I just called to pay-off an account. I am a professional with highly developed personable skills. I was surprised when the operator made a grand effort to speak to me in a condescending manner and intentionally hung up on me. If you are considering doing business with MLeonard and Associates please think twice about it. This woman represents your organization. Please consider placing someone like her on a Personnel Improvement Plan and inform her everyone deserves to be treated dignity. more

back ground....i have never been late for any payment EVER....\r \r i recieved a collections bill 6 weeks ago...my wife called and dealt with nick at m leonard..it turned out to be a mix up with our insurance company. she contacted the insurance company , re contacted nick and settled everything in writing through faxes.\r \r \r a few days ago nick (who i had never talked to) called me and said, ""you owe $$$, would you like to pay by debit or credit card.""\r \r i told him there was a mix up and this was already taken care of. he told me nothing was taken care of and i needed to pay. i hung up the phone with no further conversation.\r \r nick called my wife and told her to pay a much smaller dollar amount. he told her the insurance payed a large portion of the bill but the copay and interest was still outstanding.\r \r In a matter of seconds from the time i hung up on him until the time he talked to my wife the dollar amount changed considerably.\r \r hmmmmmm......fishy.....i think it stinks on ice.....\r \r i called and spoke to a supervisor by the name of christina. i told her i thought it was fishy that he never told me there was something wrong with the faxes/paperwork/insurance that my wife had sent 4 weeks ago. seconds later when he spoke to my wife he said the insurance carrier covered their end and we need to pay the interest and copay.\r \r she explained the paperwork takes time to update and the paper work dated almost a month ago was updated as he was talking to my wife (uhhhhhhh yea right). she also rudely explained to me if i would have payed my bills on time this wouldn't have happened. she asked if i thought i was being scammed by nick. i told her absolutely.\r \r i called the doctor's office who is trying to collect... the representative said they recieved payment from the insurance months ago and cancelled m leonard from collecting anything from us including the copay. WOW VERY INTERSTING\r \r my 1st question to nick is. why did you try to collect the full amount from me? 2nd question after your computers were updated why did you still try to collect the copay and interest from my wife?\r \r more

you can get help for dealing with abusive debt collectors 12/2/2011

this company is out of control and needs to be stopped there are laws to protect us the consumers...There are attorneys who specialize in this kind of law they will stop the harassing and embarrassing calls and make the debt collectors pay for their actions. I lost my job and was being harassed by this company and I found a great attorney.just look for an attorney who specializes in fair debt collections practices act cases. Christina is a B**** and needs a reality check!! She's threatenting to take my house and attach my wages at work for a medical bill, really???? I'm not as much of an idiot as she seems to think i am. My mother doesn't and never will speak to me like that and hang up, hell no!!!! She also made up an amount I said I was going to apy......ummm nice try crazy ass! I have every intention of paying the bill but I refuse to be talked to like that!!! She's probably single cause nobody would tolerate her!! more

After seeing a ""dispute"" claim on my credit report I called L&A to find out what it was for and was more than ready to pay if I was responsible for the oustanding charge; however, instead of helping me, the person on the line was extremely hostile & condescending. When I advised him that I was not aware of this dispute and that he needed to calm his tone he instead transferred me over to his manager, CHRISTINA SORENSEN. Ms. Sorenson was equally hostile and condescending. She kept referencing calls that were made to me and discussions that were had about my account which never even occured. I informed Ms. Sorenson that I did receive calls from a company in the past but that the person refused to identify themselves and to tell me what the matter was about. That was as far as any discussions went. Whatever call logs or records that they had was completely inaccurate. \r \r After reading everyone else's complaints (& I'm sure there are many more who didn't take the time to write an online review) it isextremely apparent Leonard & Associates needs to reevaluate their approach with people they claim owes them money. I refuse to pay a dime to a company that provides no information as to what the debt is for. I also will not be hussled by a**holes like CHRISTINA SORENSEN that try to cop an attitude & expect me to pay.\r \r CHRISTINA SORENSEN, or perhaps this is not even your real name, you're an idiot for thinking anyone would settle with you after the rediculous manner in which you treat people. more

