Best

Love the food! The best food I've had in a long time. The service was a little slow. But I didn't mind.

Worst

I totally agree with every reviews on here that talk about the terrible service and rude awful manager. I've eaten at nakama a few times. It's either hit or miss. My time there is...

NAKAMA is Worth the price, the wait, everything!! 9/17/2006

Simply Stated : Surprisingly Delicious ! Worth the price! The atmosphere is busy and fun..definitely have to make reservations -even on a Monday!! That tells you something right there! Compared to Yokoso in nearby Waterfront -> NO COMPARISON ! You've got to go !\r Patty from Pittsburgh Pros: Valet Parking Cons: Reservations a MUST more

Change of Venue 9/17/2006

Fantastic food and drinks! We live in the South Hills and frequent Hibachi Japan in McMurray. This is sooooooooooooo much better. It is a little dark and loud, but hey that gives it flavor! We drive 35 minutes just to eat here! more

Hands-Down Favorite Restaurant in the Burg! 9/17/2006

I have become a devotee of Nakama and make it a point to eat there a few times a month. The sushi is the best I've eaten ANYWHERE! Even in my travels, I have found no other japanese restaurant that even comes close. The Hanalei and Boston Rolls are not to be missed!!! I've even taken friends to Nakama who swore they didn't like sushi and they've always left with a whole different outlook. The service is almost always superb (everyone has an off day now and again) and the food is ALWAYS spectacular! Parking on the South Side is always an issue, but Nakama has offset that by offering valet parking - well worth the extra $$. Pros: Fantastic sushi! more

great for food, fun, and friends!!! 9/17/2006

I recently ate for the first time at Nakama in Pittsburgh's happening South Side...loved it!!! Our chef prepared an excellent meal for us...great atmosphere....sushi was outstanding...and i even enjoyed my beverage with the light-up ice cube! Definately a unique place, well worth it!!! Pros: great food, especially sushi!!! Cons: hard to park in the south side... more

Love the spider rolls 9/17/2006

They have the best spider rolls there. Excellent service. I usually get takeout during my lunch hour and they are very quick and always very nice. Its the best sushi in town. more

No other Japanese in Pittsburgh compares to Nakama! 9/17/2006

This restaurant is downright amazing. From the decor and ambience on through to its sushi and hibachi-style dinners, Nakama epitomizes the perfect dining experience. In addition, they send out informative monthly newsletters, hold contests, and generally treat their patrons better than any local restaurant. Go to Nakama and you'll see what I mean! Pros: Ambience, sushi Cons: None! more

GREAT FOOD-EXCELLENT SERVICE 9/17/2006

I have been to Nakama's many times, enjoyed everything about being there. Good food, great tricks, the service. The employees were very helpful in whatever we needed. I never waited for ""another beer"" and that is a real plus!! The bathrooms were very clean and the attendant was very pleasant and caring. I recommend Nakama's highly, It's the best around!!!! Pros: Location, parking, service more

Great Sushi 9/17/2006

I've eaten at Nakama numerous times and just love the sushi. My boyfriend is a huge fan of the hibachi. Overall, Nakama is a great dining experience and I recommend it to anyone looking for great sushi! The ginger dressing is great too! more

Always enjoy taking business associates or friends/family here. Great Sushi and great Steak House menu. Above all, though, great bar scene that is always in full swing. more

Hot Spot/Great Food 9/17/2006

Nakama is one of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh. The atmosphere is fabulous and the staff is always friendly. I've ate at the sushi bar and in the dining area and enjoyed myself at both. I brought my friends from out of town to Nakama and our chef was absolutely fantastic. He even let us get up and cook!! Looking for a good time and good food, go to Nakama! Pros: Everything more

Best hibachi in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

A must if you live or are just visiting the Pittsburgh area. The hibachi is to die for an the sushi is just as good! Service is excellent and there is usually valet service out in front. The bartenders are experienced and create tasty martinis, like the ""T-D tini"". I definitely recommend the hibachi dinner. Plenty of choices to choose from. I prefer the Land & Sea which is a combination of scallops and NY sirloin. So GOOD!!! I'm always impressed everytime I visit Nakama. I even plan on taking my mother there for her birthday. Pros: Best hibachi in Pittsburgh, great service, and terrific sushi Cons: Packed on weekends more

Great food, great time!! 9/17/2006

I have been to Nakama twice....once for dinner and once for lunch. Both were excellent. I actually recommend lunch because it is less crowded and only a little less food for a lot less money. However, I would not hesitate to go at any time. I have been to several hibachi restaurants and this is the best by far. more

The Best Spicy Tuna Roll anywhere in the City 9/17/2006

I love this place! It has the best and freshest sushi in the city and if you like spicy tuna, you will love theirs! It's always a tough choice of what to get because everything is good.\r \r The wait staff is always available and quick to make suggestions.\r \r A very good place for a night out! Pros: The Food - The Spicy Tuna Roll Cons: It tends to get rather loud and sometimes hard to hear if you sit in the bar area. more

Best shushi, great service, supurb atmosphere, a great place to dine with friends. 9/17/2006

Been there three times for dinner and sushi. I have eaten in 5 or 6 of Pittsbutghs Sushi resteraunts and Nakama is the best hands down. The soft shell crabs rolls are to die for. The service is excellant, the cooks are friendly and entertaining. Each time we were there we were witha group and none of us had any complaints about anything. I will be back again and again! I an't wait for our next trip. Don't wait, try them today. Pros: Super service, outstanding food Cons: slightly expensive but worth it. more

Best Japanese food in the city. 9/17/2006

My daughter adores Japanese food, so I took her and her husband to Nakama for her 34th birthday.......we were VERY pleasantly surprised.\r The food was delicious, especially the soup as it was made from REAL beef stock, not colored chicken broth. The gentleman preparing our food was personable and competent.\r We had a little wait at the end of the meal waiting for our waitress to bring us change, but as soon as a manager saw we were waiting, he had us taken care of in minutes.\r I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and intend to go back many, many, times in the future.\r Thank you for listening. Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service more

Great Japanese Restaurant! 9/17/2006

I have never had a problem at Nakama, the people there are very nice, the music is great and the atmosphere is fantasic. The food and the tricks that are done are great! I wouldn't change a thing about Nakama. All of their coupons and specials are very true. As long as Nakama stays in Pittsburgh, I will continue to serve them! Pros: Parking, food, atmosphere more

One of the Best Happy Hour Spots in South Side!!! 9/17/2006

All I need to say is...Hanalei Rolls -- You HAVE to try them!. :) If you're looking for an exciting bar atmosphere, EXCELLENT sushi bar (and the hibachi is pretty damn good, too), friendly bartenders, TVs showing various sporting events and great ""mood music,"" look no further... Nakama is the place! :) Pros: Valet Parking, Delicious Food, Great Music more

Best sushi I have eaten at a very good price 9/17/2006

Excellent service and the food was beyond my expectation. I have eaten sushi in many places across the world and this is one of the best. Presentation was well done and the price was the best part. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes good sushi and Japenese food. Pros: excellent dining with a reasonable cost Cons: recommend reservations as it gets crowded more

Best service ever!!! 9/17/2006

We had never been to Nakama and I made reservations online for my husbands birthday. We arrived 45 minutes early and were seated right away. After our salad, the chef came over to cook and the grill was not ready to cook our table's order. The waiter took it upon himself to talk to the manager and we were given a discount on our bill for only waiting an extra 10 minutes. We then in turn gave the waiter our discount for the excellent service we had recieved. I can't wait to return and take our kids. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: SERVICE, ambience, friendly personnel more
