awful.. the absolute worst company to do business with. i got hooked up with them because i bought a new home comfort system from home depot and home depot sent them out to install it. from the get-go i had issues.. they gave me a rebate form for srp.. i tried for 3 months to get a signed rebate form from them to turn into aps so that i can get my $600 rebate.. well, i was unsuccessful, because by the time i got the attention of the higher-ups in ahm, my rebate opportunity had expired, the form had to be submitted within 90 days of installation. just like the ex-employee below wrote.. i was at the bottom of the priority list because my system is under warranty.. so when my a/c went out over 4th of july weekend 2 years ago, i was left high and dry. we had family in town, with an extra dog in the house... we ended up with 6 people, a baby, and 2 dogs in a house with no a/c in the middle of a phoenix summer.. it was over 100 in my house for more than 3 days. we had to get rid of most of the food in the cabinets, one of our refrigerators quit working because it never got a rest. the solution that ahm offered was a $50 a night credit toward a hotel room... on a holiday weekend for 7 people and 2 dogs!!! i realize after reading the former employee's comment below that they probably just didn't want to pay a technician to work on a holiday weekend. as soon as my ""prepaid maintenance plan"" is up.. i will never see orangutan home services again. every time they come out (twice a year) for this prepaid maintenance, we have to fix something. they always turn our condensation drain up, so that it fills with water and eventually shuts the system off for safety, because the water cannot drain. we have to go back out (every time they leave) and flip it back down, so that it drains. this last time (in dec) they came out and pealed off the tape that seals up the intake duct.. then the guy tried to charge me $75 to reseal it.. and gave me a flyer about poor air quality and babies. hoping to sell me on a reseal because it might put my daughters health at risk. my boyfriend got home, went out there and resealed in it minutes.. he said that it wasn't like that 3 days earlier when he took the door off to get the filter out and clean it. they are awful.. please, please, please do not hire these people!! more

i am a former employee of american home maintenance, allowing me to see this companys business antics. the only good warranty would be the maytag warranty, because maytag will deal with a customer directly. something most people dont know is that trane unit are only the best when opperated on by a highly certified tech. american home maintenance hires ANYONE off the street (more commonly prison released convicts) with only 3 day ride alongs with other non certified tech. the reason for this, is because american home maintenance looks for SALES PEOPLE not techs. the company thinks as long as your unit is broken then business is good otherwise called "job sercurity" it is also known among ALL EMPLOYEES that once a person/ customer purchase the ten year trane warranty that the ONLY other sales oppertunity is plumbing(discontinued) making them the lowest priority in the company only to make room for a new customer with new problem that COST money...... i personal know the owner jordy tessler is a penny pinching crook that will fire anywhere from 10 to a whole department to pay for something along the lines of either a new car or new custom tires costing in the range of 7,000 dollars while telling the rest of his employees to be thankful they have a job. i quit this job because on MANY occasions i was paid to lie to the customer while leaving them with no air because there was no money oppertunity to be gain. frustration 12/21/2011

I loved this company as American Home Maintenance, but have had nothing but frusrtation and VERY HIGH costs for materials since the change to Orangutan. Like the filters. Orangutan sells them for twice what you can get them on the internet. Even after paying overnite shipping I saved $10.00.\r I to had issue trying to get the APS rebate, never did it accomplished so lost out on it. Wish I'd thought of filing my on incomplete report like the other man said.\r Would really like to see the ""service"" in coustomer service come back to this company. Unfortunetly, I have a multiyear contract with them so can't leave them yet. more

Can't get any help! 12/15/2011

I purchased a new air conditioner in July from this company. The sales and service people were very nice and helpful and I was told I would be eligible for an APS rebate. At first I was told they would leave paperwork with me, but the person who did the install knew nothing about it. I called orangutan and was told that they would submit it for me. So on 8/17 I spoke to Janelle to follow up and she said it was never submitted but she would be happy to process it for me. I gave her my info and thought I was done. By late October I called because I never received it and they said it was never filed. Spoke to someone named Shawn who guaranteed me he would get it filed for me and it would take 6 to 8 weeks. So I waited and called back in Dec (2 weeks ago). Now they transferred me to Charmaine who is in charge of this. She said she would look into and call me back. She never called me back. I'm so frustrated now that I called APS and they said no rebate was ever submitted for me. I only have 6 months to submit and my time is almost up. So I submitted an incomplete form and they said they will contact Orangutan Home services for the rest of the info. I waited a week and called APS today and they said no one has gotten back to them still. So I called Orangutan again and they again promised to have Charmain call me. I really don't understand why they won't help me with this. I purchased an additional warranty through them on my unit as well and am now really worried because of their lack of customer service. I would think twice before using this company. more

