Ordered a birthday cake,employee called for pickup time I said I would be there Sunday at 1pm and she said ok well they close at noon which I found out while trying to pickup cake. Called Monday to get refund girl that answered said yes we can when owner gets on the phone saying no. He basically accused me of lying that they had called for pickup time so I told him I would come get half my refund and never go there again to which he replied well then why am i giving you any type of refund at all!! Wow, worst customer service ever encountered. more

\r My fiancee has been buying from Naegelin's for years, and I always wanted to visit the bakery. (We live in San Antonio) \r \r I finally went and found everyone to be extremely helpful and very friendly- especially Todd (the owner) and his wife.\r \r I really enjoyed walking into the oldest bakery in Texas! Lots of history and lots of pride. \r \r I ordered two dozen cookies and some strudel. Delicious! \r \r I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BAKERY TO ANYONE WHO ENJOYS GREAT SWEETS AND IS PROUD TO BE A TEXAN.\r \r \r more

I'm a "Texas Native" who has grown up going to Naeglin's so you'd think I would defend them. However, after they completely ruined my best friend's son's first birthday cake with such distaste, I will go to any length to spread word of my disgust with them. \r First birthdays are special, with special memories, decorations and pictures that the cake is apart of and my friend had well in advance called in her order with specific instructions on style and decoration. They did the complete opposite. When she made the 30 minute one way drive to see this, the owner (over phone,) told the staff, who admitted that it wasn't salvageable that my friend could come back on Monday and receive her full refund. And to take the cake, seeing how she was jipped out of one, plus they could do nothing with it. She didn't WANT the $, she just wanted it fixed and they said that just wasn't an option!! \r I SAW the picture & description of what she wanted and in DETAIL asked for and was GUARANTEED for her son more

The owners lack professionalism and do not respect their customers at all.\r \r The quality of the product is absolutely shameful! I ordered a $40.00 cake for my son's very special 1st Birthday party expecting greatness and creativity from Naegelin's. I emailed them photos and a description of what I wanted. MOSTLY Bright Blue and Green cake with cartoon monsters that said ""Happy 1st Birthday Landon"" with very little white on it. I got the cake and it was ALL WHITE with RED writing that left out the 1st in Happy Birthday. It had one blue monster & one green monster then they outlined it all in RED and put RED, YELLOW & ORANGE dots all over it. It was a cake I could have easily got from HEB. I was very upset. I was told the cake decorator was gone. The employee called the owner and then told me that they were so sorry and the owner said that since I already paid for it, to take the cake, and if I came in or called on Monday they would give me a full refund. They even offered me free goodies from their case, which I declined. I was surprised at this very generous offer and while still very disappointed with what I got, it did help to know they were willing to do this. I made numerous attempts to call with no returned calls back. I spoke with an employee there who said she was on my side, that she saw the email I sent and once she saw the cake they made she was shocked. She said she would personally talk with the owners to help me. Once I finally spoke with Nancy, the owner's wife, she told me that there was no way they would give me a refund on a cake I took home and ate. She would give me $5.00. I asked her to speak with the employee who guaranteed me a full refund and she said NO. The owner's husband who was the one that the employee called will not speak with me. Nancy didn't care what had happened or what the employee said. That is all they were going to do. They tricked me into taking a cake home with the expectation of a solution to the issue and turned around and basically stole my money. NEVER GO THERE. more

What is there not to like about Nagelin's? They are a locally-owned business, and excel at what they do. Their whole selection of goodies makes you feel like a child licking out of the bowl of mama's homemade cookie dough. more

Since I live a distance from Nagelin's Bakery,I took advantage of ordering several items through their web site.\r They arrived sooner then expected by Fedex.\r Everything was wrapped very professionally,very fresh,and baked in the old fashion way ,I remembered as a kid.\r Tasted some of each-Strudel (it really is 2 ft long) bear claws,sweet prezels, smilie face cookies,and enjoyed ll.\r I would recommend this bakery,There aren't a lot of bakeries left still baking in this old fashion manner. more

This place is awesome. The cinammon rolls and kolaches are to die for, and they are best when you get here early enough to get them fresh out of the oven. more

Todd Granzin of Naegelins Bakery in New Braunfels, TX has no concept of customer service or honoring the customer.\r \r A recent mail order strudel (a whopping $65!!!) was shipped on 12/30/08 and not received until 1/9/09 - clearly shown by the FedEx paperwork on the strudel box. \r \r A call to the bakery on 1/9/09 rendered advice from a kind woman who answered the phone and suggested that the strudel was perishable and "she wouldn't eat it". \r \r Multiple attempts to reach Todd via email and phone were made, both before and after the strudel was delivered. \r \r When we were finally able to talk to Todd today (1/19/09), we were told that it was our (the customer's) tough luck. He was also quick to point out that he "is not someone who believes that the customer is always right" and refused to replace the strudel or refund our money. He then HUNG UP ON ME.\r \r He and Naegelins Bakery should be avoided at all costs. more

We visited the bakery after reading about them in the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce publication. We went right after Thanksgiving and it was such a treat. My family bought 6 different fresh baked desserts and we all shared! They were moist, sweet and soft. The bakery also had a large selection of breads and rolls to buy as well. I'll be sure to try those on the next visit! more

I love going to Naegelin's, a historic German-Texas bakery. Their pastries are excellent. I especially love their coffee cake, which tastes just like the German coffee cake that my grandmother used to bake. more

My wife and I usually visit Naegelins once every couple weeks to get some goodies!\r cream horns to eclairs. They are so fresh and yummy!\r They remind me of when I worked in a confectionery in Colonie NY during the summers.\r The only two downers is that they are closed on Sundays - hey after 6 days of cooking the best baked goods for everyone, they need a day off!\r The second is not much parking -- mainly on the main street out front.\r Other than that - GO and get yourself some great baked goods! Just the fact that this is Texas oldest bakery is, in itself, really cool but it also helps that they make GREAT stuff! My husband and his family are abosutely addicted to the gingerbread men and have to buy a half dozen (at least) every time they go. more
