I've been seeing the OrthoRehab team on&off for 12 years for my sports injuries. They are very methodical in their approach and relentless in helping me get over the 'hump' in my rehab and recovery. I was first referred to Terry B. by a leading twin cities orthopaedic surgeon over his own in-house PTs. That's how much respect this group has from the local medical community. I was referred to Mike Dixey by my sister in law, a pt herself. Mike began my first appointment by asking me what I thought was wrong. He listened to me and asked questions before leaping into a diagnosis. I had seen three other PT'sin the past two years for a left over injury from years of soccer playing. Mike was the first to listen and identify what was wrong. He told me that it would get better and gave me confidence in his ability to help me get there. He and Amber work great together and the office is helpful and friendly. They clearly care about what they do and are excellent at it.\r They have extensive knowledge of the research in the field and the methods/exercises they are prescribing. \r Since first working with the Ortho Rehab Team, I went though a pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding. The team helped me navigate all those changes and how they impacted my injury. It is a great place to go to and the kindness and competence have gotten me back to a place of healthful exercise and pain free living! I went here for issues with my neck/TMJ/back. I see Carol Lego. She is amazing and has focused on nerve therapy. Since going there my problems have nearly disappeared. The therapy is a bit unorthodox (not typical in that I do exercises, etc.) as she relaxes over sensitive nerves through pressure points. Still it is 90 min of very relaxing therapy. My insurance covers the therapy, so I pay about $20 per visit. I couldn't be happier with it. more

Mike Dixey, at the Eden Prairie location, is the absolute BEST! Mike is joined by a friendly and highly competent staff; Amber, his PT assistant and Patti, his office manager. When I first came to Mike I was recovering from hip surgery. Prior to surgery I had been bedridden and had not left my home for 3 months. I was on crutches, had constant tingling in my legs and in severe pain. I thought my situation was hopeless. Over the next 2 1/2 months Mike worked patiently and diligently with me, bringing me through a series of exercises to rebuild strength and endurance. At the conclusion of that time period my crutches were gone (after 2 weeks!), my mobility restored and my pain minimal. Due to the extent of my injuries I still continue to see Mike off and on. Under his expert guidance I am confident I will experience full recovery. Mike is the ultimate professional. He is knowledgeable, compassionate, thorough and a joy to work with. He listens to his patients and genuinely cares about their needs and outcomes. I highly recommend Mike and his staff at Ortho Rehab. After all, he gave me back my life. How much better does it get than that? more

I've gone to OrthoRehab Specialists a couple of times for baseball related injuries to my shoulder. Mike and his staff have been incredibly helpful in giving out rehab routines that got me back to where I needed to be without setbacks. I play at the Division 1 level so while going through high school baseball, I needed to be healthy to play so that recruiting opportunities wouldn't pass by while I was sitting on the bench. Not only did his rehab get me healthy, but it set me up with a plan to continue forward to prevent injuries in the future. I went to OrthoRehab Specialists for the first time at the age of 13, went back at age 16, and if I ever had anything else, I'd go there again in a heartbeat. more

After persistent pain in my right shoulder began affecting my actual range of motion, I went to my clinic where I was referred for physical therapy to Institute for Athletic Medicine. After 4-6 weeks of treatment there, my situation had noticeable worsened. Rather than allow the therapist to begin a different approach, I went to a physician at TRIA who hinted that arthroscopic surgery might be in my future. He also suggested that - if I ""had the time"" - he'd prefer trying another avenue of physical therapy first. (I ""preferred"" that, too, never having had ANY prior surgeries!) He specifically and strongly recommended Mike Dixey at Ortho Rehab, saying, ""This is the perfect guy to work on your shoulder. My patients have had tremendous results with him - and he hopefully might enable you to avoid that surgery."" So I began seeing Mike at Ortho's Eden Prairie office. The difference was like night and day! It's a smaller facility with fewer locations and practitioners than was my prior physical therapy experience - yet I was able to get in for appointments right away and pretty much at my convenience. Patti, their receptionist, was great. Whenever I called, I'd always book thru her, and she always promptly and professionally accommodated my schedule and needs - a real pleasure to deal with - no ""jumping thru hoops."" Mike himself was awesome! He never simply gave me instructions to do a certain exercise and left me unattended (as had been my experience before.) Instead, he provided me with thorough information about my problem along with comprehensive details on what his treatment would consist of and why. His hands-on treatments were thorough yet gentle - and most of all, effective! He was always careful to inquire about my comfort as he'd work on me so as not to cause any further pain. At every appointment, I always saw him - and often Amber Banwart in addition - equally knowledgeable, professional, and helpful, and totally up-to-speed re: my case. During each appointment, I was constantly monitored (which I had not experienced before), and measurements of my improvement were taken regularly. I was also provided with explicit instructions for home exercises to complement the care I received at their office. I have no doubt that Mike saved me from surgery, and I've sung his praises to many of my friends. There is a consistency of the best in patient care in their office - as well as in the manner with which that care is provided. It always felt to me like Mike, Amber, and even Patti sincerely cared about me, the condition that brought me to them, and my progress. Theirs is a kind and very personal practice - almost like family. I never got that feeling elsewhere! Today, thanks to Mike's excellent care and direction, I am TOTALLY pain-free and with my total range of motion restored. It's as if I'd never experienced any problem at all! And now I have the added assurance that - should I ever require further physical therapy for any other reason - I know where the best care is available and would head straight back there in a heartbeat. These folks really are the best! more

