GREAT vet care and customer service !!! 2/10/2011

Need a vet ???- usually never write a review, but felt that it was the best I can do for all at North Laurel Animal Hospital. I have been going there over the years, but this week my dog had a skin condition that has required a lot of their attention. I was so pleased with the treatment that we recieved from the staff and both doctors. From Darlene, at the front desk, who is very accomidating and is a receptionist that actually listens to you, not just hears you. ( i observed her console another client who just said good-bye to her long time furry friend. I was very touched by her compassion ) to Ashley (vet tech) - who is working on helping me improve my dogs weight and health issues, she is so good with my dog,to the INCREDIBLE Dr. BOB, i cant say enough about, and can not thank him enough for all of his care. more

best we have met in YEARS 1/28/2011

We have been taking our 2dogs to Dr Bob for 15 + years . We have called him late in the day and he and his staff stayed to see our animals when they were I'll. Our previous hospital would send us to an emergency center no matter what.\r Some of our animals were quite sick nod Dr Bob and his staff handled us and our pets like they were part of his family.\r He w able to diagnose Pancreatitis in our older dog VERY rapidly along with sending the x-rays to a radiologist and the ultrasound for confirmation of the problem. he transfused our dog and stabilized him over about 7 hours then referred us to an internal medicine\r specialist who handled the case over night. They told us how well Dr Bob handled the case and that because he was so aggressive on in the disease that he was the reason Alex survived.\r We think Dr Bob really cares about his patients and their owners .\r We are going to be long term clients because of the quality of care\r And the fact that everyone there seems to care!\r We more

Best Doctor ever! 1/4/2011

I recently had to put my beloved pet to sleep. Dr. Covert was the most compassionate and understanding person. She contacted me even on hours she was not working via email! She is one of the best doctors I have ever met and I will continue to bring my pet to see Dr. Covert at NLAH! more

North Laurel Animal Hospital 9/2/2010

We have taken all our pets (5 dogs and 7 cats over the years) to NLAH since we moved to MD over 20 years ago. The care we receive there has always been medically top notch, caring, understanding and patient with all temperaments of pets, and equally understanding and respectful when helping us to make difficult decisions. With the exception of one vet whom was asked to leave after complaints, Dr. Bob and his partners have always been wonderful. \r \r Dr. Bob is not one to advertise his contributions within the community, but I know that he has contributed to animal welfare in our area in a number of different ways: helping shelter/ rescue programs, treating injured strays, and helping to find homes for homeless pets. None of these activities benefit him financially. \r \r I highly recommend NLAH. more

The most professional and compassionate service possible 8/16/2010

I can not express how impressed both myself and my husband were by the service provided by NLAH in regards to my sick dog. We were new to the area and had read reviews online praising the both professionalism and compassion of the vets and front staff - which were so well deserved. From the first moment I made the phone call to schedule an appointment to the final moments of our pet's life before she was put to sleep, I was in awe at how amazing all the staff were over the 5 days our dog stayed there. They were sensitive to the difficult time I was experiencing, they treated my dog with not only respect but genuine love and affection, they listened to my concerns, provided options and advice whenever I had any questions (which was frequently). On the practical side they kept me aware of expense and were able to provide an estimate. There were no hidden fees and all tests undertaken were well considered and relevant. I can honestly say that they made an unbearable situation so much more more

If you are debating NLAH you really should give them a call or visit - it is the best thing you could do for your pet and yourself (especially if there are significant health concerns). more

Very Supportive, Caring and Compassionate 6/9/2010

We have been using North Laurel Animal Hospital for 5 years now, through the recommendation of my cousin who used the practice for years before moving out of the area. My first meeting with Dr. Bob was before the office even officially opened for the day when I approached the hospital carrying a terrified and severely injured cat. Dr. Bob immediately opened the doors to us and took the injured cat straight to an exam room. From there, he and his staff worked to set up a donation system to help pay for her multiple surgeries to repair 3 fractures in her jaw. Because our family was not sure we would be able to keep a stray cat in our household of parrots, Dr. Bob and his staff helped to make sure that both the cat and our family received the support we needed to see her through her recovery.I am eternally grateful to the North Laurel Animal Hospital for seeing us through this challenging time - letting us come to the back office to visit daily with the cat, checking up on her frequently more

Kudos from Char 6/3/2010

Dr. Bob Cohn and I go back quite a few years and pets. I first came in contact with Doc when I worked for Dr. Scott Sanderson in Columbia, MD. We developed a wonderful working relationship and when I left Dr. Sanderson's office and started nursing school, Doc offered me a position at NLAH. We've been friends and colleagues for what seems like forever. Bob and his staff have seen my family through both the good and bad times with our pets. He's been right with us as we've experienced the loss of several of our pets and has cried right along with us. I have never doubted his judgement when it comes to the health of my pets. Kudos to you Doc along with your staff! more

Very compassionate and understanding 6/2/2010

We've been taking our cats to Dr. Bob for years now. After my wife found an abandoned cat by the side of the road who had been hit by a car, Dr. Bob and the staff took excellent care of both her and us, and were incredibly compassionate about the entire experience. We've since adopted two other cats and we bring all three of them to Dr. Bob and NLAH for care. more

