I wouldn't recommend this medical office. Once the operator directs your call to the doctor's receptionist, you get an answering machine only. The receptionist almost never is available to answer your call. Worse, they don't always return calls either. I have been waiting for 2 weeks for them to return my call to make an appointment. I will not go there anymore. The office is also old and run-down. more

Don't get me wrong, my doctor is wonderful. The customer service girls are the rudest people I have ever had to deal with at a doctor';s office. I was put on hold because I had a question, the first women I spoke to was very nice & put me on hold to figure out the answer. Then another one gets on & asks me if I'm a patient & to leave a message for the doctor. I knew it wasn't a question for the doctor, but she refused to listen, I also told her she didn't have to get nasty, she then hung up on me! I cannot wait to speak to my doctor. more

Horrible service 2/14/2012

I tried for two days to get an appointment with this office. When you call you get a live operator who transfers you to an answering machine. So basically when they call back you MUST PICK UP THE PHONE or the process starts all over again. I work in a call center, so I usually can't answer if I'm on a call. This went on for two days. There was a doctor there that I was really interested in seeing. They lost out because of their idiotic system. P.S. I guess it's better off that way, because what if I had an emergency? more

I have gone there for years! 1/3/2012

This is a large office and very well run. I have an excellent Doctor and luckily for me I am in pretty good health so I primarily come in for annual physicals which can be scheduled conveniently. I did have to figure out a way to work with this office for the few times when I was sick and needed an appointment quickly. It is very hard to schedule an immediate appointment with my doctor and sometimes I can not wait a week to see her when I'm sick. At first I was given appointments with nurse practitioners which were a total train wreck. I wound up with walking pneumonia thanks to one of them. Then I found a way to work with this group and it has worked for me: I schedule an appointment with the first available doctor ( not nurse practitioner!!!!!) My records are there after all. There are even emergency appts available for Saturdays. It IS very hard to get through to a human which is annoying beyond belief, but my Drs. assistant does get back to me. This is a very busy practice, you really only want to talk with your Doctor's assistant, not with someone on the other side of the building. Honest. more

Great doctor 10/23/2011

I am very pleased with my doctor at this facility. She is very thorough, and never rushes you out of the office. At my last visit, the staff could not have been nicer. I do agree that it is very frustrating calling the office, and not being able to speak to a live person. I am willing to deal with it because of the excellent care I receive. And yes...the staff is entitled to take a lunch break...I am sure that most days are hectic and that they work very hard... more

No different from anywhere else 5/6/2011

I've been going here for several years because it's convenient to where I live, and I really like my doctor, Karen Hart. She's the best doctor I've ever had. Separately, however, is the facility itself. Modern and clean. The staff can get a little testy, which I suspect is due to the volume of work. My only real gripe about the place is the difficulty in communicating by phone. Lots of voicemails back and forth, and that really annoying answering service they use at lunchtimes. If you think you can get a better doctors office elsewhere, good luck. more

Terrible customer service! 4/6/2011

I have been trying to book an appointment for a yearly medical for over a month now. Every time I call I get put through to an answering machine and they ring me back and leave me a message and so it goes on...So I go to the office in person and I am told to make the booking by phone...unbelievable! Also do not expect routine hours they work to their own specifications. They close for lunch! Have you ever heard of that at a doctors surgery? You cannot be ill it is lunch!!!Also please tell me why my husband has no problem with these staff...couldn't be that the female staff discriminate against women could it?? Also I am a medical professional myself so I recognize symptoms and know what I need appts for. So I do take offense when staff there treat me like I know zilch. These staff are driving patients away...but perhaps that it what they want so they have an easy life! more

I've been going here for 10 years now and have received great care. Each appointment I've had has been professional and the doctors and staff are very knowledgeable and thorough. Phone calls have been timely both in answering questions and forwarding test results. more

Prospect Medical Proceed With Caution 1/25/2011

Off and on, I have dealt with this office for 43 years. Throughout the many changes over time, office staff rudeness has been a consistent issue. About 18 months ago I noticed a dramatic improvement, as if there had been a charm school inservice. I go to Prospect now because of 1 very good MD but must add that when he was originally suggested to me I said no because I would not deal with this practice.We have successfully worked things out and he has been of invaluable help. All has not gone well with other MDs there. Recently when I objected to the way my GP (now former GP) handled something, she told me to pursue it with a psychiatrist. What an easy world she lives in! Disagree with me? You must need a shrink. She's very young and may learn at some time that abuse of power does not always work. I worked as a patient advocate in Boston for years and always keep in mind something a supervisor once said.""Beware of MDs who practice with their egos.' Remember that when you deal with this place. more

