We specifically chose this place because they have a ""feline specialist""...hog wash! I'm sorry but the ""specialist"" isn't any better than any vet...and worse, she's indiffere...

Response to Very nice people.... 10/23/2011

The death of a pet is always difficult. We at Piper Glen Animal Hospital do everything we can to provide the best possible care to all the animals we see. As in human medicine, there are instances where diagnostic tests that we do not have available to us need to be done at a specialty hospital in order to make further recommendations. Once we have consulted with the specialist, our doctor can formulate a treatment plan. In the absense of such information the doctor did all that was possible given the available facts and circumstances. more

Very nice people, but clueless! 9/11/2011

Around May, my dog began to pant. We took her to Piper Glenn Animal Hospital, they ran blood tests but the tests showed nothing. A few months later, the panting continued, the dog began to lose weight and was getting weaker from day to day. Blood tests and diabetes tests came negative and we were told that since the dog had heart murmurs, more tests involving heart were recommended. Throughout this time, the vet (I won't mention the name) was clueless, unable to make a diagnosis or even an educated guess. The dog was not given any medication yet. After a lot of research on line I suggested pneumonia. I am not a doctor, but I wanted to try doing something to help my dog. I took her back to the doctor. The dog was extremely weak, she had to be given an enema as her tummy was full and she could no longer squat. On this day, the doctor finally prescribed medication. The next day, my baby died. She was my best friend and she wasn't even ten years old. more

Most Compassionate 8/6/2011

I've been bringing my furbabies to Piper Glen Animal Hospital for 7 years now. The staff is excellent...they are all sweet and helpful. They will direct you to a tech right away if they cannot answer your question. Dr. Greg Wood is my vet - love his way with my pets, but again, they are all wonderful, capable and compassionate people. It is also one of the cleanest vet hospitals I've been in. They are on top of everthing with reminders for heartworm meds (I can also purchase single dose - lots of places do not offer that option) and checkups. Very helpful when I 've got so much going on. I will never forget the compassion they expressed when I had to make the most painful decision of my life - they helped see me through the deaths of my beloved babies -3 of them in a four year period due to age and illness. I was given all the time I needed to hold them before, during and after they crossed Rainbow Bridge. I'll never forget that...and they did not forget me...I received a handwritten sympathy card from my vet for each of my babies. It's these little things that mean so much. more

Veterinary help you can trust 4/24/2011

I am offended at the negative reviews. If you want cheap there are certainly Cheaper places. For me I prefer trusted professionals that i can trust to give my pets the best care - - And as far as the staff goes - - the best most competent and caring i have ever seen!!!! more

my pets' best friend 4/24/2011

I cannot say enough for Dr.Wood and his staff! I fully trust his opinion especially in the most serious situations. His staff is so caring and helps me even in the most troubling times. Surely they are not the ""cheapest"" but you truly get what you pay for. Certainly shop around -- i did before settling with Dr. Wood and Piper Glenn! more

blanket is still dirty and they did not really wash it! 4/21/2011

I am very disappointed with the service of this dry cleaners. They are located at the piper glen station across from stonecrest. I am sure they don't really wash any blanket. I brought my winter king duvet in with some stains in the middle and some big and visible stains on the inner side and I found out all the stains were still there once I got back home. I am sure they only spray something on the blanket to make it smell but it doesn't smell so good either! You can say that it is not a fresh and clean smell but only something to deodorize the previous underneith odor. I took the stains off with a wet washcloth but I guess I am going to soak it in my bathtub because I am disgusted for have it found leaned on others' blankets which were not being truly washed (like mine!). Yuck!!! And this is not my first bad experience with this cleaners. I gave them a lot of chances! more

