Best

Love the food! The best food I've had in a long time. The service was a little slow. But I didn't mind.

Worst

I totally agree with every reviews on here that talk about the terrible service and rude awful manager. I've eaten at nakama a few times. It's either hit or miss. My time there is...

WANT TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT-> REPORT TO NAKAMA IMMEDIATELY 9/17/2006

My friends and I love Nakama. The staff is wonderful the chefs are great and the food is amazing. Theres nothing more exciting than watching the highly skilled chef cook your food right in front of you. I can never finish my whole dinner because you get soo much good food. I recommend Nakama to everyone I know and even people I don't know. The VIP program is amazing, they reward all of their customers just for enjoying theirselves. They send you coupons and they always send out a monthly newsletter. They have a wonderful selection of food from chicken to filet migeon to lobster tail. Those are just some of my favorites. If you have never been to Nakama take a trip down to South Side 17th & Carson and enjoy a remarkable dining experience. This is a great place for just a nice and quite date to a large group of people. I hope you enjoy Nakama as much as I do!! Pros: For the people who do not know how to park in the city~ they offer valet!! Cons: I would have to say parking for people who don't know how to park in the city. But for me its fine. more

Best Japanese food and Sushi 9/17/2006

My boyfriend and I are avid Nakama goers! We love the food and the atmosphere. If you go a lot be sure to join the VIP club. It's free and rewarding! Nakama is a must for sushi lovers! Also, you can't beat the lunch specials! Pros: sushi, atmosphere, entertainment more

Best Japanese/Best in Town 9/17/2006

I love Nakama's....the food, the atmosphere, and the overall ambiance is spectular. The chefs are great especially Luke and Miso! In fact, Luke is awesome...we took a family member out for graduation and he treated her like a princess giving her extra attention and putting the biggest smile on her face :-) \r \r Additionally, the service it great...you do not have to wait a long time for your food and everything is seasoned to perfection. This restaurant is family friendly but also great for a date or business meeting. If you haven't tried Nakama's yet you have to get there ASAP!\r I know you are going to love it! Pros: Great Food/Service Cons: Parking may be kind of tough depending on time of day....but they have Valet Parking for only 5 bucks! more

First Sushi Experience 9/17/2006

I had my first sushi experience at Nakama and I was pleasantly surprised. The waitress was kind enough to recommend the items she felt would give be perfert for my first taste. The dinner was very good and the portions were more generous than other Japanese restaurants that I've been too. What I liked most was the mix of crowd there. There were families, people on dates and groups of friends. I loved it and can't wait to go again. more

Great food and atmosphere! 9/17/2006

The food and atmosphere are great at Nakama. The staff is very helpful and nice. The sushi is the best in Pittsburgh. I've eaten sushi throughout the US and Nakama is right up at the top of my list. Thanks for a great time and can't wait to go back! Pros: Great sushi and service Cons: Can be a little crowded on the weekends more

Best place to eat in Pittsburgh... Period 9/17/2006

Everyone I have ever taken there loves it. I recently tried Yokusa at the waterfront. The place was empty and they told us a 45 minute wait. After we tried to leave they sat us at the sushi bar. We sat there for over 20 minutes without a menu or drink, and we finally left. We are sticking to Nakama from now on! more

Best Japanese steakhouse in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

Great hibachi and sushi, excellent quality and quantity for the price. Can get very busy on Friday and Saturday evenings but well worth the wait. Pros: Great food Cons: Parking can be hard if not using valet more

Testimonial 9/17/2006

My boyfriend and I have been to Nakama several times and every time we have had a great experience. We try to go in big groups but it is a great experience either way, by ourselves or with a bunch of friends. The food is excellent and you will never leave hungry! more

Best Japanese Steak house in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

I am a big fan of Japanese Restaurants and I have been to everyone in Pittsburgh. Nakama is by far the best. The service is excellent, the cooks put on an incredible show, the portions are huge and the atmosphere is amazing. I try to make it to Nakama at least twice a month, if not more. You will not be disappointed. Everything about Nakama is Wonderful! Pros: Food, Portion, Value Cons: Parking more

great sushi 9/17/2006

great sushi, always a fun atmosphere. definitely go during happy hour - great deals, always lots of people, good drink selection. more

Don't Trust all the good reviews 9/17/2006

Don't trust all the good reviews. Nakama is offering a $10 coupon to anyone who writes a good restaurant review on this site. If that is not out and out bribery, I don't know what is.\r \r That said, I do enjoy the food there but it can get quite crowded, esp. on weekends. Don't even think of showing up unanounced on a Friday or Saturday night unless you are prepared for a 2 hour wait. Pros: Good food, Lively Bar Cons: Can be crowded/Noisy at times; Service sometimes spotty more

