I am a gastronomic snob and a chef, so I am not picky when it comes to food , but I am definitely judgmental. I have eaten at the best restaurants all over the US, so believe me w...

Great Brunch-Attractive Restaurant 2/8/2007

This a quaint place serving up a great brunch. I have eaten dinner and brunch there a fewl times and have always enjoyed the food. Some of the items -i.e crawfish, oysters maynot be for everyone, but the menu is pretty diverse and has someting to offer everyone. Its a neighborhood place with a good vibe and friendly staff. Pros: brunch, different menu items, price Cons: snug bar area more

Nice place, mediocre food 2/1/2007

This is a nice place, but the food is nothing special. I dined here last Wednesday evening with four friends. The service is very friendly, but, seems perpetually confused. They just seem uncertain about who ordered what, occasionally confuse tables' orders, didn't know the soup of the day had been changed, etc. I don't consider the space small - certainly not by Manhattan standards. We were seated in the front of the house on a cold evening and the chill seeps through the 'french doors', which took away from the dining experience. Worse when the door opened. The food is surprisingly indisctinct. We should expect more from such a rich cuisine and a kitchen that claims a heritage to New Orleans. I had the jambalaya in which the rice was soft and the meats dry and undistinguished. A nice, short selection of beers, but a lackluster wine list. The substantial portions are reasonably priced, but the food is nothing special. Pros: Friendly service Cons: Mediocre food, drafty front dining area more

NoNo is a BIG Yes Yes 1/10/2007

I would like to totally disagree with the last review because it just so happens I was there that same night that jaxynn0102 was there (1/6/06) because the customer was so loud she made sure everyone heard. The service was just fine. Especially the waitress she is talking about. In no way was she rude. My husband and I actually had a very pleasant conversation with her. I would highly recommend NoNo's for their food and service. It could get a little tight but other than that we had a very enjoyable meal and finally when miss jaxynn0102 left a lot of hot air left too. Yes she might have gotten a free meal out of it, but I made sure to tell the management that I overheard her say to her friend how she has gotten free meals before under these circumstances at other restaurants. Hmmmmmm do I see a pattern here and I wonder who has the attitude problem. The fried oysters were incredible, as were the baby back ribs and filet mignon. I can't wait to go back and try the other entrees. They give out very large portions especially the ribs so you might want to share. Didn?t have dessert but the banana fosters-like dessert looked incredible. Pros: Great food and service Cons: Tight quarters more

NoNo is a BIG No No part deux... 1/5/2007

Pelusita? I pity you for being so pathetic as to listen in on my conversation. I have never tricked any restaurant out of money in my entire life. I come from the service industry, I respect it, and I feel that I was treated very poorly for reasons unknown. Our waiter (once switched) received a 25 dollar tip from me and my guest. More than half of the price of our meal. Also we still paid for a portion of our meal. We saved no money whatsoever by voicing our complaints. Our dreadful experience began not too shortly after sitting down. We were greeted with smiles by the hostess, but shortly after we were curtly greeted by a sloppily dressed waitress, things began to go sour. I asked for my Etouffee spicy although contradictory to how it is normally prepared. My waitress not only scoffed at my request but repeatedly and rudely told me how my entree would loose flavor. I let her know if the chef had a problem preparing my food in that fashion, that I would order the something else. She walked away before allowing me to finish my sentence. Our waitress ignored our table going forward, not delivering our appetizers, or providing us with water. She was very rude to me and my guest twice, and never once asked us how we were doing. I curtly asked her if she was still our waitress. Just out of curiosity considering we had only seen her whip by our table without offering us service. She replied to me by saying, I see you are sweating, is your food hot enough?? in a clearly sarcastic manner. She also walked away laughing. Now this is clearly inappropriate on so many levels. Not only did she try to embarrass me in front of my guest but she was blatantly rude, sarcastic, and snide with her patrons and the comment was completely uncalled for! A New Orleans atmosphere is warm, friendly, family oriented, and welcoming. Not frigid, rude, and unaccommodating like the one presented to me and my friend on Saturday night. All in all ok restaurant, terrible service. Pros: Great food Cons: Terrible Service more

Really, really great food 11/17/2006

I was nervous this place would be just a gimmick, but I was happily surprised. They do have the expected N.O. dishes - gumbo, po boys, catfish - but they put an amazing twist on everything. I've never had fried chicken so flavorful, a pork & green apple appetizer to die for, sweet peas that tasted like candy. 1 app, 2 entrees and 2 beers came to $51. Very friendly service, but it's a really cramped space and nowhere to wait, if there's a wait. Also, it was pretty damn chilly by the front windows. But everything we tasted was fantastic, and I'm really happy to have this place in the Slope. Pros: great food, friendly staff, diverse menu Cons: cramped, not much room at bar more

Great New Orleans Cuisin at Park Slope, Brooklyn 10/16/2006

We had the best New Orleans food ever! Just opened, this cozy and tastefully decorated Restaurant is deffinetly going to be a big success. Great customer service, great ambiance and gorgeous food. For now they have a limited menu and are waiting for the liquor license, so take the wine and beer with you. We can't wait to go back and enjoy their new dishes. more

Cozy atmosphere and decor, great food. 10/12/2006

Brand new place, still the first week. The food is very good, traditional New Orleans cuisine (according to a New Yorker). Gumbo, etouffee, ribs, jambalaya. I had the crab cake appetizer, which was amazing in its simple goodness. Also, the flaming bananas foster is a great cap to a wonderful meal. Quality pieces of chocolate came with the check (so much better than those typical dinner mints). It is BYOB pending a liquor license so bring your wine and beer for now. The staff was very friendly and the chef made it around to each table. The decor is well appointed and comfortable. All in all a very nice dining experience and we will definitely return. Pros: Food, Ambience, After dinner chocolates Cons: Slightly pricey, limited menu (but still first week of operation) more
