My friend found a pit/dobie mix on the street and adopted him.  He was covered in old bite marks and you could see in his ripped ear, eyelid, and tounge tip that he had gotten che...

We also spent a great deal of money for our dog to be trained. What a waste, no guarantees and the staff was rude. Buyer Beware. Pros: None

Wonderful with my two pugs 4/9/2008

I took my two pugs there for training. They did a wonderful job with them. Their front office staff were very professional and courteous. The trainer we had was very knowledgable about training all breeds of dogs. He also was very patient with me as a student. I would highly recommend Man's Best Friend to all my friends and family. more

Horrible 4/9/2008

Rip off, they charge way too much for nothing. I agree with all the reviews except the one below me. This person either works there or is personally friends with someone who works there. No one in their right mind would give this place that good of a review, and yes, I have used their services. Pros: none Cons: everything more

Use them exclusively - they love dogs!! 4/8/2008

I have been using Man's Best Friend for more than 15 years and have never had anything but excellent service. They have gone out of their way to provide care for any and all of the dogs I have taken to them over the years. I've purchased dogs from them, had dogs trained by them, groomed by them and have boarded my dogs there. At no time have I ever had a problem or been disappointed. They have consistently gone out of their way to be certain my requests and my animals needs were met. My pets have always been happy to go there - they especially love Brenda - and are always happy & healthy when I pick them up. They have excellent trainers. I have found that if I follow up on the training and abide by the instructions they give you when you get your dog back, the training works. If, however, you - the owner - do not follow the training protocol, your pet will go right back to the same old habits. It's nature...newly learned behaviors have to be reinforced or they will be 'un-learned' in a heartbeat. They DO NOT physically abuse any anlmal when they train them. We just picked up our two new Goldendoodles from their training & they LOVED their trainer (Cindy). My husband took them back for their first follow-up appointment and they were so excited to see her he couldn't control them. Is this the response of a puupy who's been mistreated during training? I don't think so. I have recommended and continue to recommend Man's Best Friend to everyone. They operate a first rate facility and hold to the highest standards. My dogs reveiws are the ones that really count & they love Man's Best Friend. Pros: Excellent service. Caring staff. First rate facility. more

A lot of money for nothing. 2/25/2008

We took our little dog there for an "evaluation". The trainer didn't even look at the dog. He then talked us into a training package (I know my fault) of $1,300 and took our dog for two hart breaking weeks. Also be warned that while they have your dog they charge you for all kinds of little extras that you will feel guilty not to buy (a bed, treats, play time) these add up fast. When we got our dog back she barely knew three commands (the trainer got the dog to do them she still won't do them for me). We we're also told in order to keep her from digging, "don't let her outside when your not there" and to keep her from chewing, "put her in a crate". This is all advise I could of got from a book for about $1,300 less. Then they told me I needed to spend another $150-$200 on a shock collar or as they call it an "Easy Button"! My dog has been back for 2 days now she is not as playful as she used to be she is timid especially for a 10 month old puppy and she doesn't come to us when she's called now. I have to go to training sessions every week now at their location, I hope this gets better. If it does I will make sure to change this, but so far not impressed at all. Hmm, the only three positive reviews came in the last week. I imagine there was a memo from their marketing department. Pros: Friendly Cons: Waste of money...lot of money more

Worst Boarding: Don't take your dog there 10/7/2007

I tried MBF for boarding this past weekend, going against my gut feeling. I went to pick up my dog and they brought me the wrong dog. My dog is a brown and white border collie, they brought me a black and white. After they finally found her(15 mins later)and with the help of a photo that I happened to have, she was scared to death. As we looked her over we found that she had been trimmed all over, her belly had been shaved. They require a bath after a 2 day stay, which we were expecting..not being groomed. The Mgr came out and looked over the grooming record and said that the groomer got the wrong name on the grooming record, the name was Mandy (ours is Brandi). They don't have a good system for keeping track of the dogs. MBF makes you fill out a card on your dog when you board with them, signing at the bottom that you agree to the services that has been indicated on the card, but then they can't follow them. They also make you indicate if anyone else can pick up your dog, but the person that brings you your dog doesn't even ask you for your name. When we were trying to find our dog we offered to go back and find her and were told we were not allowed to go back there.. what are we hiding?? I will NEVER take her there again and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone either. Pros: nothing good to say Cons: Couldn't find my dog, brought me the wrong dog, lost her bed, shaved her fur instead of just giving a bath more

Atrocious 1/23/2007

I cannot feel bad for the two earlier reviewers (they got off easy) ... I spent $4,300 to have three dogs trained!!! Not only were the dogs not trained - they came home barking incessantly and behaving far more aggressively than prior to their stay. We handed to "Man's Best Friend" three litter mates ... two puppies in one household and the third living in a separate household. When we returned two weeks later they had confused the two females and had attempted to send us home with the WRONG dog!!!! My 7 year old nephew was in tears when he heard his little puppy was being trained with a choke collar. Is it really necessary to "train" a seven pound puppy with a choke collar?! I think not! The cost was exorbitant ... the service completely ineffective and the management/ownership team denying any wrong doing. The owner of the company offered to "re-do" the training ... NOT IN A MILLION YEARS would I subject my dogs to this training!!!! Pros: ... Still thinking ... Cons: Don't get me started!!!! more

Waste of money for training 1/18/2006

My husband and I spent $2200 for our two dogs on intensive in house training. In the two weeks our chief concerns weren't even addressed. We left our dogs for an additional week, and they still would not obey the commands at home. They use choke collars, and are very physically aggressive with them. There is no guarantee at all, and we feel like we completely wasted our money. I would not recommend! more
