Michael Phillip Studio

I found my way back to this salon after being gone far too long. I had previously gone to another salon due to a move and was just not happy with the outcome of my ""highlights"" and my ""layers"". \r Phil was my stylist and took my less than technical description of what I wanted and turned it into a vision without me feeling lost or overwhelmed. My too thin, too blond highlights were turned into a gorgeous warm brunette color (and somehow with new amazing highlights!) and my cut is unlike any other I have had. I have a full head of straight, fine hair and he miraculously manipulated it to have body, depth, and texture...and yet somehow it looks so natural! \r Best part? Excellent customer service. I did have a small wait (15-20 min) which I agreed to in order to help out another client in a crunch and I was kindly compensated for my time. In addition, I had left the salon forgetting that I wanted my eyebrows shaped and with one quick call they had my back in the seat and back out of the salon in under 5 minutes with great brows (and mine are not well behaved!). \r Overall, great experience, great color, great cut, great customer service. I've started getting my hair done by Mary Blomme at Phillip Michael studio after getting my hair done by the same hair stylist for almost 10 years. Needless to say, I had some anxiety about changing stylists. Well, let me tell you, Mary made the whole transition as painless as possible and she did such an amazing job with my cut and color, I haven't looked back. Every time I have left Mary's chair, I've felt nothing short of fabulous. She does a superb job with highlights and color and is meticulous applying foils. I was also super happy with the cut she gave me, my long layers have never looked better. I am super picky about my hair and color and I would recommend Mary without hesitation, she really takes the time to make you look great and for a good value as well. Go see Mary and you will not be disappointed! more

Go to Rebecca Murry! I have known Becca since we were in elementary school and I now refuse to go to any other stylist. Becca knows exactly what color and cut will work for you. She doesn't rush and wants everything to be perfect! She is an awesome person and stylist and I will continue to return to receive her services. I had the pleasure of having Becca as my hair stylist for my wedding. From the moment I sat in her chair, she made me feel comfortable in my ideas but even moreso in her ability and her suggestions. The trial went so well - she was so easy to work with and gave me exactly what I wanted that I couldn't exactly verbalize to her. On the day of my wedding, she showed up right on time, was so efficient with my bridesmaids and I, and recreated my look perfectly (actually better - even though I didn't think that was possible!). I have been been to a ridicules amount of stylists over the years and have never found one I wanted to return to until I met Becca at Michael Phillips. The first time I went she gave me suggestions for my long hair, and the results turned out awesome. I've never had a stylist before that I trusted to just take control of my hair with what they thought would be best, but whatever Becca suggests, I know will turn out better than I could ever imagine. She suggested color ideas for my next appointment and I cant wait to see what the results will look like. I will continue to recommend her to everyone I know. more

Before coming to Becca at Phillip Michael I jumped around from stylist to stylist. I couldn't be happier with Becca. I have depended on Phillip to highlight and cut my hair for the past five years. Not only do my highlights always look natural, but the cut is always flattering. Phillip takes extra time to ensure that my hair looks perfect before I leave. While my hair is the primary reason for visiting Phillip, I have to say that he is also easy to talk to and kind. On at least three occasions, I have been in the chair when strangers have come in pleading for Phillip to fix mistakes that other stylists have made. Needless to say, they leave his studio filled with gratitude- and so do I. more

Before visiting Becca at Michael Phillip Studio I had been going to the same stylist for about 10 years. I was nervous about going to someone new, but after my first cut and color I never looked back. I'm usually pretty nervous to try new things with my hair, but I feel confident giving Becca creative license with both my cut and my color . When she offers suggestions to change up my look, they end up turning out great. Becca is very passionate about what she does and it definitely shows. The colorist Becca at Micheal Phillip studio is excellent. She consults carefully and then does an amazing job on your hair. Becca is very particular about the products she uses. I walked into the salon, new to Baltimore and stood up by a different hair salon. MP looked friendly and they assigned Becca to do my color (not easy!!!) and cut.\r \r She by farrrrrrrrr...... gave me the the best service I have ever had. I have always gone to my neighborhood salon, just getting by with average hair cuts and color. Then I moved to Baltimore and a friend referred me to the Philip Michael Salon. and I fell in love. I have been seeing Rebecca Murry since early 2011 and refuse to go anywhere else. She makes great suggestions and is very skilled. She is also very connected and will text me with reminders the day before an appointment. I am always getting compliments on my hair. Even a few weeks after a touch-up, people say it looks so fresh. I also learn a new trick every time I go in, so I am always having fun with my hair when at home. I cannot praise this place enough!! more