I really like Prospect Medical 1/22/2011

i've been going to Prospect Medical for about 6 years and I can't believe the critical reviewers i've bee reading go to the same place.\r \r I have found everyone from doctors, to nurses and technicians, to admin staff to be professional, responsive, courteous and deepndable.\r \r If I call in and get a voice machine, it tells me exactly what to expect in terms of a response, and they always deliver.\r \r My wife and I are very happy with Prospect Medical. more

They Never Answer The Phone 1/5/2011

I have been going to Prospect Medical for 10 years and it's always the same. You call to make an appointment and you get an answering machine. I leave a message and it takes at least 48 hours for them to call you back. You never know when they will call. If you miss the call, the process starts over again. When you do go there, you feel like you are being pushed thru like a car wash. By the way, when you are there, the nurses are always too busy socializing and don't pick up the phone. more

Worst Office Staff I Have Ever Encountered 11/12/2010

I called today to reschedule an appointment. I was told the doctor wasn't in today and that I needed to call back on Monday. I explained that my appointment was for Monday afternoon so without a word I was put on hold. Eventually I got to a person who cancelled the appointment but told me to call back Monday to reschedule. When you do call back, you have to wait for them to return the call so be sure not to call when you need to go out,. This phone call took me 11 minutes which is way more than it should take to cancel an appointment. I have never had a pleasant experience with any of this staff so this was not unexpected. The are rude, unhelpful and rude. If I didn't love the doctor I see there, I would never return. I worked for doctors for 10 years and know you don't have to do business this way. I asked the last person if she ever read the comments on the internet and she said no. more

I agree with all the problems at this office 11/16/2009

Called at 11:30am on a Tuesday to make an appointment. Office hours are 8:45am-5:00pm on this day....I never received a return call. Oh, and when I attempted to contact my doctor's medical administrator yesterday at 4:55pm, the phones were already turned over to the answering service. I will make certain to tell my doctor of this. Better yet, I will alert him to this message board.? Pros: solid doctors Cons: terrible staff and return call system more

rudest staff ever! (seriously) 11/12/2009

I agree with all the reviewers, this office has the rudest staff ever. The contradiction here is that generally you are at the doctor because you don't feel well, but to have to deal with rude, dismissive, uneducated morons is beyond compare. I like my doctor and have not left yet since she does continue to participate in my medical plan, however, when I go to see her for my annual physical I also make sure to mention how badly I am treated by the office and lab staff there. She is always a little surprised but can't imagine I am the first person she hears this from. Maybe next year I will try to find a new doctor. Thank goodness I haven't had a serious illness where I would have to deal with these folks! I would not recommend this practice to anyone looking for a new doctor. Staff Drove Me Away 1/20/2009

I have nothing but the utmost praise and respect for the doctors that I saw at Prospect Medical. The staff, however, made my stomach turn! I was continually disrespected. I have never been treated so rudely by any doctor's office! The doctors are great, but I was repeatedly disrespected by several members of the staff, from the receptionists to the nurses in the lab. This utter disrespect has driven me away from this group. I am in the process of finding a new doctor, and you can count on the fact that staff courtesy will be a determining factor in which doctor I choose! Either the staff is overworked and underpaid, or it never learned any manners. Whatever the case, patients deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and concern! Moreover, it should never take over a week for basic lab work, nor should it take a week for x-ray results. Pros: Great Doctors Cons: RUDE staff, awful parking, inconvenient hours more

DR. RAKOWSKI saved my life :))) 8/28/2008

I can't begin to express the gratitude and respect I have for Dr. Thomas Rakowski and staff. I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2000 and I underwent 6 months of chemotherapy under the care of Dr. Rakowski, this man saved my life. He is so caring, so sincere ~ He is so incredible! **HE IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST DR.S ** The care I received cannot be compared and I am still a patient and continue to receive the best possible care from everyone at Prospect Medical. I agree that this staff is rude and disrespectful. I see that I am not alone and would love to hear from others who have had similar encounters. They make one feel like they are doing you a favor by speaking with you, and their telephone system (or lack thereof) is the worst I've ever encountered.
