I started suffering from extreme shoulder pain in June of 2011. I thought with rest, the issue would subside. Three months later, I finally saw a doctor at Tria who diagnosed me with an impingement and suggested I see Mike Dixey. She described him this way: ""Mike is good with shoulders."" As it turned out, that was an understatement.
In my first appointment with Mike, he actually promised that I would get better. That's not something you get with most healthcare professionals these days. Mike's assuredness, however, comes from the fact that he is incredibly knowledgeable in his field of study. He knew exactly what exercises and stretches were necessary to 'cure' my impingement.
Both he and Amber were patient in their instructions, making sure I was doing the prescribed stretches and exercises correctly. They were also incredibly supportive when things became difficult. Physical therapy can be a long and sometimes painful process, but with Mike's encouragement, I knew all the work was going to be worth it. His and Amber's commitment to me and my recovery made me commit to my recovery myself.
Mike released me from PT a few days ago. My pain has diminished considerably and my mobility is near normal. I still have 4 more months of home care, but during this time Mike has assured me that I can call with any questions or concerns, so I'm not entirely on my own.
Ultimately, there aren't enough stars to sum up my rating for OrthoRehab. Mike, Amber--and Patti too--are simply the best!
