This is the best steak I have ever had anywhere in the world, bar none! The service is sensational, presentation perfect, and the steaks are so sweet and flavorful they melt in your mouth. Mastro's is located in fashionable Bevery Hills right next door to Spago. Try the bone-in ribeye and request a table in the quieter and more romantic wine room. This place has so much class, they have even called the next day to thank us for our business!!! Pros: delicious, chic & trendy, first class more

Went last Friday to celebrate a birthday. Made last minute reservations without a problem. The ambience was fantastic, and the service phenomenal. But the best part was the food! The steak was perfect and very well prepared. The portions for sides and salads are ideal for sharing. Some of the clientele was questionable or annoying. You sit quite close to the next table. Pros: Food, Service, Style more

Horrible experience 7/12/2004

Though dinner reservations were made way in advance for this special occasion, we were greetd by a frustrated Host, who was yelling at the Hostesses, and could not find our reservation since he could not read his own writing. We were finally given the table right next to the kitchen. Though we politely requested a change of table (about 8 vacant at the time), the host refused to accomodate us. The romantic dinner we had planned turned into the kitchen noise and smells... NOT RECOMMENDED. Cons: , Unaccomodating, Major attitude proble more

Great Food, Very Expensive 6/26/2004

The average steak price on the menu was about $40, however they were huge, about 20oz. The appetizers and sides were also very pricey, about $8-$15 each(seafood $15). The scallops, which came in 3 small pieces were only ok. The lobster was also sub par. Tomato-steak onion salad cost $7.50 and litterally came with 4 half inch slices of tomatos and 3 half inch slices of onions stacked on top of each other. Their bread is very good, especially since they have a variety of them. I had a bone in ribeye steak, and it was huge and very delicious, however a little better than your upperclass steak house. For the sides I highly recommend the sweet potato fries, mashed potatos, and the sauted muchrooms. After everything, each person spent about $80. If you have the money, I say go for it. If you don't, you're not missing too much. Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Very Nice Place more

The Best 6/24/2004

I have eaten here and at Mortons. There is no comparison. The steak itself is only slightly better than Mortons (although it is certainly better, and steak can only be cooked so perfectly). The real seperation between the two comes from the sides, the service and the atmosphere. At Mastro's your waited on hand and foot, your drink is never empty, and the waiter is always attentive. The atmosphere and people are upscale, loud and fun (upstairs). Morton's feels like a Black Angus with better steak Pros: Steak, Service, Steak! more

The best around! 5/19/2004

Better than any other steakhouse in the city. Period. Not only the steaks are top shelf, but the prime rib, fish et al. When you go, you have to try the Sautéed shrimp appetizer. To die for. It's like a mix between a bruschetta/sauteed shrimp. The baked potato is out of this world as well. Some say it's a little noisy, but who cares it's L.A....get loud! Give yourself some extra time to make a reservation, they're pretty busy. Don't buy the 5pm or 10pm availability for reservations only. Throw some of your weight around (even if you don't have any) and get your preferred time. REMEMBER: "Act as if" and you'll get the time you want. When you come by, stop by the cigar patio upstairs and say him to Diggy_dom. Pros: Food, Eye Candy, Location Cons: , none, none more

Wonderful Experience 2/26/2004

All the anticipation; all the hype - it lived up to it's expectation. The appetizers we ordered - sea scallops & crab cakes were superb. "Greatest crab cakes I've ever had," was a comment from one of our guests. And coming from that particular person was a really suprising. She has dined in some of the finest restaurants around the world. The food came sizzling to our tables and the aroma of the meat and juices filled the air. One word for the food "YUMMI!!!!". The service was excellent! The atmosphere of the place seemed electrically charged because you just felt good being there. Even after an hour drive through heavy traffic and heavy rain - you felt good being there. Next time we have to try upstairs because it was packed downstairs and noise levels were bearable but loud. It get's the CHIA 2 thumbs up! Pros: Food, Service more

THE BEST STEAKHOUSE!!! 2/10/2004

I read the one negative comment and I think he is out of his mind. I have been in several countries and great restaurants throughout the world. Mastro's by far is the overall best steakhouse ever. The food preparation, portion and service is excellent. Morton's, Ruth Chris, Fleming's, Houston's, Roy's and many other great restaurants does not compare to the quality and preparation of Mastro's Steakhouse Steaks, Lobsters and other great entries. It is very expensive but in this case you get what you're paying for. Sincerely, Mark Balelo more