Best Food Ever!! 9/17/2006

I am a devoted Nakama customer, and I can not say enough about how fabulous this restaurant is. I try to make it there at least once every couple weeks. Not only is the food amazing, but it could feed anyone. I have never seen someone leave this restaurant hungry. This is a great place to go with a bunch of friends and just have fun!! Nakama also has a great rewards program which is always sending you promotions. Not only do I love dinner at Nakama, but Lunch is great too!! No matter how often I go, I always want to go back ASAP!!! Pros: Food, Parking, Ambience more

Great Japanese food and sushi 9/17/2006

One has to wait hours to get in but its worth it as the food is great, esp. the sushi. We drove 7 hours from Louisville, KY to get there at 9""30 pm on a Friday night and had to wait over an hour to get in, but it was delightful. We were enroute to Baltimore, MD. On our return two weeks later, we drove an extra 100 miles to return to Pittsburgh for a late lunch at Nakama's and were delighted with the sushi and Japanese items, and at 2:30 PM it was not as crowded. We will likely take the PA Turnpike for future trip to the East Coast in order to stop by for lunch or dinner there. The young people who work there are friendly and helpful and made this 72 year old guy and his younger bride feel welcome. Our trip was in June 2006 and we look forward to another pleasant dinning experience. Keep up the good work, Nakama. Pros: Good Service and friendly people once you get in to be waited on. Cons: A long wait, and rather noisy music and trouble finding parking. more

BEST JAPANESE in the Burgh 9/17/2006

Bob's triple Combo is worth a visit to the South Side. It is reasonably price tfor the quality/quantity of food that you get. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Very good food with a professional type ambiance. I will definitely be a loyal customer for years to come. more

EXCELLENT Food, Service & Ambiance! 9/17/2006

Every time I've visited, we have had a fabulous meal, excellent and entertaining service, as well as a wide menu selection to satisfy all! The atmosphere is fun, energetic and happening. Additionally, the email newsletters and updates that offer specials, newsy material, birthday dinners, etc. make this restaurant really stand out. I would recommend dining at Nakama to anyone! more

Trendiest Spot in Pittsburgh 9/17/2006

Nakama has the best social scene in the 'Burgh as evidenced by the long line of people waiting to be seated not only during the weekend but the weekdays as well. The Hibachi grill is excellent. The diver scallops are tender and reasonably priced. My husband, who is usually very picky about trying new places, loves the food as well as the atmosphere. I have to say that the bartenders make the best dirty vodka martini I've ever tasted (they use an imported White Diamond Vodka and i'm sad b/c I can't buy it at the local state store). I've always had impeccable service while dining and I would suggest Nakama for a perfect date night in Pittsburgh. more

Great food 9/17/2006

This Japanese steakhouse is great. The food is excellent. The service is quick, and the chef are talented. I will continue to recommend this restaurant to friends. more

Best Japanese Food and Service in the 'burgh!!! 9/17/2006

I've eaten at every Japanese Steakhouse in Pittsburgh. Nakama is the Best. Their food is consistent and their chefs are always very skilled and entertaining. The wait staff caters to your every need throughout the meal (this is where most other Japanese Steak Houses fall flat, they usually meat you, seat you, and after providing your beverage choices, you scarcely see them until they present you with the check!) Nakama is always my family's FIRST CHOICE. Pros: Great food! Great service! Cons: On street parking is the only drawback. more

disappointment 9/17/2006

Before reading my email today I was planning on celebrating my birthday at Nakama next month. I actually started making plans with friends this weekend. However, you will see that 261 emails were posted today prior to mine. 4 were just as displeased as I however, 257 Pittsburghers have sold their vote for a mere $10. The owner sent an email asking for a good vote and in return she would send a $10 check. Prior to today there were 18 reviews and 3 of them were Not Recommended and 1 was just average. That is 22% of the ratings. However, the comment on 8/26/2006 prompted the owner to send an email out asking to buy votes. That is disgusting and a horrible use of this website. I use this website all the time for recommendations. I will always think of this email now and will refuse to support this restaurant. Seriously folks, is $10 really a savings? People should feel they can post their not so positive feedback to a restaurant and not have this happen. This is America and we are allowed to express our opinions. And to the owners the customer is always right. 1 person tells at least 10 people of their displeasure. I personally and going to share this recommendation and your email with every media outlet I can. Cons: Owners brive you with $10 gift certificate more

Best Ever 9/17/2006

I've eaten at Nakama a few times and every time is great. I am entertained ever time I go there. It is a great place to go for a romantic dinner, out with friends, or a business dinner. Overall, Nakama is a great dining experience and I recommend it to everyone. Pros: Everything was great more