Love Dr. Lewis. 5/29/2010

I love this place and everyone who works there. When my doberman became sick with Cardiomyopathy we were going to the specialty clinic and it was horrible. All about money. I called PGAH and Dr. Brown started calling me in the evenings and during office hours to check on Max and then when it became necessary to see him, they were all there for him. We've been happy with them since. My animals love them all. Including the front desk staff. They all know my dogs by name. And as far as price goes, it's my understanding that the state of NC has a non compete clause as far as cost goes to see your animal. So I'm really sorry for the people that have negative feelings for this place, but I can tell you that for me, I'll never take my "kids" to any other place. more

Don't go here if you love your pets... 2/18/2010

I would NEVER recommend this place for anyone that cares for their animals. I'm not sure where some of these comments came from, but this has to be the worse place to take an animal. Their customer service is horrific and I can guarantee you...you pet will not come first. I'm in the process of writing the NC Veterinary Medical Board and I will be driving to Raleigh to make my case in person. Again...if you care about your pet(s)...go to another animal hospital. There are too many choices and this is one place you should not choose!!!! more

Great Vet 1/19/2010

Piper Glen Animal Hospital is superb in every way! 1/1/2010

Ossie, our Australian Shepard, could not be happier than when we visit PGAH. From the doctors to the staff to the boarding personnel --- it's all superb. They keep Ossie healthy, groomed and happy. Can you really put a price on your pet's care? The Butlers more

My pets and I love this place! 7/29/2009

I have been going to Piper Glen Animal Hospital for a number of years, and I have had no problems with any of the staff and the doctors have all been great. I do tend to see Dr. Lewis and Dr. Brown. They could not be any more helpful with my needs and my animals. I have 4 cats and 2 dogs, so I do visit the vet often. If I would think at any point my animals were not be treated with 100% care, I would leave immediately, but that is not the case here. Sorry....... I would recommend this vet to anyone. more

You need insurance to afford this pretentious place 3/4/2009

My experiences with PGAH have all be, unfortunately, negative. They up-sell very expensive services better than most used car dealerships and act as if you are negligent if you decline to accept their requests. The female vet there is an attractive, trendy woman who plays the social status snob game. Got going back there any more...life is too short and there are too many other reasonable and down to earth folks in the industry to put up with that garbage. Enough is Enough in Ballantyne more

Just OK 1/28/2009

I recently had to have my cat checked out. She was misdiagnosed and I was charged fully for this. I will have to say that I was not charged for further testing. Both Doctors that I saw were very nice and caring, as well as the Techs and the front area employees. I felt that they cared about my cat and took initiative to call me to check on the status of her condition. I don't have any other Vet to compare prices with, but I do know that I spent quite a bit of money at this establishment. more

Way overpriced! 1/8/2009

shop around and do your homework. this place is way overpriced and the staff will give you inaccurate information regarding tests, prices, state laws regarding tests, etc. you will pay significantly more money here than you will at any other vet in town! don't be fooled!! Cons: much pricier that competitors!! more

Amazing Staff and Awesome Doctors 1/7/2009

As a previous employee, I still take my pets to Piper Glen. I can say from a ?behind the scenes? look, that Piper Glen loves and treats your pets just as they would their own. I have watched staff member and doctors cry with owners over the loss of their pets. I have watched technicians snuggle and comfort surgery patients while they were recovering. Boarding assistants were always getting pets out to play and give them special attention. Hours are spent every day cleaning and scrubbing to keep Piper Glen the cleanest hospital that I have ever been in. The doctors on staff are the best I have ever worked with showing compassion and determination to help your pet receive the best possible care. The technicians have so much experience. From puppies to big dogs, to grumpy cats, they handle and treat all animals with comfort and grace. The front staff works efficiently and they are very sweet and personable. All staff members will go out of their way to be as helpful as possible. From answering questions, to helping clients out to the car, giving tours of the hospital, clients and patients are the number one priorities. I have seen what this hospital has to offer and seen how they treat pets when the door is shut. They are a wonderful group of people and I would not take my pets anywhere else! They are the only hospital I will recommend to friends and family. \r Pros: Great group of people who truly love animals more

