Love the food! The best food I've had in a long time. The service was a little slow. But I didn't mind.

I totally agree with every reviews on here that talk about the terrible service and rude awful manager. I've eaten at nakama a few times. It's either hit or miss. My time there is...

I am very picky with my food. Not many resturants in the area have many things to choose from. I have always been able to find a meal that I enjoy on their menu. more

I have eaten at Nakama numerous times and it is a great restuarant. Actually, one of the best in Pittsburgh. The Sushi is phenominal and the Hibachi style cooking is fun and taste great. Everyone should try it!!! more

Can't beat the sushi! 9/17/2006

Sushi can be a tough thing to order, especially if you don't know what you are ordering. Nakama Japanese Steakhouse has the best sushi in the region, served with one thing you may not get anywhere else... KNOWLEDGE! You'll never get a bad recommendation from their staff. I never had a bad meal there. And the service is both speedy and friendly. I'm going back many times! more

My family recently went to Nakama and the experience was wonderful, the service, the food and the atmosphere was fabulous. My daughter wants to go weekly now. I recommend everyone going here. Best sushi bar in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

Nakama Japanese Steakhouse is an awesome restuarant for afterwork drinks in preparation for an excellent dinner. They have wonderful chefs which provide plenty of entertainment with your meal along with great customer service. If you are willing to pay the extra money for a wonderful evening in the Southside of Pittsburgh, which is great for taking that special lady, then Nakama is the place to be. Nakama has the best food and customer expirience on the southside. Not only will you have great food for lunch or dinner, but you will have a great time watching it be prepared. entertaining, gourmet japanese hibachi! 9/17/2006

I recently took my family in from out of town to Nakama - i was there recently for some cocktails and people there were raving about the atmosphere and the quality of the food. We were seated together for a hibachi-sytle meal, and enjoyed the table commentary by the chef that prepared our meals. Everyone got something a little different, and we enjoyed sharing our different dishes with each other. Everything I tried (even some of the sushi which I'm normally not a fan of} was very tasty and flavorful. We completely enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to our next trip down to the Southside to go to Nakama again soon more

My family and I love Japanese Restaurants! When we heard Nakama was coming to South Side we were so excited. As soon as it opened we made reservations to go and, I must say, Nakama exceeded our expectations by far. The food is execellent and the service was wonderful! For every special occasion my 10-year old son picks Nakama to celebrate. (Birthdays, good report cards, or just to have some quality parent/child time.) Quite frankly, there are plenty of times where we just look for a good excuse to celebrate so we can go to Nakama! And the specials that they are constantly offering, it makes it very affordable for working-class people to enjoy. more

Great Service and Ambiance 9/17/2006

Nakama is the best sushi restaurnant that I have been to since I moved here to Pittsburgh. Being a VIP member, they send me coupons and promotional offers to dine in the restaurant. Recently I brought a friend of mine from California, and we had a pleasant dinner at the sushi bar and the service was excellent! more

Outstanding sushi and sashimi in the the tri-state!! 9/17/2006

I've eaten in the most exclusive and exquisite sushi bars from LA to NY. Upon moving to the Southside, I shuttered at the thought of sushi in Pittsburgh! And then came Nakama. Thank goodness. The wonderful fresh scallops and sweet shrimp...the perfection and artistry of the chefs. Yum yum! They make a rose from my tuna and fancy my crab with it. But the freshness and taste doesn't have to be dressed-up. Although I have had different sushi, I have never had better. Also, my favorite chef makes my seaweed salad quite delectable for me (I'm not telling)! I love that the sushi bar is at the front door so you can slide in and slide out without dressing up for a night out. I've always felt like it was my corner diner. I'm sure I should try the rest of the menu, but I am hooked on the sushi, sashimi and sake and eat alone quite a bit. I've been to Shadyside and they have nothing ""Um"" Nakama! more

One of the BEST hibachi in PGH!!!!!!!!!! 9/17/2006

I go to Nakama with my girlfriends atleast once a month. We always have the best time. The food is unbelievabley good....I have NEVER had a bad meal and the service staff and chefs are always knowlegable and entertaining. I would absolutly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Best sushi and hibachi in the burgh!!! Cons: are you kidding me...NONE more

I can't even count anymore how many times I have been to Nakama! The food is amazing, always fresh, and keeps you coming back for more! The caterpillar roll is s must-have! It's not your traditional Japanese restaurant environment, but that's what makes it so great! more

Great place to entertain 9/17/2006

I'm a hero! Every client I've taken to Nakama invariably calls me to find out the next time we'll go there. The food is outstanding, the service superb and the prices, (especially during ""Happy Hour"") are affordable. I highly recommend Nakama to sushi afficionados as well as ""first-timers"". Even if sushi isn't your cup of tea, take in a show tableside. All of my clients were impressed with the performance done by expert chefs. Best Dining Experience Ever 9/17/2006

From the time we arrived until we left, we were amazed at the energetic atmosphere, the entertaining chef, and the very helpful staff. I never knew that dinner could be so fun. We will go back for the great food and wonderful feeling this place gives off. The cost was very fair and maybe even a little low as for the value we got. You definitely have to try this place, as I know you will be hooked as we are. more

Nakama has a very classy atmosphere with excellent Japanese cuisine. Watching the cooks perform tricks as well as cook is also an extra perk. Service is also great. Nakama is a great place to eat whether you're on a date, or with a group. more

Best Japanese Steakhouse in town! 9/17/2006

I recently ate at Nakama and it was one of the best dinners I have had for months. The food is amazing, the prices are low especially for the amount of food you get!!! The atmosphere is wonderful because everybody is so funny and the chefs are very entertaining. It is now mine and my girlfriends favorite Japanese Steakhouse!!! Great scene, any time of year 9/17/2006

My husband and I treat ourselves to Nakama anytime we want to celebrate. The sushi and appetizers are excellent and the service is great.
