Editorial review from Citysearch 7/13/2012

Very thorough board certified internists, excellent customer service, convenient locations and most services available without leaving the building more

Dr. Lahoti is the best 1/10/2012

After 7 years and 5 different GI doctors, Dr. Lahoti discovered that I had akalasia after just two diagnostic tests. He suggested an excellent surgeon and I can finally live a normal life. The staff at MCH are always polite and helpful. It is also nice not to have to fight traffic in the middle of the medical center to get there. more

Pointless procedures and overcharge 8/2/2011

Went to this clinic for follow up care following a heart attack and stent placement. The hospital records, which I gave the clinic a copy of, reported that I was still left with blockages of 80% and 95%. The doctor took me off the nitrate that was prescribed by the hospital which seems a bit rash in retrospect. A year after the heart attack the cardiologist suggested a Nuclear Stress test to check for blockages. Since I already knew I had 2 good size ones I probably shouldn't have bothered but he talked me into it. They estimated my share of the charges at $550. Should have been $178. Took me 7 weeks to talk them into ""starting the refund process"" which takes another 4-6 weeks. The nuclear stress test identified no blockages, not even the ones identified by the prior surgery, so I am fine right? 6 weeks later I went to the ER with chronic chest pains and had to have stents put in the old blockages. Makes me wonder if they even looked at the results. more

pushy doctor 3/1/2011

Some colleagues at Texas Medical Center recommended this place. Saw an internist there for bursitis of R hip, he keeps on pushing for steroid injection, even though standard of care initially is for NSAID and muscle strengthening. It is obvious to me, as a medical professional, that he is trying to make money doing procedure. I never went back to the clinic. I concur that this clinic is selling only the location and the name. It embodies everything that is despicably wrong with the american health system. more

Reviews on Medical Clinic of Houston ??? 9/5/2010

About a year ago a new Internal Med doctor set up practice there. Hubby saw him and this doctor (Male) was great. He called the home to see how hubby was doing. He even asked how I was as we both were almost dying from swine flu and hubby got a relaspe from it and had trouble breathing. The doctor has 2 nurses? (not sure they are nurses) but both are good but one is exceptional. What puzzles me is this clinic does not take Aetna Health Insurance...not even a PPO. \r We are Medicare abd BC/BS. Everyone we know has Aetna so we cannot recommend this clinic to them. more

Lack of integrity at Medical Clinic of Houston 5/27/2010

In addition to the Medical Clinic of Houston having lost one of my front teeth during an EGD performed by Dr. Aparna Kulkarni at the Medical Center Endoscopy, which due to the status of the tooth will cost close to $5,000.00 to replace, the Clinic is making me pay $94.00 to transfer my medical records to my new physician. This is the quality of service and responsible reaction to be expected of the Clinic and its doctors. The tooth was found missing as soon as I woke up from the anesthesia. The personnel looked for it before my leaving. I checked consecutive stools for several days and X-rays were performed to make sure it had not lodged somewhere along the digestive tract. I cannot be a patient of an organization that does not accept responsibility for its actions. My primary care physician, Dr. Karen Hoermann, never responded to my complaint. Cons: Lack of integrity more

Worst heathcare provider I have ever used 3/15/2010

I moved to Houston in 2003. Since then I have used the Medical Clinic of Houston. Over the years I have felt the doctors becoming less interested in treating patients and more interested in big pharmaceutical. Rather than being prescribed generic anti-biotics my doctor proscribed me with $70 pills.. I changed to a new doctor within the clinic, which was also a mistake. I should have stopped going long ago, but being a creature of habit and rather busy I didn't. For the last 6 months I have been trying to get the claims department to re-file a claim which they coded incorrectly. Not only are the staff rude, they are useless. I am looking into what recourse I can take against them now seeing as they continue to waste my time. I would never recommend going here, especially given the array of qualified and professional health care providers Houston has to offer. I should also say that I never leave comments, but my treatment here has been SO bad that I cannot stand the thought of someone else dealing with this place. more