very unhappy with my service 7/9/2011

Previously American Home Maintenance, now Orangutan Home Services-- I was once very pleased with this company and have bought 3 air conditioners from them but I will never use them again. My air conditioner went out on June 27th. A repairman came out on the 28th and left after about 20 minutes saying that he could not get anyone on the phone and he was not going to waste his time on hold. He said he would be back later. I assumed he would come back later that same day. I called twice on the 29th and was told some one would call me back. On the 30th I was told that it appears that a part was ordered and someone would get back to me later. I called 3 times on Friday, the 1st, and never got any call back. I again called 3 times on the 5th and was told someone would be in touch with me but never got a single call. Many more calls were made by me on the 6th, 7th and 8th. Never once was my call returned until I got a call late on the 8th that a part came in and someone would be here to fix the AC on the next day. I stayed at home all day Saturday, the 9th and called twice to confirm that my AC was to be repaired today and was told someone would be here to fix it around noon. It is now 4pm and after waiting all day, no one has yet to showed up. I have been with out AC for 12 days now (in July!) and in all that time I have had only one phone call from the company in spite of me trying to reach them every day. I have purchased almost $50,000 in air conditioners from this company in the past 8 years and this is how they treat me. I regret ever giving this company even a dime of my money. They used to be a very good company but something has happened to them. I am truly disgusted and mad at how they have treated me. P.S. I was very happy with Shawn DeVriese who came for an AC inspection about 4 months ago. He is one of their few great employees. It was clear that he was the first one to really clean the coils and inspect the units even though the company sent out workers to do this twice a year. more

Con Artists... 4/14/2011

Signed a three year contract back in 07' for maintenance on my trane air conditioner. The service was ok back then (American Home Maintenance) The company is now called Orangutan home services. The last service on my old contract came up in 2010. I was told I had a bad dual cap, my system was working fine at the time. The cost of the dual cap was $489.00 I went ahead and had the guy replace it. Tom L, is his name. He told me since I was spending that kind of money I should sign up for a contract. I could sign up for a three year since the part was more expensive. I ended up signing up for a 5 year contract @ $699.00 Later my A/C failed during a hot of the summer, I was told it was the dual cap, so they came out and replaced it no charge. 2 months later another part failed I had to fork out $173.95 for a starter cap... I had a regularly scheduled tune up / system check come up in march 11' I'm told my inside coils are badly corroded.. He wrote on the service recommendation ""Unit Replacement"". Since I paid these jokers over the years to maintain my system, and I paid good money to have this thing properly maintained and serviced does it need replacement!! To add insult to injury the guy proceeded to try to get me write a check for 6K & have the thing replaced right away.. telling me that copper prices & electrical equipment prices are only going up.. I can't believe overall lack of consideration this company is just looking to line their pockets with your money.. then tell you later on that your system is shot... I regret ever signing any contract with this company.. don't do business with this outfit...!!! more

Orangutan - stay away! 3/24/2011

Bait and switch artists. they offer low prices for checkup (no actual cleaning, lubrication etc. is done) and then have a laundry list of corrective action items. They will then "do you a favor" and sell you a 3 year service contract and then perform the repairs. I will not do business with anyone who operates like this and neither should you. more

Orangutan bait and switch. 3/24/2011

Bait and switch. They offer low prices for AC checkup and then try to upsell you on everything. The checkup includes nothing except an opportunity to sell you parts and service contracts. The unit is opened up for the inspection but they will not clean the coils while there. That is an extra call (and charge). Parts and services are way too expensive so they try to roll you into a 3 year service agreement instead. They remind me of the low rate carpet cleaners that just want to get in the door and then upsell away. I will never do business with them again. more

Stay away from this company 2/25/2011

Stay away from this company as they do poor work, they don't stand behind the products they sell you, they overcharge, they never follow up with you, and they will try to sell you stuff you don't need. If a guy named Louie ever comes to your front door, run.....hide your money and run. We have had them install numerous things over the years, reverse asmosis, hot water heater pump, and a Zeta Rod which is supposed to provide soft water.....the Zeta Rod never worked and when I called to have them remove it so we could ship it back to the company as defective, they wanted $350 to take it out and another $150 to re-install it.....really? more

Job not completed and no return calls. 8/5/2010

I hired them in October 2009 to install a new system in my home. As of yet almost a year later and after numerous calls the system is not fully installed, and does not heat the house or cool the house properly. One tech understood with the problem was but they never sent him out to do the work and each and every time some one came out we ended up with a new problem. still one room is not connected at all as agreed on the contract house does not cool down. and they have not been returning any calls, they even sold and made profit out of my old unit and each time someone comes out they keep trying to talk me into having my swamp cooler removed. Now they are simply hanging up. they charged my card the full amount and have yet to complete. i have called the install mgr , customer service mgr. supposedly they are the top rated and trane is suppsed to be the best. I am beyond disgusted with them. and now have sent a letter to the local news station, filed a complaint with BBB, and sent another complaint letter to a legal firm. I am sure I am not the only one out there they have done this too. My electric bill is more than it was with the old system. They are in breech of contract and have done nothing but make matters works. if there was a negative rating on this i would have given them -10.\r more
