Great Value, Quick Turnaround, and Great Customer Service 11/17/2009

Needed my laptop fixed quick. I had papers to write and final exams to cram for at the end of last semester. Mike took care of everything. Had my computer back in time to get my papers done and ace my exams. Could not have been more pleased. And what I payed was more than fair. Pros: Quick, friendly, and they know what they're doing more

Quickest and Best Value In Computer Repair 11/17/2009

My Computer was broken for at least two weeks before i got it fixed because every time i went into a computer repair store they would just tell me it was my mother board and say i needed a new computer or they wanted WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!!! to fix it. Well one day on my way to work i stopped by Mit Computers on Fowler Ave and spoke to a gentlemen named Michael Higgins. He Greeted in a professional manner but with a sense of friendship like we had already met before. He diagnosed my computer and quoted me a very good price. I decided to go ahead and get it fixed and my computer was ready to go soon there after. Since then i take all my computers to Mit no questions. If you need computer repairs go see Michael Higgins at Mit Computers on Fowler. Pros: Best Experience in The Computer Business more

Best Computer Store in town. 11/17/2009

Employees here are absolutely amazing. The manager, Mike, took the time to explain to me what they would be doing to repair my computer and was very patient when answering the many questions I had. Pros: Awesome customer Service. more

Great Experience 11/13/2009

I've read all of the reviews posted, and I am happy to say that I had a great experience with MIT. The staff were professional and easy to access via phone. All interactions were documented on my receipt and I did not have to repeat myself with each call. The turn around time was good and they were more than wiling to go the x-tra mile to make me happy. I highly recommend this store. Pros: friendly sales associates and prompt service more

Great company doing great business! 10/21/2009

My computer recently got a virus and as a small business owner, I needed it working again quickly. I, mistakenly, took it to Best Buy where they charged me $80 just to look at it and say ""yep, it has a virus"" and then told me it would be $129 to fix it and an additional $99 to backup my data. That didn't even include installing my office programs or anything else. They wanted another $40 just to install Microsoft Office! Needless to say, I was pretty upset that a virus was going to cost me that much. On my way home, I saw the large banner for ""Free Diagnostics"" at MIT Computers and figured I could at least have them give me a quote. I brought it in and they told me there was definitely a virus but they wanted to test all my hardware to make sure I didn't have any other problems, and this was all free! They told me the free diagnostic would take 4-5 days but I opted to use their ""24 hour service"" which was only $40 compared to Best Buy's $80 regular service fee. Just a few hours later, Mike, the company's manager, gave me a call and said he could reinstall my Windows XP, backup my data, physically clean the computer (it was pretty rough looking as I tend to use my computer a lot), and install my office program for $200 and it would be ready the next day! WOW! I waited 1 week for Best Buy to tell me it would be almost $300 in addition to the $80 I already paid and MIT was not only able to diagnose it in under a day, but get it fixed for $100 less! This is a great company and I will be sure to recommend them to everyone. Their employees are polite, well informed, and have degrees in the industry. For the service and the price, I can't think of a better place to get your computer repaired. Thanks again guys! Pros: Complete repair at a cheaper price! more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY-THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS 9/29/2009

As a business owner, I thought I would help support a local business rather than go to a megastore for a simple purchase of a new video card; wow, what a MITAKE on my part!! First of all, he tried to feed me a lot of misinformation, suggesting I needed a new motherboard (to replace my 5 month old, pretty much loaded Dell Vostro). What he didn't know, is that I know enough about computers that I knew he was full of it. After having to have a conversation with my company's IT guy, it was determined that MIT had what I needed, a PCI video card with a DVI output, $59.99. I knew it was overpriced but again, wanted to support a local business, and I was already there. Again, mistake on my part. After spending 2 hours trying to get this card to work in anything but standard VGA mode (the manufacturer had no Win 7 drivers for this model card) I gave up. I then looked at the documentation which said it would be compatible with Windows XP (when available). NOT ONLY DID THEY OVERCHARGE ME, THEY SOLD ME A 9 YEAR OLD PRODUCT!! This morning, I returned it and was informed I would be charged a 15% restocking fee and was promptly chided for my displeasure by the sales associate (the same person that told me I needed a new motherboard) by informing me that he didn't have to take it back at all!!! Really?? Well, I don't have to patronize you. After talking to my IT department to start spreading the word about this disreputable business, I found out that my company's IT department does business with the Fowler Ave store (that was until today). By the way, I bought a NEW video card at Staples, came home, installed it, turned on my computer, and voila, it worked. I will never get those 2 hours back. I told everyone I spoke to at Staples about my experience and interestingly, the sales associate had a bad experience with these people as well. Hmmm, pattern perhaps? I am not one to post a review, have never even done it before but the word needs to get out about this disreputable business. I want the word out because the average person will not know that they are being lied to in an attempt to make more money. These are the people with the guy on BBD blvd hold a sign offering a free computer checkup. I guarantee you, there WILL be something wrong with your computer and it will cost you more money than it needs to. THESE PEOPLE ARE DISHONEST AND OPPORTUNISTIC. DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. GO TO SOMEONE REPUTABLE. Cons: TOO MANY TO LIST more

Bad Service - Citrus Park Branch 7/8/2009

Took in computer disabled by power surge, did free diagnosic and said mother board gone. Got a new computer and took it in for them to transfer what they could from the old computer...took 5 days. Picked up the computer and found that all the files they transferred were locked in some kind of bookmark file. They also used up every free access to our 60 day free trial of Microsoft Office for word and excell. We are still trying to get them to send someone out to our home since we are not taking it back to them. Pros: they seem really nice in the store and very willing to help Cons: poor work, can't reach them by phone more

Avoid this place they are crooks 3/14/2009

I took my laptop into these guys and they told me it needed a new motherboard and the cost was over $450. I said no and went thru a huge hassle to get my laptop back. Then I took my laptop to another local computer store and they told me it only needed a new internal power connector and the cost to fix was around $100. The only reason I went to MIT in the first place is because they had a huge banner saying free diagnostic, but then when I went in there they said no the free diag is only for desktops and for laptops they charge $59. I should have turned around and left on the spot but stupidly I gave my laptops to these people anyway. I learned my lesson, if a company lies or gives misleading information to get you in the door then you cannot expect they will be honest with you about anything else. Pros: None Cons: They are incompetent, rude and they will rip you off more
