Alright, I haven't been professionally fit for a bra for several years and I had pretty much resigned myself to being a 38C, God knows why!? At least, this is what the gals at La Petite Coquette exclaimed, saying 'How could you ever think you're a 38? You're TINY!'. I figured I would be forever living with the embarrassment and discomfort of low-slung, large breasts - but this illusion was amazingly shattered shortly after setting foot in LPC. Alexandra is my saviour(ess) - she was warm and friendly, she was knowledgeable and fashionable, she knew just what I needed, and took me from a 38C down to a 32E in fine style. Alright, I was not thrilled to realise I now wear an E-cup, but the thing is, with this support, I no longer feel like I'm in possession of huge jiggling jello melons - I look more height/weight proportionate than ever before! After years of feeling uncomfortable in my bras, I finally decided that enough was enough, and as uncomfortable as the journey might be physically and emotionally, I knew it was time to find a really good fit. In the past the idea of someone helping me with undergarments was unappealing, and I admit that I own several bras that I didn't even try on before leaving a store. I heard good things about La Petie Coquette, so I thought it would be a good place to start. I was a little nervous having to be buzzed in, but I prefered the idea of extra privacy, compared to a zoo-like Victoria's Secret, a place I have never felt compelled to buy a single item. Within moments of entering the store, I was offered help by a saleswoman named Kate, which I boldly accepted. I said I didn't need anything cute or pretty, just a great fit. (But they certainly have many beautiful bras!) We started with the size I thought I was, and went from there. It turns out I have been wearing the wrong size, and Kate was so helpful in finding me many styles and options. I happen to be a tricky size to fit, but I left with two great bras, and I have to say it's honestly changed my life. The atmosphere is non-threatening. The women were very helpful when men entered the store to shop for their not present girlfriends. I highly recommend the shop. I now appreciate the importance of a truly well fitted bra! I must have passed by this place a thousand times and never stepped in. Why? It looks seriously intimidating, lingerie for millionaires. But seriously, some pieces are very affordable--- like a Mary Green (kind of posing as La Pearla) silk slip for 65. A complete, sophisticated look for 65 dollars?! You can't even find that at Victoria's Secret! Well, I ended up spending 195 on a garter belt, bra, and matching g-string from their Aubade Bahia collection--- an oh-so-sexy brand from France. Everything was expertly picked out by Kate, a smart looking woman with a short bob and du jour eyewear. She wasn't overzealous but was always there when I needed her and made me feel really comfortable about shopping in such an exclusive (you have to be buzzed in) store. I did my research online and Aubade is pretty established with errr... established prices. What I got from this store was really, a bargain. You really can't beat the selection here, there is nothing tacky--- everything is tasteful and very creative! Yes, this is the most I've ever spent on lingerie but I imagined I spent less than if I bought a ticket to France, rode around in a Taxi until I found the best lingerie store, asked a snobby sales woman, and then bought the lingerie there. The owner/quasi-dominatrix of the house is seriously knowledgeable, and quite a wonderful character. Not only did is she all about fitting you for lingerie, but she's also genuinely interested in what's filling up those pieces of filigree asking questions to which nationality I was and what sign I was born under and nodded knowingly. I have been going to this boutique for a while now. I always get the absolute expert service. As the girls love to say "We've heard it all." If you have any gripe what so ever about a particular dress or need a perfect fitting bra, this is where you need to go. They have MAGIC bras --seriously! Tape bras that actually stay on without peeling off a layer of skin, gorgeous perfect fitting corsets that don't leave your breasts under your chin. Comfortable thongs! (Can you imagine such a thing?!) Lovely bathing suits and nighties - excellent gifts for brides. I'm moving outside of the city and so I went over this weekend to stock up and Demisha made me a client for life. Who knew there was a bra size 30E out there? I'm sure that no other store would stock something like this. Not only did Demisha have the patience to sift through over 25 bras in all sizes until I was able to find something that was not only a good fit but flattering as well, but she was honest with what looked good and what didn't. I completely trusted her. Even if I was "ok" with something, we tried on more until I was "in love" with something. There were other ladies there, including a whole bridal party, but Demisha was with me the whole time making me feel comfortable, tended to and set me for life by informing me that they even ALTER BRAS if they tear or wear out. And they ship all over the world. That's NYC for you! I would have never thought that I could love a bra. Thanks Demisha! As the other reviewers have said, searching