We brought my daughter's ipod touch 4th generation in because the screen was cracked. When we received it back after the repair, the round home button was crooked. I thought, ""Well, if it works, I guess it's ok, but not a very professional job."" When we got in the car to leave, my daughter noticed a small white spot under the screen but since it was working, did not tell me. Then she noticed that when she typed, other letters would type in, not what she was typing. She kept using it though and didn't tell me until 2 weeks later. By the time we took it back in, it wouldn't work at...wouldn't even turn on. The technicians told me that it had been damaged by us, that it had been struck with something. I disagreed and said something was wrong with how they fixed it. My daughter took extra care with it after breaking the screen the first time. We did not damage it in any way. The manager I spoke with insisted they did nothing wrong, that we damaged it. I even mentioned the crooked home button and he said that they move freely and if you push down on it, it would move back. Of course, it did not move. They don't move. It was installed incorrectly. And I believe the part they installed was faulty. But they refused to admit that and fix it. I have never given anyone a bad review before. But before you use this company, you should know that the Laptop Guys do not guarantee their parts. If they had, they would have fixed our ipod. So we spent over $80 for nothing. Very disappointed. more

Takes more than a week to diagnose. They did find the problem with the laptop. After receiving the call from them explaining what they found, it took about 2 days for them to just transport the laptop from their Gahanna office to the Polaris office. The estimate to repair (windows & driver installation) was way overpriced at $159. So opted to take the laptop without repairing after paying the $79 diagnostic fee. The next day I noticed the plastic cover which covers the RAM bay was broken at the edge. It looked like the damage could have occurred if someone yanked it open without care. more

Laptop and IPAD 2 Repair 3/28/2012

We had a very good experience with The Laptop Guy when my daughter's laptop screen was cracked. It was quick, easy and service was outstanding. Our IPAD 2 cracked several months ago after being dropped. Immediately, I knew I could go to the Laptop Guy because my experience was so positive before. The serviceman let me know exactly how long it would take and even helped me pick it up from a different location to get it back earlier. I really liked getting a phone call from The Laptop Guy representative letting me know the status of my repair and when it was available for pickup. I had a Groupon as well to save money on my repair, which made me even happier with the entire experience. I would highly recommend The Laptop Guy to anyone. They are knowledgable, dependable, quick and professional. more

iTouch repair 3/13/2012

My daughter dropped her new 4th gen iTouch a day after we got it and cracked the screen. I thought I was out another $200. After searching the web and calling around I found the Laptop Guy to easy to use and competitive. Turns out they did the job quicker than expected and everything was done right. Highly recommend - very knowledgeable, quick service and price was right! more

Fast & Efficient plus a groupon 2/28/2012

I had cracked my iphone screen and was questioning whether or not to purchase the repair kit myself and attempt to dyi it or beg a friend to deal with the hassle, but before I made a decision I wanted to check prices. The Laptop guy was the first to come up on a google search and I thought why not? They offered a free estimate so I gave it a shot....to my surprise I received a response email within 30 minutes, usually you wait a business day or two for just a response. And even better, it was clear and concise with the price upfront, parts labor and warranty. I was sold at the promptness and honesty. I replied with a question and got another quick email back and was offered an expired groupon discount! I took my phone in later that week to the Gahanna location and they told me that for 25 extra dollars I could have my phone back later the afternoon. Totally worth it and the service was great. I was scared this was going to be a 300 dollar expense with verizon or apple but it turned out to be quite reasonable and my phone is working like the day it came out of the box! Thank you more

Poor Troubleshooting 2/4/2012

GOOD – Although I was never able contacted the service manager on calls (many over the month they had my laptop) he always called back within a few hours. They could not fix my problem so they did not charge me a diagnosis fee.\r BAD: Had laptop about a month, could not fix my problem, rushed to a costly diagnosis without doing thorough troubleshooting steps, could never contact service manager on phone without leaving message for call back, took too long in evaluating different possible problems, did not use express delivery for part (e.g., overnight) to expedite repairs, apparent lack of urgency in fixing problem (should have kept at top of repair list but too much time between contact to show evidence of repair urgency on their end).\r SITUATION: My laptop screen did not work. I already replaced a couple of parts trying to fix the problem and before I spent more money on the next step (replace LCD cable), I took my laptop to the Laptop Guys thinking they would have diagnostic testing tools to validate a bad cable, replace it, and get it working. I even explained all steps I did/replaced and told the guy at the desk I believed the cable was bad. He estimated 2 weeks for repair. The service manager contacted me after a week (after I called on status) and he said the laptop would not boot up and the motherboard was bad – with a huge cost to replace what he called a “common well known” problem on this laptop. I knew this was wrong and explained what I knew, my troubleshooting steps, issues exhibited, and that I was concerned on the level of troubleshooting expertise of his techs. After going back and forth on status calls for another week and a half, they said it might be a bad cable and would order one with a repair cost of $199 (for a $50 part). After a total of about a month, they said the cables they received and tried did not work and gave up. They gave back the laptop and basically said – sorry, we can’t fix it, it was a complex problem, and you can have it back (still not working). Fast forward a week - within 10 minutes of internet searches, I found the LCD cable I needed, I installed it, and the laptop is now working just like new again. I will not recommend the Laptop Guy to anyone and will not consider their services in the future.\r more

Job Well done 12/19/2011

I had a laptop problem and a friend recommended The Laptop Guy. I used the online website to place a service order and then took it directly to the store. I immediately felt confident that it was in good hands because after explaining the issue to Mike (the service technician), he seemed to follow what I was talking about. I received a phone call letting me know that it was back from diagnostics and what my options were. My computer was fixed and it's been working great ever since. Kudos to this business for their user-friendly website, knowledgeable technicians, and their after-service email asking about my experience. more