I used to be very skeptical about going to physical therapy. Things weren't explained to me in a way I could understand. The exercise sheets that I was to follow at home didn't match up with what I had been shown during my appointment. This made me start with an attitude that it probably wasn't going to help. Bottom line...it seemed sort of useless and I never felt satisfied. Finding Mike Dixie and his staff at Ortho Rehab made all that change. I went for neck pain and then again to regain my arm use after rotator cuff surgery. Each time, Mike told me in layman's terms what was causing the pain and had a very organized plan of treatment. Got a question? Hel'll answer it. Need a follow-up or paperwork? He'll do it. Starting at square one with confidence really motivated me to have the right frame of mind to start helping myself. more

I started going to Ortho Rehab and Mike Dixey specifically 5 years ago for a shoulder subluxation injury. Through his rehab and workouts I made it through 4 years of collegiate football on the shoulder. His advice was always very clear to understand, and the strength and stability in my shoulder speaks for itself. Also consulted him on a different injury in the opposite shoulder, and without his help and advice I would still be searching to diagnose and treat my extremely rare injury. This is hands down the smartest group I have worked with (and I have worked with a lot of physical therapists both within the Minneapolis area and outside). Any athlete or parent of an athlete should have these guys at the top of their list. more

The was referred to Mike Dixey when I was a Junior in high school. I initially went to him for his total baseball workouts that he was giving during the winter months to prepare ball players for there upcoming season. He is very knowledgable about baseball in the form of how the body works but also in the rules and up to date information in pro baseball. In the summer of my Junior year in High school i returned to Mike Dixey to start rehab on my shoulder. I had over use of the rotator cuff. Mike was very patient with me and got me on shoulder exercises that i still use today. He also put me on a throwing program that got me back on the mound in roughly 4 months. I can guarantee that i have never been around someone who is this knowledgable about the body and what caused my injury. I saw Mike again in the summer before my Junior year of college because i thought i had torn my UCL. Again Mike did an incredible job locating the problem and getting me the help and plan i needed so i can pitch again. I am currently a redshirt Junior at St. Cloud State, i give a lot of thanks to Mike and Ortho Rehab in EP for keeping me healthy and allowing me to continue to play college baseball. more

I started suffering from extreme shoulder pain in June of 2011. I thought with rest, the issue would subside. Three months later, I finally saw a doctor at Tria who diagnosed me with an impingement and suggested I see Mike Dixey. She described him this way: ""Mike is good with shoulders."" As it turned out, that was an understatement. In my first appointment with Mike, he actually promised that I would get better. That's not something you get with most healthcare professionals these days. Mike's assuredness, however, comes from the fact that he is incredibly knowledgeable in his field of study. He knew exactly what exercises and stretches were necessary to 'cure' my impingement. Both he and Amber were patient in their instructions, making sure I was doing the prescribed stretches and exercises correctly. They were also incredibly supportive when things became difficult. Physical therapy can be a long and sometimes painful process, but with Mike's encouragement, I knew all the work was going to be worth it. His and Amber's commitment to me and my recovery made me commit to my recovery myself. Mike released me from PT a few days ago. My pain has diminished considerably and my mobility is near normal. I still have 4 more months of home care, but during this time Mike has assured me that I can call with any questions or concerns, so I'm not entirely on my own. Ultimately, there aren't enough stars to sum up my rating for OrthoRehab. Mike, Amber--and Patti too--are simply the best! more

It doesn't get any better than this for Physical Therapy. I am a senior male who is very active, two rotator cuff surgeries. Very high skill level, nice style, good amenities, excellent staff. Skill: Mike Dixey knows his stuff--keeps up with professional articles, and gets/reads/refers to your physician notes. Amber and Mike provide detailed pictures and descriptions of each exercise, and feedback on your performance of them. Style: offers thoughtful advice on other approaches and exercises. Willing to adapt to your pace and style. Amernities: good location EP, good freeway access, attractive/updated/flexible space. Patti good with billing, appointment times. Always on time. It doesn't get any better than this for Physical Therapy. more

