if you crave pizza... this is the place togo.... been going here over 20 years...... there is no better pizza!!!! I can agree with the service... but.. I mostly judge places on the taste of the food... wish they delivered...... but its worth the short drive from arcadia..... Yes there is a little bit of wait but not always. and the pizza is soo good its worth the wait . Love the big portions in the pasta menu and the bread is deliciuos. But you have no patience like some of the other reviewers just pick up instead of dine in . trust me its worth the drive from where ever you are. This place is great. The food never lets me down. The hostesses are a bit snooty, but the waitresses are always friendly and personable. Of course its not always perfect service, but it seems like a family run joint where they really care about serving good food. You might have to wait a little bit on the weekends, but it is worth it. My family has been going to Petrillos for over 40 years; and for the first time in our lives we had a horrendous experience. In that time, we never had a complaint. I had a banquet for 34 people, and because I didn't have all 34 people there (had 28, though that should be irrelevant), they didn't want to start serving. The server, came back with a note stating our approximation of 35 pushing it up close to my mothers face and referencing, to which my mother responded by dismissing the note, insisting she serve the people already there. Their logic, people arriving late would be upset that the rest of our group was already eating. We had 6 people who were going to arrive late, and according to the manager making everyone wait 45 minutes till they arrived made sense (Imagine if somebody took that attitude with a wedding recep)? Further, service dragged, having to ask 3 times for bread, not taking an additional order of pizza (because it fell outside of the menu items we had preselected), salads came 15 minutes after asking for them, 15 more for the chicken alfredos', 15s more for the sphagettis' (so much for not serving people at different times). My complaints were met by the manager with indifference, saying that we wouldn't have been happy with anything, that the customer is not always right, calculating the tip incorrectly, and when I asked him if he felt that the included tip was appropriate considering the service, he said it was up to me. Over 40 years of my familiy's patronage, no complaints was met with accusations that (now) I wouldn't have been happy with anything. The managers brother I believe (who was more understanding and concerned) and the manager then engaged in yelling match because he seem to try to interject on our side. I think this is the son, because I remember most of my life an elderly kind people. I have been going to this restaurant since mid 70's . I love it there . After I've gotten my favorite spot . They (the fat cows) don't bother me... I sit with my friends or family and , I'm at home . They (the fat cows) leave me to enjoy my meal and time with my family or friends . If you want to eat fast and then enjoy being pressured to get out fast to make room for the next ""CONSUMER"" Don't go there . Otherwise go , eat , SOCIALIZE , try something old fashioned . If you don't like it.......I don't care. I do and they've been around since I was born , that is ""COMFORTING"" kind of like good food. We saw the good reviews so my wife and I went to give it a try. We ordered several things off the menu from appetizers to pasta to pizza (yes there were a lot of left overs). I would rate the appetizers and pasta a 5 or 6 out of 10. Good but nothing to rave over. However, the Pizza was very good. Good cheese with great sausage and pepperoni. AT PETRILLO'S YOU GET ONLY THE BEST! THE PIZZA IS TO DIE FOR, THEY USE ONLY THE FRESHEST INGREDIENTS AND THEY PILE THEM ON. THE PEPPERONI IS THE MARGARITA PEPPERONI WHICH IS THE VERY BEST AVAILABLE. I have been going to Petrillo's in San Gabriel since 1991 and have always been a raving fan. Within the last 6 months I gone to Petrillo's about 4 times and everytime it has been an unfavorable experience. The hostess' are very rude and unaccommodating. The service staff seem to be overwhelmed and overworked. On my last visit, my party of 4 had to wait 20 minutes to be seated when there were 4 tables visibly unoccupied. When I asked the hostess who was flipping through a gossip magazine why we could sit at one of the open tables she said in a very cold, unapologetic manner ""because the servers are too busy to attend to you"". In light of all of this the pizza is great, the best pizza around. I do hope that Petrillo's gets enough complaints that they will turn this all around and they can be my favorate pizza eatery again. best pizza in san gabriel valley but the service leaves alot of room for improvement all waitresses are a bunch of lazy fat cows and both times 4/27 and 5/20/07 the watresses different but still lazy cows made me and my date wait ten minnutes after bringing bread, to get water this was only after I asked twice the same goes for the coke, even after that (wich is not bad) while I wated for my meal four beefy cows sat in the last booth eating food from sabbaro and gossiping. I dunno whats worse the fact they were eating food from another eatery or when one came out of the bathroom i never heard water run, but i heard the toilet flush and could hear the faucet when other patrons used the facility over all the experience wasn't horible but it was bad and the prices were way too high for me to remind anyone to give me water or watch my server feed herself Pros: pizza Cons: stupid fat cow servers more

I have been going to Petrillo's since 1966...their sausage, green bell pepper, and onion pizza is the best. As far as I am concerned, there is no other pizza. Thankfully, there is one closer to my house in Glendora. I wish they would open another store in my hometown. more

I've been going to this restuarant for years and I love it. Now and days it's so hard to find a dining experience where they make you feel like you are part of the family. This is a classic, old school family run business with out all the corporate red tape. They use top of line products, made from scratch when you order, and their main concern is not how much money they're making but what kind of product they're putting on you're table. About the services ...... well I personaly never had a bad experience at Petrillo's but I also never go to this restaurant expecting to be served and fed in 10 min. This place is always really busy and the food is made to order, people can't expect the food or service to happen in an instance. I've actually heard people complaining about waiting tweenty minutes for a pizza (let's be realistic, it's made from scratch!!!). This is a place where you can walk in, enjoy great company, some wine and a wonderfull italian meal. I love the food, the service and everything about this place. I have been to this restaurant many times both for dine in and take out. I have to agree that the food is very well prepared and it is worth the try BUT the service is terrible. The ""girls"" got the most sour face you ever want to see when you walk inside both the restaurant and at the take out; they just look like they're better off at a party. I only recall one server (blond hair lady) was friendly. One occasion when all of the food came to our table, but no silverwares; instead they were given to a party table that were still waiting for their food AND we were told that silverwares were still in the wash!! Many times when asked for seconds on bread, we were told that there weren't anymore, but our foods are coming. You can clearly see other tables were serving bread (if they just say it's only one per table, and I would be happy!!). We have not gone back for a while. I recalled they have a sign up to give rating to their restaurant and I just have to rate this place. Enjoy your food, just ignore ALL the services!! more
