I've traveled a ton, and this was without a doubt, by far the worst experience I've had. We paid (too much) for our flight 6 months in advance, and the day before we left, we still didn't have our flight numbers. When we called (again!) to get them, we were told our flight was cancelled. After the entire day on the phone, we did get another flight, but not to where we wanted to go. We ended up in Sao Paulo instead of in the Amazon. It was horrible. And we paid almost $1700 each to do it! Unbelievable. I really don't know how this agency continues to survive. Please don't give them any business - you'll pay way too much and possibly not even get the trip you want. Terrible. Cons: no communication, rude, didn't get what we paid for more

We were five students trying to go to europe on a budget, Mercury Travel gave us the best economical priced Tickets . Other agencies we had been trying for almost a month gave us very high prices & besides the phone calls were never returned. Expedia kept on changing the price (double) at the last screen of transactions. At least we got reservations via email & Etickts were issued accordingly ........good people more

When making travel plans, I would NOT recommend the use of this agency. I had seen the ad in the Chicago Tribune for CHEAP tickets and the price quoted for airfare to Australia was indeed a good price, but I could never get the price verified in writing. Though I NEVER confirmed the reservation, I was told that by providing the information that was needed for international travel, I had in fact confirmed a reservation without anything in writing what the final price (tax and surcharges) would be. I received notification of a reservation (from offices in Atlanta, Georgia) which indicated that I would need to pay a $695 charge on these non-refundable tickets (which I had never authorized). The service from the manager I spoke with was very rude, in fact, he hung up on me. Through many phone calls and much angst, I was able to get them to issue a cancellation (I think the term fraud helped). We had an emergency to see our Ailing relative in Europe & had to fly within few days. We called several travel agencies but the Air Tickets were Very high & we went on line of orbitz , expedia etc but could not find any thing cheap as they ""CLAIM"" . Finallly, we called Mercury Travel consultants they stated if we were flexible with our dates, they can keep looking & call us back . Kathy , was very prompt friendly & worked with us & gave the follow -ups each time . We were not only able to save a bundle, but got a great schedule on Non-stop flight & saw our family .Great service ....& good people Pros: great savings Cons: Must be flexible on dates more

I wish I could offer you a great recommendation. However, that is hard to do when you're talking about Mercury Travel. You see, if part of the travel experience is being scammed, maybe this would be a better review. But generally I associate scams with being pick-pocketed at busy European train stations... not by your own travel agent! Pros: Get scammed without ever leaving the country. This travel agent cannot be trusted. They always changed the price, never sent me a confirmation email, and NEVER ACTUALLY PURCHASED MY TICKET. The story changed every time I called them. more

I take trips all over the country with students ages 14-18. This has been the worst experience of my 18 year career. We are taking a missions trip to rio de janeiro, brazil and we thought this company would help us in negotiating fare prices with all airlines. What went wrong... no locked in pricing, they will estimate a price and then not tell you of thier price they have negotiated with airline to pad thier profit line. They will change your times of departure and arrivals drastically. As of today, we are at a 10 hour difference in departure. Not Good when we coordinate large groups of people with 40 different schedules. They have poor customer service and will tell you anything on the phone to make you hang up first and claim we are at fault for ending communication over time sensitive issues. Their finace dept does not communicate well with sales dept. We have lost a $39K check due to thier negligence. Please go somewhere else for your travel needs. Pros: none. I was looking for a travel deal over the holidays, I checked online and through the some local travel agencies. They had the best priced gave me a confirmation number, or what I thoght was a confirmation number (it was not valid and it was fake). When I called I spoke to a nice woman who told me she would take care of the trip and she did get at least the reservation in the airline systems. The problem was with the owner of the establishment. He was totally rude and threatning, he has no manners what so ever and should not be in Travel business whatsoever. I would not recommend this business to anyone because they never have the tickets that they quoted with you at the first place, maybe it is a scam, not sure but it sure felt like it. we had called several agencies and ofcurse went on line with expedia and orbits for our family trip to rome and paris.We were not only getting higher prices , but there was no way to get hold of them, i dont feel comfortable, like giving my crdit card over the internet and besides dont even know, what airline we were flying on. So we contacted Mercury consultants not only they beat the fares but also we recieved faxes , calls and actual tickts vis fedex. In fact after issuing my daughters tickets we realised her ldates had to be changed , mercury staff really helped us change her dates and reissued the new tickets ... expedia tickets are non changeable , we had to pay twice for her tickets ,,,,, we came back and now we going to sydney on united ...with savings from MERCURY TRAVEL CONSULTANTS ....
