Phenomenal school with a no bullshit/ get on the grind attitude. It's arduous, tedious, and the right kind of challenge to anyone willing to grab the bull by both the horns and ba...

I researched schools before choosing The New York Bartending School. The 2 things that caught my eye were that they were a branch of the PBSA, a national bartending association, a...

hands-on trial lesson 12/22/2006

The teacher was really cool. She taught us a lot of traditional drinks as well as teaching us to look outside of the box. Pros: lifetime refresher courses, more

enjoyable 12/21/2006

Made me feel comfortable, confident, and unafraid to speak up when I had questions. Great Teacher, very recourseful. Pros: the seminars more

just awesome! 12/21/2006

I asked a few friends where I can go, every each one of them recommended me to NYBS. The free intro class really sucked me in. It was fun and you get to learn more than just Mixology. The actual classes are just as fun. Four hours go just like that. Pros: couldn't have asked for a better instructor! more

great teacher =) 12/21/2006

The job placement was what drew my attention and the trial class helped in my decision making. I really enjoyed learning about all the different liquors because I came here not knowing anything. more

Always positive, upbeat, encouraging. 12/21/2006

The school is licensed and your website was very appealing. Also your location helped in my decision making as did the cost compatred to some other options. From mixing drinks to tapping a keg, interview techniques, confidence, in my own mind I am now much more comfortable (confident) about seeking and gaining employment as a bartender. Thanks! more

Highly knowledgable without being intimidating. 12/18/2006

I liked the flexible hours that they offered. The price was reasonable & being able to return anytime throughout my life w/o paying is a big plus. The instructor made us feel very relaxed and encouraged us to learn. He is a great motivator and he really wants you to succeed. My peers were very helpful & lots of fun! Outstanding instructor. 12/15/2006

An ad in the Village Voice attracted me. I was very pleased that the school allowed me to apply the deposit I left in Spring '06, when I returned in Nov. '06. Pros: learning the many mixed drink ingredients and practicing w/speed drills more

Mixing drinks and learning 12/13/2006

NYBS offered hands on training in a realistic bar setting and was exactly as advertised. The main appeal was being able to return for follow up classes and placement help both here and abroad. The Absolut presentation was cool also. Very good instructor. His method of learning by doing helped greatly with my retention of most of the drinks I learned about. Knowledge of wines was very cool. I also thought that he demonstrated a good bartender persona in terms of the energy and outgoingness his position requires. more

fun the whole time 12/12/2006

I was informed more than any other place I tried to check out before deciding on a school. Also the fact that I can come back anytime is great. The instructor was very informative. Letting us know if we did anything wrong and keeping us confident which made it a good experience. I didn't get bored. more

Gave good insight to the real world! 12/11/2006

Appearrance of the school itself, after attending the intro-class, it was a pretty easy decision. Also reading the testimonials online and comparing to the other schools reviews and comments. My favorite experience aside from the taste-test from Absolut was actually learning the history and process of how spirits/wine and beer are made and where there distinct flavors come from. It will allow for me to be a more informed resource and educated bartender, rather than just a "drinkslinger"! Pros: excellent attitude, great instructor! more

good experience 12/11/2006

The instructor was great. Knew his stuff well, had advice to share not just for passing, but for getting hired and handling real situations as well. Pros: TIPPS certification, international licensing, good rep more