Horrible Experience 10/8/2011

This is the worst of the worst businesses to deal with, they are slow have a terrible phone system designed to not answer calls unless they want to and they are terrible about returning calls!!!!!!! They were asked to identify the problem only and provide communication back to us, instead they identified the problem which was an unplugged wire then told us the hard drive was wiped. The hard drive was wiped because they were the ones who wiped it!! When we wanted the computer back they argued with us saying we asked for the problem to be fixed and charged us an extra 59 dollars on top of the 79 dollars which we had to pay to get the machine back. So we got it back with a wiped hard drive and the power wire plugged in on the motherboard, which was the only problem to begin with! These people wiped the hard drive then wanted our windows key to reinstall windows so they could make more money then held our computer hostage for payment for a repair to reinstall windows when they did not do that service, they are the worst kind of rip off artists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

FIRST RESPONDERS 5/17/2011

The Lap Top Guys are just terrific! As a three score & ten+ aged computer illiterate, I so appreciate the Guys patience and knowledge of their field. In a matter of minutes they resolved my problems. When I really gross out my computer and need serious hard/soft - ware intervention I will call The Laptop Guy. I hope they enjoyed the brownies my wife made!\r \r Josh more

Best In Town! 2/1/2011

My laptop was totally non-functional, bogged down with a virus. I took it to The Laptop Guy at the Grandview location and they explained the possible scenarios of what could be wrong, how they could fix it, and how they could help prevent it from happening again. Within a few days, Devin called and told me since he removed 13 viruses (!) on my computer, he recommended wiping the whole thing and reloading my operating system. My laptop now works better and faster than it did fresh from the factory! For the very affordable cost of my fix, I also have 1 year of support from The Laptop Guy. I am a Lifetime Customer of The Laptop Guy! more

Work Done, Owner Listens 12/17/2010

After posting an unsatisfactory review regarding my experience with the laptop guy about my misplaced laptop, the owner actually responded to my ad. Although I was very frustrated, I was ultimately shocked that the owner took this review seriously and called me back. I realize that even a computer solution store may have some system challenges and the laptop guy does take customer service seriously. First off, in my original review I was incorrect in mentioning that I spoke with the owner. Instead, I spoke with a Tech Manager. Secondly, the actual work and the problem of my computer was resolved and on time. Unfortunately, the miscommunication, the system glitch and the confusion at the store was my biggest frustration. Although, my experience was far from perfect, the fact that my computer is fixed and that the owner responded to my ad, I am satisfied with my experience. I hope they do work out the kinks because I would seriously give them another chance since the laptop guy does charges 25% less than the Geek Squad for a virus removal. more

Considerate and efficient service 12/6/2010

In recent times, it seems that many businesses have forgotten what it takes to provide good customer service. In the case of The Laptop Guy, they are striving to buck this trend. I had a problematic laptop which I decided to take in to the Laptop Guy for servicing. The diagnosis came back quickly and was explained to me clearly in layman's terms. The repair work was completed on time and as quoted. I've been more than pleased with the results, as my laptop is working as good as new. If you're ready to throw your laptop out of the window, stop! Take it to the Laptop Guy and they'll solve your problems! more

Great Customer Service! 12/5/2010

I had a laptop problem and my local computer repair shop referred me to The Laptop Guy. I used the online website to place a service order and I took the laptop to the Polaris location. I immediately felt confident that it was in good hands because after explaining the issue to Halley (the service technician), he seemed to follow what I was talking about & mentioned a recall related to the particular problem. I received a phone call letting me know that it was back from diagnostics and what my options were. My computer was fixed and it's been working great ever since. Kudos to this business for their user-friendly website, knowledgeable technicians, and their after-service email asking about my experience. more

Get it fixed NOW 10/13/2010

I recently had need to get my laptop fixed, as it was dropping the entries using the upper shift key. I had to get it fixed as I use the laptop for my consulting job and needed it fixed with minimum downtime. I dropped the laptop off at The Laptop Guy (TLG). I have seen TLG ads on TV, so I thought I would give them a spin. The best parts of the experience were the feedback and communications from TLG about my laptop, along with what it would take to get the laptop fixed. The whole experience was frutiful, as the laptop has been fixed. You can bet I'll consider TLG once again if I ever need any laptops fixed. Great experience more

When it comes to computers The Laptop Guy(s)/Girls really know what they are doing. I dropped my computer off on a monday afternoon. Fantastic Service 8/4/2010

I couldn't be happier with the experience I had at The Laptop Guy. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the diagnostics and repairs were completed in a timely manner, and my service advisor, Devin, was very easy to work with. I'm not the most computer-savvy person, but he did a great job of explaining things so that I understood what was going on with my laptop, and I always felt well-informed about the progress of repairs.\r \r I would absolutely recommend the Laptop Guy - the customer service is top-notch! \r more

Unsurpassed Service 5/28/2010

My daughter's Gateway laptop had a keyboard issue which required replacement. In the process of replacement, the clip which locks the the keyboard cable to the connector was broken. I searched all over for this part or for someone who could install this part without success. Having seen commercials for the Laptop Guy I took it to them at Polaris. In short, they said they could fix it, they kept me informed about what they were doing, and they returned it to me working normally when no one else could. They even did a followup contact. We're very pleased and highly recommend them. I would use them again. Pros: Excellent Communication, Quick Turnaround more
