I would never recommend this Management Company. They are unresponsive and often quite rude. We were tenets for 4 years with little issue and in the end they are taking advantage of the fact that we have moved back to the east coast. Please avoid renting from this company at all cost. They present very caring and professional but the reality is as soon as the home you rented presents a problem, i.e. mold infestation, they will down play the situation, use unethical business tactics to avoid responsibility and or repairs. After everything they put us through they very ""professionally"" presented us with documents promising our full deposit to be returned upon us moving out. When we choose to not to sign away all of our rights but did move out promptly, they took 2 months to return a very tiny portion of our deposit. They are unethical and manipulative please avoid putting yourself through hell to rent one of their over priced shacks. They are SLUMLORDS! more

BEST MANAGEMENT COMPANY IN TOWN 4/12/2011

Mountain View Management has been our management company since 2008. We are always impressed with how they are able to manage so many properties and provide attention to deatail service to not only us as owners, but our tenants also. I live in Michigan as a long distance owner, it is nice to know I can trust MVM to make the proper decisions as far as general maintenance and leasing decisions pertaining to our South Lake Tahoe properties. I would recommend Mountain View Management to anyone looking for a home to rent or a owner who needs a little help to have one hand up in the rental market as if our tenants move out MVM always impresses us with a short turn around time by fast re-leasing. Thank You MVM for making my life easier! more

It's all about appearances 1/1/2011

Mountain View Management is run by a group of snotty women who appear to be nice, but it stops there, at appearances. They think they are better than everyone else and as long as they get their money they don't really care if anyone else does. Oh they follow all the rules and pride themselves on doing things by the book but always go for their best interests and not the customers. Beware!! Not a pleasant experience to say the least! more

Forced to move out after 1 week! 8/13/2009

I relocated to South Lake Tahoe and signed a lease with Mountain View Management. My fiance and I looked at several apartments managed by this company that were all very dirty and smelly. We settled on the least dirty of the apartments and, after applying, were told that the company didn't get tenants as qualified as we were. On move in day, there was a realtor's sign in the window. I asked the property manager why it was there and she said, ""The owners didn't tell me it was for sale."" After speaking with the realtor, we discovered that Mountain View knew it was for sale and that the owners never consented to a year lease. Needless to say, we moved out after a week of living there and spent several hundred dollars moving a second time. I was hoping my experience with this company was an isolated incident but judging by the other reviews it doesn't sound like that was the case. Much like another reviewer, we are considering legal action and reporting this company to the Business Bureau. more

Our experience with Mountain View Management in South Lake Tahoe 3/2/2009

The reviews for this establishment are strange to say the least. We live in the Bay Area and have owned a condo in Tahoe for eight years. We chose MVM because they are located right next door to our condominium complex on Sandy Way in South Lake Tahoe. We signed a contract with this company in September 08 and so far our experience with them has been terrible. Tenants moved into our unit on January 9, 09. When we received our first check at the end of January we were shorted $125 because MVM made a mistake and charged us twice for cleaning. We still haven't received the money. Proceeds (the owner's portion of the rent) is supposed to be sent out on the 5th of each month, we are still waiting for our February 09 rent and the $125 from January (today is March 3, 2009). This company was acquired by Heather in January 08. Pat is her employee/property mgr. It's a very small company which employs three to four at most. Heather and Pat make a good first impression because they are very nice, eloquent and dress professionally but it stops there. Most of the time we get a voicemail greeting and have to leave a message when we call in. Half of the time our calls are never returned(even when we leave messages with a live person). We have had to call them several times and every time they have a different story about why the rent has not been sent out ? Heather is on vacation, putting the check in the mail today, etc. It sounds like this company might be in financial trouble. That's the only logical excuse I can come up with anyway. If you own a property and are looking for a good property management company BE CAREFUL. Do not use this one. If they improve I will be back to update this review but at this point that doesn't seem very likely. UPDATE 7/13/09 - We had to kick the tenants out after four months because of loud partys. The company did not screen the tenants well. Our place was left filthy and trashed. We have fired this company. They shorted us our rent proceeds in April and we are still waiting for the money (it's been over 3 months now). We are out $175 because we needed to have the place professionally cleaned ourselves and additional money because we need to repair all the damages to our unit. I am filing a complaint with the BB Bureau and intend to take legal action against this business. more

worst property manager in south lake tahoe 9/22/2008

It sounds like a couple of the glowing reviews of MVM were written by the new owners. be that as it may let me relate my experiences of mountain view management. Charlie Hamm had been the owner of MVM for at least a decade, a decade I call Apartment Hell. He is a sadist, he enjoyed telling tenants that repairs would be made immediately and then would refuse to send a repairman to fix the problems. When I would see him the next month and ask why nothing was done he would lie. And he would smile as he was lying. There are a lot of people in Tahoe who have had the distinct displeasure of having to deal with Charlie Hamm. I am not sure if it is local legend or true, but it is told that of all the property managers in Tahoe he was no. 1 in lawsuits filed by tenants. He reminds me of someone who takes pleasure in pulling wings off a fly. A sick, sick man. I can truthfully say I have never met such a demented human being like him during my lifetime - a thoroughly disgusting example of a man. I truly, fervently pray that someday he will have to deal with someone who is at least as big an a'hole that Charlie is (if that is possible).I wonder why the new owners would find it necessary to make up the two glowing reviews of MVM - what are they so afraid of. Maybe worried that Charlie's karma will continue in the office? Go to hell Charlie Hamm and may the rest of your life be just as miserable as you have wished upon your tenants. New owners=GREAT experience. 9/3/2008

I recently went through Mountain View to rent a home and I have to say my experience was much different than the ones displayed below... I even spoke with the new owner directly and thought she was beyond helpful and courteous. I understand that the previous property manager, Charlie, is no longer with the company and they have a new one. They were quick and found a perfect place for me and my dog at a great price. I HIGHLY reccommend MVM. more

Mountain View Management in South Lake Tahoe is Horrible! Avoid Charlie and his insults. 11/13/2007

This is my first time message. Mountain View Management is horrible! Charlie, the rude, unprofessional ""property manager"" is something else! He must love his power trip of a job, constantly denying people for rentals. He will not make eye contact with you, especially when he is trying to do a subtle job of offending you. He literally laughed at some of my serious questions! He could care less about me as a person. All he sees when a customer walks in is someone who is inferior to him because they need housing. He causally talks on the phone while customers physically wait in the office for him. He says things ""like, the decision is up to me who gets the house"" when everyone knows it is up to the property owner! Honestly, unless your credit score is 830 and you like messing with complete and total dickheads, do not waste your time. He plays the quantity game with applications instead of the quality game. Charlie is a true piece of Shi*! He will waste your time just like mine. Do not give your business to them as a property owner or a potential renter. His unprofessionalism is truly amazing! He treats you like the low-life he is! Pros: Charlie will eventually die! Cons: he is still alive denying good people homes! more

Mountain View Management 10/18/2007

I just want to warn anybody who is considering renting an apartment in South Lake not to go to Mountain View Management. They are complete dickheads. I was trying to get an apartment 2 weeks ago and the manager (Charlie) told me it was available that day. I've been calling him everyday since then and he keeps telling me he hasn't got to my application yet. We also went in at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon to get the key to show the apartment to my mom, who was visting from out of town and he said ""I dont give keys out this late I'm getting out of here at 4:30 today, it's Friday."" It would have taken us 20min. tops to check it out! I talked to him again yesterday and he said ""well, the owner has decided to take my advice and take all the furniture out and do a 12 month lease on it"" Thanks alot dickhead I could have been looking for other places this whole time! more