Philip Michael's studio is the only place I got to get my hair done. Rebecca Murry is the best stylist I have ever been to. I refuse to go to any other stylist. I have recently lived to Richmond, San Diego, and Italy, and make sure to travel back to Maryland to get my hair done by Rebecca. She knows exactly what looks good for her customers. Phillip Michael Studio is the best by far! I've been to several salons in the Baltimore area (including other high-end places) and this far outranks all of the others. (I'm very picky about my hair and I have always been thrilled with my visits to this salon.) First - Phillip is a master of color and cut! I feel great when I leave and I know my hair looks fab! Second - Customer Service is something these folks take pride in. When I was pregnant, Phillip let me take a break to eat (I had a late appointment). When I called to make an appointment when the bebe was only 6 weeks, he said ""Bring her along!"". He said there was space to feed her if necessary (and it was!). He was very accommodating and I never felt guilty for bringing her there. Third - The atmosphere is laid back. Conversation never feels forced (I hate when stylists feel like they need to fill quite.) Fourth - Did I mention that Phillip is a master? Try it and you'll see why he's got all of these great reviews. more

\r I can not express enough how excellent this salon is. I was new in town and was in desperate need of a trim at very short notice. Phillip fitted me in and made my hair look fantastic!!\r The salon has a great ombience and his colleague Becca is great!\r I have since been back for highlights and color. I am nervous of hairdressers but Phillip really does listen to what you want, you never feel rushed. He has given me a confidence with my hair that I have not had before. more

I went to Phillip Michael for help with a seriously bad hair cut, where I found the wonderful Becca Murry. She is absolutely amazing. She turned my dreadful haircut into the best haircut I have ever had. I have never been more happy with a salon in my life. She knows what she is doing, and makes you look wonderful. I even took my 4yr old daughter there, because I knew I could trust her. My daughter is so in love with what Becca did that I have to take pictures of her everyday, so she can see her beautiful haircut. Can't wait to go back! more

Philip Michael's studio is what the best of Baltimore has to offer. Philip worked me into his schedule when I couldn't stand the results from my one-week old hair coloring (from an expensive, well known salon). He listened to my concerns and WROTE DOWN what I wanted. He offered his professional opinion, which was opposite of what I just got. I wanted streaks that weren't too wide but were obvious, and I didn't want ""warm"" as the undertone - that made me looked totally washed out. I also didn't want my hair to look ""natural"". He gave me the perfect color and trim to make my hair look sexy and swing when I moved my head. I got a ton of compliments and loved it. I waited until my second appointment (New year's eve, 2010) to ensure that he was as good as I hoped. He is. He looked at my card and didn't just jump in; we talked more and he ensured that we both were on the same page. Amazingly I liked my hair even more this time. Besides being an artist, he is a wonderful person and very welcoming; you get to know him and he you. Philip is a humanist and speaks lovingly of his wife and baby. Awesome to have a great hair stylist and admiral person all rolled into one. I feel blessed to have read other comments and to have taken the leap. more

I get my hair cut and colored at Phillip Michael Studio once every month or two by Rebecca, and have never been disappointed! I even live about 40 minutes away, but haven't gone anywhere else since I started coming here, because there's no reason to! I usually bring in a picture of the general idea that I have, and Rebecca always knows exactly what to do. Sometimes it turns out even better than what I pictured. She is great with color and does excellent highlights and lowlights. more
