professional takes a look at your pet. I watched our cat slowly lose her life, waiting for someone to treat her. I am appalled. The attending doctor, told us that our cat was in bad condition, but would have to have surgery, for the chance of survival. Get this, either that night, or in the morning. He would put an IV in place. I don't know that he ever did. She was dying a slow death, anyone could see. She was trying to stay strong, but alas no treatment , no chance. Yet, a pretty high bill was issued. I don't quite know what the charge was for, but, oh well. For a scheduled appointment, it may be fine, but I would not suggest to anyone, that they take their pet there for an emergency. As for me, scheduling an appointment? I'll never find out because I won't be going back there. more

Veterinary care good but 6/6/2006

I took my cat in as an emergency patient after hours, we actually go to another vet. The care we received while actually there was really pretty good but now we are on the third day of waiting for lab results, I have a cat here with possible liver failure and I cannot get anyone to inform me of the results or what to do next. Everytime I call I wait at least 7-10 minutes on hold before they even ask me my name and after 20 minutes on the phone..no results and despite 4 phone calls, still no call back. Pros: good veterinary care, great hours Cons: extensive phone waits, very impersonal, NO follow-up more