for a good fitting bra is very difficult. I am large chested and have had a very difficult time finding bras where everything fit inside the cups. There aren't enough words to fully express how wonderful my experience was. I entered the store and was warmly greeted by Kate and I told her I was needing new bras that lifted my chest. She brought in so many bras for me to try on - first to find my size (which was so different from the size I was wearing every day) and show me how the bra was supposed to fit on my body, then she kept bringing in the correct sized bras until I found the ones I liked. Now, there was a point in the process of find the right bra where I thought it was hopeless and I was close to tears. But, Kate never gave up on me. She kept bringing me bras in different colors and different sizes. She stayed with me while I tried them to make sure each and every one fit correctly. I have never had such a pleasant and special shopping experience. To Rebecca (the owner) - I applaud you for employing someone as amazing as Kate. Life changing experience. It's likely you too have been wearing the wrong size bra for years! Don't be intimidated by having to buzz in or by some of the high-end prices. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Karen brought me tons of beautiful bras to try on til she and I found the perfect fit, within my price range, and something I adored. It's well worth splurging a bit here. I'll definitely be back and am throwing all of my old bras in the trash! more

What a FANTASTIC store! Yesterday I went into La Petite Coquette and had the most amazing experience ever. The staff is incredible and Rebecca is just unbelievable - what a stellar personality. She helped me pick out amazing bras that looked and fit great. The selection is the best in the city - a perfect blend of classic and ultra feminine lingerie. I have shopped in a number of lingerie stores in NYC, and this one is the best, both in terms of the selection on hand as well as the professionalism of the women who work there. Let's face it, shopping for bras can be as painful, if not worse, than shopping for a bathing suit; yet I have not met a single woman whose "presentation" is not substantially improved by skilled expert assistance. At La Petite Coquette, the bottom line is that you will get perfect fit. This just isn't the case at some other lingerie shops, where you will be dispatched to the register with merely good fit. Here, they want you to look your best, and know how to get you there. I have purchased work-horse everyday bras, special-purpose bras, and of course seduction gear. Not only do they know what they're doing and have a huge selection, but the staff has a range of taste and can helpfully articulate what's useful about one version of seduction versus another. They know how to figure out what's in your imagination, quell your fears, and then hook your girls up. Finally, one last thing, in my view the staff at La Petite Coquette are exceptionally graceful at working within any given budget. In my view, this is nearly as important as being graceful about the vast range of bodies that they address. I shop a lot, in a range of differently-scaled boutiques, and I do not think this particular quality is as common as it should be. Everyone cannot spend $200 on a bra, even if it fits perfectly; while very little in La Petite Coquette would be considered cheap, I was shown a wide range of price-points, and there was absolutely no unpleasantness about my inclination that day toward the lower end. All of us need to re-fit and upgrade on a regular basis, and I say a quarterly visit to La Petite Coquette is almost as wise an investment in your appearance as sunscreen. Thanks ladies! I had heard a lot about La Petite Coquette but today I went in for the first time. From the moment I walked in, the owner was UNBELIEVABLY helpful. She told me what size I should wear (and where I needed adjustments) and gave me tons of options in my price range (which I didn't have to tell her). She then found me other colors and matching underwear. It was the most relaxing and enjoyable bra shopping experience I have ever had. I never felt overwhelmed or ignored, which I have had happen in the past at other shops. In addition, the bras she gave me made me feel good about myself and how I looked, whereas at other shops they'll give you 'grandma' bras and make you feel uncomfortable. I ended up leaving with 7 items and even got a 10% student discount. I will definitely be returning in the near future -- thanks a lot for all your help! more