The Best For My Pets 1/5/2009

After many awful experiences with multiple Vet clinics, Piper Glenn is now my #1 Pick. \r Very Clean clinic, Compassionate & Knowledgable Vets (& Techs), Outstanding Front Desk Service!\r These folks actually listen and go out of their way to offer different options when possible. They are not only concerned with an immediate problem, but offer ideas to prolong the life and well being of my babies. (2 dogs + 2 cats).\r I give them the highest rating of 5 Stars!! more

NEVER! 12/31/2008

My experiences at PGAH have been inconceivably awful. Not only are their prices considerably higher than the market average, but service is non existent. The majority of the employees portray a sense of entitlement and are unhelpful. When leaving the exam room after my first puppy visit, I was presented with a bill that was more than three times the quoted price of $60. My issue wasn?t so much with the cost, but with the fact that I never once was given any indication that any ?extra? services were being preformed. There is one amazing vet in the office (Harris), but without a good support team in place, it?s useless. The true test came when I woke up on Christmas Eve to a Boston Terrier who couldn?t open her eye. I called to find the practice open, but was told they were ?too busy? and that I?d just have to go to the emergency vet. While this is somewhat understandable given the circumstances, it was the turning point for me after countless service let-downs. I asked f more

NEVER AGAIN! 12/30/2008

My experiences at PGAH have been inconceivably awful. As a side note, this is not libel/slander because this is a statement of truth (with documented facts) that is serving a public good. Not only are their prices considerably higher than the market average, but service is non existent. The majority of the employees portray a sense of entitlement and are quite unhelpful. When leaving the exam room after my first puppy visit, I was presented with a bill that was more than three times the quoted price of $60. I called to find the practice open, but was told they were ?too busy? and that I?d just have to go to the emergency vet. While this is somewhat understandable given the circumstances, it was the turning point for me after so many other service let-downs. I asked for our records to be at the desk for pick-up as we would not be returning to the office. Fortunately, another local vet welcomed us in and FOUR minutes later, we were leaving with the needed antibiotics. Several days later, I received a letter in the mail from a front desk worker, Jessica, saying that THEY had decided to discontinue services to me and my pet. I?m assuming the letter I received was a form letter since it cited reasons that were completely unrelated to any of my experiences. Cost is not the key factor in veterinary service, but if you?re going to command a premium, you had better be able to back it up with exceptional service. Aside from a great facility, PGAH fails to meet any basic expectations of service ? stay clear! Pros: One AWESOME vet - Dr. Harris Cons: Everything about this office, aside from the facility itself, stinks. Not worth the time, trouble, and effort. more

Piper Glen loves all its paws 12/16/2008

I find offense to the 'supposed dog show' owner, and to luscious 13 (whatever) as well. These people sound like super high maintenance folks that would not be happy anywhere they brought their pets, people with an axe to grind with everyone. \r \r I have been bringing my animals (cats as well as dogs), to Piper Glen since they opened and have been nothing but happy with the service we have received from them. I have a very expensive show horse as well so I understand the need for good service, treatment, and proper care. My dogs as well as cats have had a few problems that Piper Glen has always been able to treat with continued success and I have always felt that I received very informative and well-thought out diagnoses.\r \r Previously to coming to Piper Glen, I tried more than a few vets and a dozen groomers before settling on getting my dogs (and at times my kitty) groomed at Piper Glen (this saves me time as well since if they are due for shots and you cannot make it, you can opt to have the staff give them their shots while they are there for grooming). That being said, I know the staff will be nice and sensitive to my dogs if they are required to have shots. My dogs are very nice, but still picky when it comes to people, and they love the Piper Glen staff and tell them every time with a big lick on the chops. \r \r When some of my animals did pass away (we had four at one point), their staff was very sensitive about it and very helpful in getting us through that difficult time. \r \r So my advice to these two other high maintenance 'customers' is-- vote with your feet- leave, and go to some other place(s) that you are bound to find problems with as well. If not now, eventually. This way I won't have to wait at Piper Glen listening to you blasting some poor staff member. \r \r Thanks. \r more