Horrible Clinic 1/19/2010

I've been going to Dr. Ann Radcliffe for a year. Changing immediately. When I need her she never calls back, her staff has hung up on me, they get messages wrong time after time. She obiviously needs to PAY for her new building as she won't give you one apt to cover everything but wants you to come back again and again for all kinds of things just to get money from Insurance company . Freaky nurse with Orange spiked hair gets everything wrong and is rude, Dr. stays in room for 5 minutes then disappears forever and you have to deal with freaky nurse and rude asst who hangs up on you. DON""T GO THERE. BAD PRACTICE! Cons: phone calls not returned and staff is rude . . . more

Dr. Karen Hoermann 9/28/2009

Dr. Hoermann is an uncaring, rude physician who should not be allowed to practice medicine. The clinic personnel are great, but she does not want you to challenge any medication that she prescribes, even if it makes you ill. She will write you a certified letter telling you that she will no longer treat you and you are not allowed to return to the clinic. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Cons: Extremely Rude more

Watch Out! 4/30/2009

I went in to the clinic for a routine visit and the doctor told me he was going to run a few routine lab tests (have had this in the past from other doctors). Hundreds of dollars were billed to my insurance. The clinic billed me the difference and after talking to my insurance it seems the clinic bundle coded procedures and basically are trying to get as much money as possible. I have great insurance and in 5 years have never had to pay anything. I didn't even need all these ridiculous tests . I am in my 20s!!! Watch out. They will try to make money where ever they can- maybe to pay for the brand new building!!!!!! I am not sure if they truly care about what is best for the patient... Cons: Money Hungry more

Absolutely the Best Medical Care in the Country 1/30/2009

I currently see 2 doctors at Medical Clinic of Houston - JOHN F. EICHELBERGER, M.D. & ERIC H. BERNICKER, M.D. I have patronized the clinic for over 15 years and seen several of the clinic physicians. I have always been treated in a very warm and respectful manner. The Nurses are first rate, very caring, knowledgeable and professional. The doctors listen, they genuinely care about you and they are on the cutting edge of what health care should be. I will never go anyplace else. If you want the best health providers in the country you want Medical Clinic of Houston. Pros: Cutting edge diagnostics, labs, x-ray, catscan,MRI, EKG on site. truly all in one, first class facility Cons: Used to be parking but they fixed that!!! more

Poor Communication may jepordise patient care! 6/17/2008

My experience with Dr. Hoerman the last few years has been ok, however the staff is RUDE from the receptionist to the nurses. GOOK LUCK trying to get any test results, or scheduling an appointment etc... You ALWAYS have to leave a voice mail, never a live person, and it takes days before you can get any progress, because GOD FORBID you miss their return call, then you're playing phone tag for days!\r I tried to transfer my files to another staff doctor to see if better communication. I needed to get in promptly for a pressing health concern, and now a week and a day later, still haven't head back from anyone. When I just called to follow up, just excuses - the Doctor was out Friday and Monday - well I called the Monday prior! Still trying to get in to see someone, however at this point I've concluded this place is growing too quickly and the staff and doctors seem to have too HEAVY of patient loads which creates problems with staff friendliness, prompt communication, and frankly good care. If they are that busy, could they miss something in the care of the patient? It concerns me, I'd look eslewhere to a better ran facility. Pros: Convenient location Cons: Too heavy patient load, rude staff and nurses, horrible communication for test results and scheduling appointments more

Best Diagnostic Physician in Texas 1/16/2008

The best medical care I have ever received. A friend recommended Dr. Magid. He had previously taken his mother to this physician. Dr. Magid spent a lot of time with me. He did not rush me out of his office. He asked many thorough questions. He genuinely seemed concerned and was obviously interested in actually diagnosing the problem instead of just prescribing unnecessary medication. He is now my primary care provider. I highly recommend this physician. \r Pros: Willing to listen to and spend time with his patients. more