I used to come regularly to shop at La Petite Coquette for the beautiful lingerie that made my boyfriend (now fiance) go nuts. They used to have a lot of selection, with many gorgeous things in my size to purchase. They also used to have a lovely and bubbly sales associate with curly blonde hair (i've unfortunately forgotten her name) who would help me whenever I went in. She always remembered my name and size, and would bring me just the right things. I went in the other day and found that the selection of bras in my size was not as full as it used to be, and the woman who "helped" me was standoffish at best. She seemed like she couldn't care less about me, and I had to hunt her down in the store just to ask a question. She was more interested in speaking with the other sales associate than she was in actually selling things. I've walked out of La Petite Coquette before having spent between $1000 and $2000 a time there, and this time I left with nothing. Who knew that something you can't see can have such an impact on how you look and feel? Alexandra took one look at me and without hesitation said "34D". Needless to say, after having worn a 36 B my entire bra career, I was stunned. But Alexandra The Great was right. My clothes have never fit better especially when my goods are where they're supposed to be. La Petite Coquette carries an unparalleled selection of lingerie for those who like fun and flirty or simple and streamlined. And not only is Alexandra extremely knowledgeable, she's approachable and enthusiastic - she obviously loves what she's doing. I visited La Petite Coquette on the cusp of my 40th birthday, only to find that I'd been wearing the wrong bra size for my entire adult life! I have a small chest, and had always considered myself shut out of most lingerie options. Sure certain tank-top-style pieces looked good, but I really wasn't even supposed to be wearing a grown-up bra; of course nothing was going to fit me right. With the discreet assistance of the lovely and knowledgeable Alexandra, however, I was proved wrong. I actually found beautiful bras that looked great and fit me perfectly. And they weren't even expensive (until I got matching sets in several colors). But the true shock was finding I wasn't a 34A but a 32C in a certain style of demi-cup bra, the cut being more important than the size on the label, I learned. How enlightening! NEVER would it have occurred to me to go UP a cup size; instead I'd attempted to compensate for a bad fit by opting for a wider band size. I didn't buy everything I tried on, but La Petite Coquette has kept a record of what I liked and didn't get. I've been planning to go back.... Highly recommended. Thanks, Alexandra! I visited La Petite Coquette for the first time, yesterday and was very impressed. When I entered there were beautiful women singing opera in lingerie! What an enterance! I was in NYC on business, wanted to pick up some fine lingerie for my wife and this was the perfect store. The shop has a huge selection, many styles, and all the finest lines of designers. I received very friendly, helpful assistance. If I lived in NYC, this would be THE place that I'd be buying all my wife's underwear and one that she would truly enjoy visiting. Now I will plan on special trips to La Petite Coquette for all my future NYC visits. Their onlne store is very nice as well and that was how I became familiar with La Petite Coquette. I found the prices to be very good and left with 3 pieces of lingerie. The owner was there and was very curious as to how I found the place, what I liked, and if I would even do an interview for future reference. Maybe next time I visit they were be some other beautiful women in lingerie dancing or something else exciting to great shoppers. I have been there several times. Unlike most high end lingerie stores, the staff here is very friendly and extremely accomadating. Have been there several times and found Alexandra to be a pro at knowing what fits best! In fact after reccomending a bra to me, I came back the next week and bought 4 more! more

What a perfect little store. They have everything a girl could ever want, from the basic t-shirt bra to something frilly or downright s*xy. Not only that, the customer service is impeccable. When I asked to be fitted, Alexandra knew immediately that I was wearing the wrong size bra. We must have gone through every single bra they carry before I settled on a few that fit perfectly. She was patient and knowledgeable. Now, because it fits properly, I barely even notice I'm wearing one. I had a great experience at La Petite Coquette. My girlfriend shops there all the time and they have her sizes stored in their computer database which made it easy to get the right thing. In addition, my girlfriend Tracy advised me to ask for Lila if I ever went there, because that's who she usually works with when she goes. I found Lila when I went to the store and she not only remembered my girlfriend when I told her her name but knew her sizes off the top of her head (we did confirm with the computer just in case). She picked out a few options of things she thought Tracy would like and I couldn't choose just one so I bought them all. Lila wrapped each thing separately so I could give her each gift at a different time, and discreetly marked each box so I'd know what was in it. I couldn't have asked for better service. Expect, once you step inside the door, to be apprised by a knowledgeable sales assistant who can assess your correct size at a glance, and who will then provide you with an abundance of choices, from plain T-shirt bras to unabashedly alluring and from the exquisitely made--and priced--to the exquisitely made and amazingly reasonably priced. Then expect your assistant to cast a weather eye over each bra's fit, apprising the gapes, sags, and pinches of each fit, until you're finally matched up with your perfect fit and style. La Petite Coquette has become a place of annual pilgrimage for me, despite my living in the hinterlands of Florida--and the only place where I'll buy any lingerie.