Love my vet...... 5/29/2010

I have been using Dr. Bob for about 8 years. I first went to him after another vet got mad at one of my cats & threatened to hit him. That same cat gave Dr. Bob problems but he knew not to put his fingers in the cat's mouth. Hoss developed cancer several years later. Dr. Bob & his staff helped me through that difficult time. I have 3 cats, 2 of whom were rescues I got from their office. I have always been able to call with the smallest issue. My cats have seen Dr. Covert the last couple of visits. She is the 1st vet Rosie has not hissed at. That's amazing. Highly recommend. more

Wonderful 1/29/2010

Six years ago, we were in search of a vet for Sissy. I was referred to NLAH by family members. She was well taken care of by Dr. Bob, Dr. Matbly and Dr. Covert. Sissy had been tramautized before she join our lives and it took her awhile to bond, but she eventually felt comfortable at NLAH. The laser treatments for her arthritis helped her immensely. They were expensive but made her so much more comfortable and increased the quality of her life. We recently had to make the heart wrenching decision to put Sissy to sleep but through it all, Dr. Bob and Dr. Covert were extremely supportive. We will never forget the kindness of Megan, Sarah Cindy and Darlene. Sissy loved Megan and Megan returned the love. more

We Love NLAH Dr. Bob and Dr Kris 8/31/2009

I have been seeing the NEW Doctor at North Laurel Animal Hospital, I think it's Dr. Kris. She has a wonderful personality, and she has already shown us that she fits in quite well. Her approach to our sick dog was wonderful. She handled her with great care and respect. The work up done by her was right on. Once we determined the severity of her problem, she referred us to a specialist that took over, and we promptly started Chemo for her. SO far, so good! We were a little apprehensive when we first met her, since we had been seeing Dr. Bob for a few years, but he wasn't available and Dr. Kris was, so we gave her a shot. We hope she stays there! She's a great addition to the hospital. more

North Laurel Animal Hospital is not great 6/27/2009

They seem to be getting too busy at NLAH. In the beginning I loved the service. At first we felt that they really took the time to answer all of our questions. We were customers for 5 years and we felt that they spent less and less time with each pet. Dr. Bob and Dr. Maltby are both great vets, but it was just too expensive, and most importantly there just didn't seem to be time to address all of our concerns. Also, the front desk staff can be unfriendly and short. more

5-Star Vet! 6/8/2009

When deciding to adopt an ex-racing greyhound we began searching for just the right vet. We waned someone that would provide expert care, had expert knowledge of the breed as we were new to all things greyhound. Dr. Bob Cohn came highly recommended from the greyhound message boards and contacted his office. The staff was very friendly and most accommodating. Meeting Dr. Bob was like meeting an old friend, unlike the cold and distant service we received from past vets. We tested him with our 2 Siamese sisters first (who are a hard sell.) They were the most relaxed and loving with a vet we'd ever seen. We appreciated his thoroughness, knowledge of the breed, and his interaction with the girls. It made fr a most pleasant experience. For those of you with cats, I'm sure you understand what I mean. We went back to see Dr. Bob when we adopted our greyhound, Lizzie. She loves him! She loves his staff! The bond, the professionalism, surgical procedures, and after-care follow ups are by far uns more

Best in the area 6/5/2009

My family started with Dr. Bob years ago when we moved here from N.J. and had a sick pet. We called him late in the afternoon and we were able to be seen the same day,we had called 2 other hospitals and were told that we would have to wait over the weekend to be seen since we were new to the area. He took his time to completely examine our dog. His staff was very helpful when it came to us going to the office on a weekly basis for treatments for our dogs long term ear problems. We were amazed that he was able to clear up our dogs ear problems which had been plaquing him for over 3 years. The front desk staff has changed over the years, and so have the technicans, but everyone there has been supportive of us, and our dogs needs. We eventually lost our friend, but have since gotten a new dog and we continue to take her there. I would recommend this place to anyone who cares about their pets...they always try to work us in when we had a problem in the past, even late in the evening more

From bad to great 6/5/2009

My first impression of the North Laurel Animal Hospital was less then stellar. The staff were kind and warm when I arrived and the Technician spent time asking questions and noting my concerns for Rascal, my 10 year old golden I was then seen by Dr. Adsit. She seemed like she knew what she was talking about but she kept talking down to me, like I was completely incompetent. I don't think this is any way to treat the people who allow your business to thrive.I went back about a week ago for a follow up visit and was seen this time by Dr. Bob, who I found out is the owner, upon my visit. We struck up a witty conversation and I just felt much better about the whole experience. Dr. Bob really included me in the medical decisions and made sure I completely understood everything he was talking about. He also informed me that Dr. Adsit is longer with the practice because there were simply too many complaints like the one I just registered. Yes his prices are a bit up there but I would gladly p more

VERY Expensive, good vet 4/7/2009

We have been clients of Dr Bob's for over a decade. We have found Dr. Bob to be an excellent compassionate vet.\r However, we have found that they order many tests and workups that are unnecessary and expensive.\r The staff is not as friendly or compassionate> They do not reflect Dr Bob's good nature and the office manager is rude and crude. \r \r Would not recommend due to cost and staff. more

Good vet 2/26/2009

Dr. Bob has cared for our animals through sickness & health. As a multiple pet owner, 4 dogs and one cat, we were in his office frequently. He was compassionate and kind. We were with his practice for about 10 yrs. more

Most caring vet I have ever met 11/3/2008

Dr. Bob is the most caring vet I have ever met. He truly loves animals and goes out of his way to help them and comfort their families. He is quite expensive compared to other vets I have had. His front desk staff seems to be mainly interested in collecting money. If you can get past the money issues with the staff, North Laurel is the best animal hospital ever. more