Wow-- I cannot believe there are this many people who are being treated the same way! YELP this place, too! Sarah is TERRIBLE! She is so patronizing and treats people like they are deadbeats. I had moved around a few times last year, so I did not get my medical bill's final notice. In fact, when M. Leonard re-sent the collection notice, Sarah admitted that it was sent two weeks ago, but refused to give me thirty days from the day the letter was re-sent to my correct address. ""It's not my problem,"" she said. I've never been sent to collections, so I was asking questions to make sure I understood the process and what the charges were for. Sarah's job, I would think, would be to answer these questions. Instead, it's like I'm the one who should apologize from taking away her precious time from... open heart surgery? feeding hungry children? Nope-- just writing down people's credit card information. I'm sure it's a taxing job and requires quite a bit of analysis and high-level thinking. On the notice, it gave a man's name and an extension. When I asked to speak with him, she refused and said that he will not be back for a while. I asked when so I could call back (hoping to deal with someone more decent) and she said, ""He won't be back."" I tried to clarify, wondering if he literally no longer worked there or she was just trying to make things difficult. Then I decided that I just didn't care. I mean, if this place's tacit is to berate you into submission, then I guess it gets the job done. I paid just so I would never have to hear Sarah say my name ever again! It's just sad that a company like this exists and people like Sarah a) exist and b) have a stable paycheck. more

This Company should get closed down 4/20/2010

This ""Manager"" Sarah Nelson, kept making harrassing phone calls to my co-worker's work office number that she obtained through caller ID from a phone call that I made at my co-worker's desk one time, and instead of calling me by my cell phone or home phone as instructed, continued to keep hounding my co-worker by calling 5 more times in a row. My co-worker complained to my manager about why I'm getting personal phone calls on her line but I never gave Sarah that number to call. That is totally unprofessional to call someone else's work number. Now if they would hound the people who rear ended me so that they would settle the personal injury claim and pay the Chiropractor and hospital bills, instead of calling my co-worker, they'd get their money sooner. more

Boiler room bums 11/10/2009

I got a piece of junk mail from Leonard and his Associates over a debt that is near 30years old!! And the debt was begun in '80 with my first wife. Now think about it folks. They buy these useless pieces of paper for fifty bucks then set down at a local bar near the office and write up a bogus ""you owe this debt"" paper. If any fool ever pays a debt like this they should be horsewhipped. However, if lining their pockets with cocktail money is your motive, then have at it. As for me, I have been receiving mail like this for ten years. I never open them. I simply give them a burial in the circular trash can. Don't support old crack babies that have grown up and turned to mailing bad paper for collection! Cons: Lost in a glue factory of fumes more

Companies:\r Before you choose this agency for your business, read the reviews. Everything negative I have read here is true, and this agency will reflect badly on YOUR business for choosing them. There are far more professional companies you can go with.\r \r Consumers:\r The people who work there (Barbara - has been harassing people for 20+ years, and Sarah - the ""Manager"", are probably best friends, thus asking to speak to a Supervisor will do you no good. They are extremely unprofessional, uninformed, and rude. They are likely playing video games on their computers instead of listening to you, or caring about getting the issue resolved. When you request more information, they claim they will get it for you, but the next time you speak to them, you will find they have done nothing, and furthermore have reported you to the credit bureaus. When you ask why, they will ignore you, talk or yell over you, repeat what you already know over and over, and treat you like a deadbeat. I have a legitimate claim which they either refuse to investigate because they simply don't care, or they are incapable of understanding it, despite it being very simple. The original business that hired them, has already received the majority of what is due, however I have not paid the balance, because I am being billed incorrectly, NOT because I don't want to pay anything I owe. I will attempt to speak to the original business, but if they send me back to this horrible company, being run by incompetent, ignorant, uneducated people, with no manners, this situation will never be resolved, as I refuse to be treated this way by anyone.\r \r I am taking this time to alert the public because as someone else here said, these people are no better than street thugs.\r \r M. avoid these legal street thugs 7/30/2007

They were rude and not helpful in giving me vital information when I needed it, as it pertained to my being able to make an appointment with my dentist office (who put me in collections for an unpaid balance). The rep asked if I wanted to speak to the manager to clarify some things, and after putting me on hold for 7 minutes (in hopes that I would hang up), the manager started yelling that I should shut my mouth and listen, and "" I wouldn't have to deal with any of this if I paid my bill in the first place"". I told her that she does not honestly think that she can get away with saying that to people, and she told me ""we are not customer service"". Of course no one would ""recommend"" a collection agency, but if you happen to have an unfortunate circumstance (my husband was lost his job) that puts you at the mercy of the debt collectors, beware of this one. They are no better than street thugs. They are rude and clearly feel that they can make snap judgements about the people whose accounts that are placed in their agency.
