The reviews for this establishment are strange to say the least.
We live in the Bay Area and have owned a condo in Tahoe for eight years. We chose MVM because they are located right next door to our condominium complex on Sandy Way in South Lake Tahoe. We signed a contract with this company in September 08 and so far our experience with them has been terrible.
Tenants moved into our unit on January 9, 09. When we received our first check at the end of January we were shorted $125 because MVM made a mistake and charged us twice for cleaning. We still haven't received the money.
Proceeds (the owner's portion of the rent) is supposed to be sent out on the 5th of each month, we are still waiting for our February 09 rent and the $125 from January (today is March 3, 2009).
This company was acquired by Heather in January 08. Pat is her employee/property mgr. It's a very small company which employs three to four at most. Heather and Pat make a good first impression because they are very nice, eloquent and dress professionally but it stops there. Most of the time we get a voicemail greeting and have to leave a message when we call in. Half of the time our calls are never returned(even when we leave messages with a live person). We have had to call them several times and every time they have a different story about why the rent has not been sent out ? Heather is on vacation, putting the check in the mail today, etc. It sounds like this company might be in financial trouble. That's the only logical excuse I can come up with anyway. If you own a property and are looking for a good property management company BE CAREFUL. Do not use this one. If they improve I will be back to update this review but at this point that doesn't seem very likely.
UPDATE 7/13/09 - We had to kick the tenants out after four months because of loud partys. The company did not screen the tenants well. Our place was left filthy and trashed. We have fired this company. They shorted us our rent proceeds in April and we are still waiting for the money (it's been over 3 months now). We are out $175 because we needed to have the place professionally cleaned ourselves and additional money because we need to repair all the damages to our unit. I am filing a complaint with the BB Bureau and intend to take legal action against this business.