We first found Mike Dixey at OrthoRehab in E.P. when my son was experiencing knee pain. After working with 3 other physical therapists and getting no improvement, our orthopedic doctor suggested exploratory knee surgery. Instead, thankfully we were referred to Mike by someone who also had the pleasure of working with him. Within 5 minutes of examining my son, Mike knew exactly what was wrong and was clearly explaining the situation and solution to us. We consider Mike a miracle worker! I have seen Mike for a few different things and also received excellent care from he and his staff. Mike is extremely knowledgeable, capable, kind, patient and is happy to take the time to answer any and all questions. Amber does a fantastic job at explaining and demonstrating all of the exercises and Patti makes you feel welcome and comfortable the minute you walk through the door. What a great group of people. We are so happy to have found them! more

I'd seen several other PT's, massage therapists and chiropractors that attributed my various aches and pains to the badly fractured ankle I'd experienced 5yrs ago. Everything was a temporary 'fix' until I met with Mike and Amber at the urging of my personal trainer. For the first time someone not only provided a different diagnosis and thoroughly explained it, but they also put me on a program that to correct my issues instead of masking them. Finally! (And there's also a major difference between the team of Mike and Amber compared to other ""professionals""... they cut you loose when you're cured!) Can't recommend them highly enough. more

MIke Dixie and his staff (Amber and Patti) are the most professional health care providers we have met. Both my son and I met with Mike for various ailments (some quite serious). Their prompt attention and sincerity to our well-being was obvious from the moment we walked in the door. Mike's diagnoses were accurate and his prescribed exercises virtually life-saving. He was able to pinpoint the exact issue causing the pain. MIke is very patient and willing to answer questions. We never felt rushed nor did we leave the office with pending issues. Mike and his staff are now our first destination before scheduling appointments with any physician. We have also referred friends and athletes to them and their feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We feel fortunate to have found OrthoRehap Specialists. They are truly an amazing group of people! In my estimation, I consider them ""miracle workers."" more

I went to OrthoRehab in Eden Prairie because I have had severe shin splints from running for over a year. Mike Dixey did a very good job at determining what was causing the pain, and helped me from there. I am a running, and at the time I was preparing for a half-marathon. Today my shins are better, and I can run longer without hurting. He also had recommendations for shoes to wear to help support my feet when I am running. Mike Dixey and his team are very good at helping with what the injury is you have, and they are very caring and get to know each patient personally. Best experience I have had ever, and appreciate their help! more

Truly cannot do better! I have had several somewhat positive rehab experiences - following shoulder surgery, a neck injury and a badly sprained ankle. BUT - none of the therapists were as attentive and talented as Mike Dixey & his team at Ortho Rehab! None of the injuries he has treated have relapsed following his intelligent treatment and advice. I am a very active 60 year old and wanted to get back on the courts and slopes as quickly as possible and Mike made sure that I did but not before I was absolutely ready. Unlike other treatments, I have not had to go back to re-treat an injury once my therapy was complete. NOW, I just have to quit injuring myself!! more

Unfortunately for me this is the second time in a year that I've had to undergo physical therapy. In 2010 I had a foot fused and after a lengthy recovery I began PT. I went to the Institute for Athlelic medicine in Eden Prairie. I began working with a therapist who was in their training program. Part way through my rehab he moved on to another location and I was assigned to another trainee. His treatment program differed greatly from the first. While I did recover I wasn't happy with feeling that I was given to students without a consultation of a long standing therapist and felt like a guinea pig.\r In 2011 I suffered a knee injury and was advised to begin physical therapy to try and rehabiltate without having surgery. I did my research and chose OrthoRehab Specialists after what I had read about them. WOW, what a difference! I first met with Mike Dixey and we discussed my injury and prognosis. He decided on a treatment plan and we began working together. Mike introduced me to his partner, Amber Banwart, and she was brought into the loop on my recovery program. These are the only 2 therapists that I work concurrently with and I appreciate that they are both fully aware of my condition. I did end up having surgery but my knee was kept in the best physical condition possible prior to surgery to aid in a faster recovery. As soon as I was allowed I went back to OrthoRehab and have been working with Mike and Amber since then. I am on my way to getting back to my life and I owe so much to OrthoRehab in making this possible.\r If you or someone you care about finds the need for physical therapy I recommend 100% going to OrthoRehab. Mike and Amber truly care for their patients. They get to know you, take an interest in each patient and make what can be an uncomfortable process as much fun as it can be. While I hope I won't need PT again if I do I'll be back. more

I had an amazing experience at the OrthoRehab Specialist office in Eden Prairie. They turned what should have been the worst nine months of my life into the best. The rehab given to me was challenging, but with their support physically and emotionally i knew i could get through anything. Mike and Amber are very special people and i am so thankful i got the opportunity to work with them. They use very innovative and creative ways for therapy, keeping it interesting and intriguing. There are not many offices as good as this one! more
