Petrillo's Pizza Restaurant

I haven't been to Petrillo's in ages, which is ironic because I live so close to it, but from what I remember as a child, they have pretty good pizza. Their pizza is "real" pizza; that is, it's not the commercial, mass-produced stuff you can get at Pizza Hut or Domino's. The ingredients are fresh and taste real good. The cool thing about their pizza is that it is cut up in squares, not slices. We hung out at Petrillo's a lot after our high school sports events and it's always a fun place to be. Valley Blvd. and the city of San Gabriel just wouldn't be the same if Petrillo's wasn't around. more

In a city engulfed with Chinese restaurants everywhere and only pizza huts and papa johns as the closest thing to Italian, Petrillo's definitely has the best Italian cuisine, particularly the pizza. They offer antipasta, pasta dishes like lasagna, but what they're known for is the pizza. The pizzas are baked fresh which is why it might take a while. I am a traditionalist and had a medium sausage and mushroom pizza. It was not your typical medium pizza. This thing is huge and it couldn't even be finished among four people. The cool part is the way the cut the pizza. It's not in slices - it's in squares. more

dang... what have i been missing out? i've never knew this back allyed italian resturant was so close to this overcrowd asian community.. i personally had some of the best pizza i have ever ate over at Petrillos. Wow i must go back for another fresh pizzas... its making my mouth water right now thinking about it.. just wow.. 5 stars more

Petrillo's is an icon in San Gabriel. This was the first pizzaria that I remember as a child. We must have ordered take out pizza here hundreds of times over the last 30 years. I'm sad to say the quality varies and I have after 30 years lessened my visits. I am unsure if it's because they are so busy that they occasionally burn your pizza or if it's that they think they are so great they don't care anymore. Whatever the case I would call their pizza disappointing at times to say the least. They do of course offer other Italian dishes and they do have dine in as well as take out. My preference has always been take out so that is what I'm speaking about here. I would say 7 times out of 10 it'll be the yummiest pizza you've ever tried. more
