Shortening Shirt Sleeves 10/7/2005

Jack uses the standard procedure for shortening shirt sleeves. First, he measured for the correct sleeve length, a half measurement of the yolk and continued down the sleeve to the nuckle of the small finger. He said he would add 1/2 inch for a new shirt to allow for shrinkage as the shirt sized itself. Second, he removed the cuff and the gauntlet and then cut the sleeve to the measured length. Third, he reattached the cuff and gauntlet for a finished appearance. You would never know the shirt was shortened. Jack also told me that if the shirt only needed to be shortened less than one inch that for cost savings he would only need to remove the cuff, trim to correct length and reattach. I have had other tailors botch this procedure but Jack is an EXPERT and can perform any alteration imaginable. TWO THUMBS UP! more

Exceptional Service 10/6/2005

I called Jack at 10 AM to tell him I needed my pants shorted by 4 PM. Although he was very busy, he said it wouldn't be a problem. Even better, when he had a personal event come up, he called me to let me know that he had to leave, but that my pants were finished and I could pick them up now to be sure I didn't miss him later. It is nice to find a tailor who knows you by name and whom you can trust with your favorite clothes. Jack did an excellent job reattaching some jean bottoms and altering some corduroy pants for me--both flawlessly. I highly recommend. more

Jack is the best! 9/7/2005

Jack is great - I went here based solely on the strength of these recommendations and Jack did not disappoint! He expertly tailored my designer jeans and reattached the original hems. You can't even tell they were ever tailored! I am ecstatic with the results. Jack got them back to me in less than 24 hours without me even requesting fast service, and was as friendly as could be. He is very helpful, and his price was reasonable. I highly recommend him to anyone. Pros: close to Porter Sq T, very friendly, fast work more

He does not open on time and charges twice more than other tailors. Suggest you not to waste your time here more

Tailoring of Designer Jeans- GREAT JOB! 8/8/2005

I came to Jack's to get 2 pairs of my designer jeans altered and have the bottoms reattached and I am MORE than pleased with the result! I was afraid to trust my expensive jeans to just anyone... but Jack's friendly demeanor made me feel very comfortable. He listened to my requests regarding the length I wanted the jeans, and just a couple days later my jeans were ready to be picked up. I have to say I can't even tell the jeans were altered/ had the bottoms reattached... Jack did a flawless job! He is very knowledgeable about his work and knew what had to be done to the jeans to make them look perfect! For Jack's friendly, welcoming and quick service I would go here, but not to mention Jack's workmanship gets an A++ and I would definitely go back again! BEST DRYCLEANER/TAILOR IN THE CITY!! 3/25/2005

Jack's is the BEST! I can't say enough about this guy. He's friendly, honest and a heck of a tailor. I send all of my special items his way. Pants, shirts, coats, sweaters and more come back BETTER than expected. How many dry cleaners can you say that about? He also has really fast turnaround; special requests are never a problem. Jack is a master tailor and the epitome of customer service. In an age where small mom and pop-type shops are being eclipsed by large and impersonal chain stores, Jack maintains a strong local market presence by holding true to good old fashioned customer-centric values and rock solid workmanship. His pleasant demeanor is welcoming, and he delivers a very fine product on time, every time. Several years ago when I was new to the area, I hurriedly stopped into Jacks shop one afternoon hoping that somebody might be able to alter my tuxedo that I needed for an event later that evening. Jack put all of his other work aside to help me out. He delivered within an hour and the suit fit perfectly. Best Tailor Anywhere 12/28/2004

Jack is the best tailor in the Boston area. His workmanship is second-to-none. I have brought everything from suits and tuxes to pants and shirts in there to get altered and have always been satisfied by the results. He even fixed my girlfriend's fur coat that I ripped with meticulous results. I can't even tell where the rip was, I only hope my girlfriend can't either. Jack's the Best 12/9/2004

I was lucky enough to have Jack referred to me by the outfit from which I bought a suit. I am a big guy who has lost a lot of weight which meant my suit needed more extensive work than most. Jack not only tailored the suit perfectly, but gave me a wondeful price, finished the work in 2 days and sent my suit to the dry cleaner for free. Top Notch!!! 11/11/2004
